E-mail to VT Webmaster, April 16 - 26, 2007

I had lost a little faith in the “youth” of America, until now.

Virginia Tech students are a shining example of the best, most courageous, mature, and caring.

I’m sorry it took this for me to see it.

But I will be easier, knowing that it is people like your students who will one day lead the country.

God bless.

Four and a half years ago, our Norfolk Nebraska community was also brought to our knees with the senseless tragedy when 5 of our citizens were gunned down in a botched bank robbery. I also work in another bank, and went through many emotions that day and the following days and weeks.

My family and I wish to extend our deepest sympathies to your University community and the area for this tragic loss of so many lives. We have sent prayers and our thoughts are with all the families and friends of those lost.

To all students and faculty of Virginia Tech, I offer my heartfelt sympathy in your hour of tragedy. May you heal and become even stronger in the months and years ahead.

This 61-year-old rocker thinks you need a song to bolster your spirit and inspire you to keep moving forward against all this adversity. This is the song to do that job: “Move Along” by The All-American Rejects, from their CD of the same name.

I bet many Virginia Tech students know this song already. It resonates in my heart, especially today. Play it long and play it loud!

As Data Manager at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and as a member of a university community my heart goes out to you in this time of trouble and unexplainable horror.

Be strong. I could only hope the world appreciates and/or realizes how precious life is and how much we all must rely on each other for strength and understanding. Beyond academics, you are there for each other and shown that is the most important lesson of all.

My family and I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to all the victims of this tragic event that happened yesterday. We would like the parents and family members to know that they are in our prayers and we are deeply sorry for their loss. I am an adult student at Saint Petersburg College in Florida and when I went to school last night it was obvious that all of our students and faculty were deeply shocked by this tragedy and it seemed to me that everyone is praying for you as a school community and for the victims and their family members. America is a great country and when tragedy like this happens we all come together regardless of circumstance and social standing. Once again we are so sorry for your loss and we will pray for everyone so that maybe they can gain some type of inner peace.

Sincerely and with our deepest sympathy
