As a hokie, I relate very deeply with the tragic, tragic event at VT. I am still reeling from the aftermath of the shooting and I cannot begin to comprehend what the families of the victims are going through.

My heartfelt prayers are with each and everyone of you.

Now let us gather our strengths to regroup and make VT and other college campuses safe again.

Tears in Their Eyes
On the morning of Monday April 16 ,2007
They heard gunfire in the air
Fear was in their eyes
It was replaced by bravery
They shield their classmates and teachers with tables, doors, desks, and unfortunely their bodies.
He incouragely told his classmates to jump out the windows.Tears full their eyes running down their faces. Some of them died, others were wounded.Their spirits become angels and saints.
Their blood were not red but orange and maroon.
For the surivors, V for victory, T for triumph.
They are still alive and kicking. Orange and maroon sunset on them. See the star of David for the teacher. It shines and twinkles in the night.
Heard the drums playing ratta tap tap. They are playing for “Stacks”. Horns playing taps, church bells for the dead. Hear them shout “Let’s go, Hokies! Let’s go!” Hokies riders in the skies.

I am a student at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. As it happens, my birthday was on Monday, the day of the shootings. I cannot explain with words how sorry I am and how much I feel for the victims, their friends, their families, and everyone on the campus of Virginia Tech who had to endure the terrifying events of that day. It is so sad when terrible things happen to great people. I am praying for all of you. Keep your heads up, keep living your life, and know that God is with you, and that you are in the thoughts and prayers of millions of people everywhere. God loves you very much, and he will not make you take on anything that you can’t handle. My heart goes out to you, and on behalf of me and my family, we are praying for you. Keep on, and God Bless

My prayers to all at Virginia Tech as a mother of 3 I could not imagine the pain everyone is suffering. My 17 year old daughter was at the mall when gun fire erupted and she was hysterical when people started running and shots were fired and she saw a young boy go down she thought he was dead but thank god he made it, but when I got that call from her I went crazy with fear wanting to get to her as soon as I could and I had such hatered for the shooters my only thought was revenge for the pain they caused and I thanked the Lord my baby girl was not harmed. I can only pray that the Lord helps heal your pain and know that the entire nation is behind you all the way. I am very impressed with the students and how they came together in this terrible tragedy, all of you are gods angels.God Bless You All

Dear VT staff and students,

i watched with fear and terror as the tragic events unfolded on your campus. The first thing I could think to do was to contact my son, a sophomore at LSU, to let him known I loved him and to inquire about the safety measures on the campus should such an event occur. The second thing I could do was pray for all of you and your families. I am thankful for your school’s leadership, your Governor, and your Hokie spirit!  God Bless You and keep You

No words could possibly express the pain that has been experianced over the past few days. I personally have no ties to the university, but still I have shed many tears. Im sure your pain is greater due to the loss of friends, family and having to witness such a horrific event. Still this nation is coming together and grieving with you. We all send our love, share your grief and mourn the lost. We will never forget those that were lost and we will be here for those who are grieving.

My family and I respectively share the pain, loss, and now mourn with the families, friends, and the world of which ourlives have forever changed.

When we remember April 16th, we will aways feel the the pain of such a senseless taking away of many loving, caring people. And as we remember, let us also know and understand what God has always wanted mankind to do.  “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” John 13:34 KJV

First, let us always remember God loves each one of us, regardless if we believe in Him or not. And that He grieves with us when we do.

Secondly, if we could follow these words of direction and encouragement, what a better world it could be.  We have it within our reach.

Supportive prayers, The Hassler Family
