My heart aches for the families of those that were lost, for the campus, the state and the nation.  A tragedy such as this has profound and lasting effects on people here and everywhere at many different levels.  Though we may never make sense of it, we will always remember.  Evil is real and presents itself in many ways.  People have to pull together and lean on God to get through with our sanity and sense of security intact.  Without faith there is no hope, there is no feeling of security, there is always doubt, and it renders us all powerless.  With God we can find some comfort.  Comfort is what I pray for.

Believe that all of you in Blacksburg are in our prayers and in our hearts.  My husband and I are devastated by this tragedy, having spent many happy hours on the campus of Virginia Tech in our youth.  We grieve with you and for you and have faith that you will prevail.  The Hokie Nation is strong and filled with courage, honor and spirit.  Stand strong and proud, Hokies.

With hope in our hearts for healing, and faith in the strength of the human spirit, we remain

Dear Virginia Tech Students, Staff, and Community,

I was so saddened to watch the events of Monday unfold before me.  I can not imagine the horror of that day.  Use this time as a time to bond together to speak with someone you may never have spoken to or even just smile at someone walking by more often and mean it.  Pull together, stick together, grieve together, heal together, and remember that the world’s thoughts and prayers are with you each and every moment of each and every day.  May god bless you and keep you, and may your memories bring you comfort and peace.

I am a University of Michigan-Flint student. I wanted to express my condolences to you from one college student to others for your loss. I have tried to come up with the words to express the sorrow I feel for all of you but I just can’t do it. I have often worried in the back of my mind about the possibility of something like that happening on our campus because we are an open campus in a very bad part of the county. I never imagined it would really happen anywhere. I will keep all of you in my prayers that you will come through this and be able to finish out your semester and successfully complete your finals. I am not going to give you any unhelpful cliches because the situation just downright sucks. My only piece of advice is to let God carry you through this time. I wish all of you all the best.
Deepest Condolences,
Kirsten Groulx

I’ve never felt prouder to be a Hoakie as I watch from 3000 miles away the images of students, parents, faculty and friends that have lost so much come together in their grief. I see tremendous courage as they remember the beauty, intelligence, innocence, strength and bravery that the world lost too soon.

We must preserve our humanity and faith in times like this and remember to reach out to the weakest and fogotten ones of society for they can inflict excruciating sadness that penetrates the core of all of us.

I can’t pray enough in times like this for those closest to the tragedy. I pray that you can continue on despite your terrible loss and somehow make sense of this, as we all are trying to do. I’m so very sorry you have to carry this burden. I will always preserve in my heart and prayers a place for you, even though we’ve never met.

Here in Alrington, Va. we had a candle light visual last night.  Many prayers were said and words of encouragement were spoken out.  I had not really put much thought into how the WORLD would react, let alone my campus.  To see everyone coming together like this is amazing...its just a sign of God’s love and divine mercy for the victims and their families.  When a young man came forward from VA TECH and thanked the Marymount community I bursted into tears.  At that moment, I knew how the Hokies truly felt.  My heart and prayers are with you all.  Stay strong!!!

I can only begin to imagine the pain and grief that permeates Blacksburg and the Virginia Tech campus.  I feel a palpable sense of it hundreds of miles away here in Upstate New York.

Please know that the Hokie Nation has grown exponentially with the million who join you in your grief, your sorrow and your tragic loss.  The dignity, respect, class and humanity you have shown in dealing with this unbearable loss honors the victims of this senseless act in a way that moves us all to be better people.

I am left hearing the Anthem of my beloved Liverpool Football Club, who have some experience is dealing with tragic loss of life and otherwise unimaginable pain.  4.16.07-VT Remebers, as will we all.

“You’ll Never Walk Alone”

When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high
And don’t be afraid of the dark.
At the end of the Storm there’s a golden sky
And the sweet, silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind, walk on through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart,
And you’ll never walk alone.
You’ll never walk alone.

Come back
And with you will come Spring
With the blooming flowers, green trees
And rebirth that it brings

A warm breeze
Soft as the cheek of a child
Maybe a smile

Too many will not return
The pain is so deep
The beauty they gave us
In our hearts we will keep

We will heal
Together we are strong
In a stadium all maroon and orange
We will lift those lost with that old Fight Song

Alone in the office
Or back in the dorm
We’ll treasure and keep them
forever more

You are the heart and soul
Of this special place
So come back
And we’ll move forward
Together with grace

I am so saddened by the “evil” events that your university has been exposed to.  I read the stories of the surviving victims and I sob in horror.  My heart breaks for the parents that must bury their child. I hurt for the wounded and pray for a speedy recovery.  President Bush has said that a university is a place to learn and should be considered a safe haven….how true that is and how sad it is that it has been tarnished.  I am literally overwhelmed by the heroic acts of students and faculty that risked or gave their own life to save another….that is what we do here in America and even this evil event WILL NOT change that. I pray with all my heart that the Virginia Tech community can find a way to move forward and that the students can continue their dreams for a higher education.  This is still the root of your career and the accomplishments in your life you wish to achieve….do not let the actions of this killer ruin your future, he has already taken enough.

Please know that you are in our hearts and prayers all around the country and will continue to be there as you go through the healing process.

Dear Virginia Tech Community,

I would just like to send out my deepest condolences. We all think that you are all so brave. Even though this is a really hard time we know that you will all get through this no matter how long it takes.  You are all in our thoughts and prayers and we wish you all the best.
