I know your website is overwhelmed with our responses to your shared grief. I believe it is because we all could have been a victim and share with you your sorrow at this time. The tragedy is overwhelming to all of us but what stands out to me is how you all have been so incredible in your bombardment of news media, interviews, etc The students of Va Tech have set a wonderful example courage, maturity and compassion they have shown to the world. We are so proud of you and send our deepest sympathies.

Today is Friday - 5 days have gone by.  I am a student at Brookdale Community College in Lakehurst, NJ.  I cannot imagine the pain caused by this incredible loss.  I can only keep you in my prayers - as a mother who cannot imagine the loss of my child, and as a sibling who lost my brother at 19 - I grieve for you.

With deepest sincerest sympathies - “We will prevail.  We are Virginia Tech.” They would want you to go on.

My heart aches for the victims, the students, staff and all residents in the area. It is so hard to comprehend such a senseless tragedy. Please know that you are all in my prayers and though it will be difficult I hope our country can focus on the lives lost and the plethra of unfullfilled potential we have all been robbed of. Do unto others as you would have done unto you.

I cannot begin to imagine the pain, suffering and horror each of you have experienced this week.  It saddens me beyound words to see the photos, hear the stories, and read the articles about this tragedy.

My son is a Baptist minister in Charlottsville, and has several VT students that were members of his youth group.  Fortunately, non of them were victems of this horror.  My first phone call after I heard of the shooting was to him, to make sure his flock was safe.  Then my prayers turned to the friends, families and students of VT.  I may be a native Oklahoman, but a large part of my heart resides in Virginia.

Please know that those of us in other parts of the country are praying for your comfort and peace.  The Lord is with you...please open your hearts to Him so that He may help you deal with the unthinkable.

As a Hokie parent my heart stopped beating when my daughter called me the morning of April 16th telling me of an active shooter on campus. My family was fortunate that my daughter was spared the first-hand account of the violence and blood shed. However as our senior daughter watched the events unfold with her roommate safely off campus our hearts continued to bleed for her fellow Hokie classmates, not so fortunate. Our hearts today started to heal for the Hokie Heroes lost to this senseless act of selfishness and violence that has left their family and friends mourning and wondering what could have been and what should have been. Our family for the last four years has known the closeness and sincerity of the Hokie nation, whether it is in Blacksburg, VA or Inyokern, CA. This week the nation and the world has learned and seen from afar what we have seen first hand; that Hokies stick together during thick and thin. To our Hokie Heroes and their families we will not fail you now or ever! Today the whole world shows their respect for Hokies fallen. Lest us not forget that Hokie Spirit deep inside all of us today as we go forward together tomorrow to heal from this tragedy! Hokies Forever! Ed C

I do not know anyone at this time that attends, teaches or any of the victims at Virginia Tech, but it certainly does not make it any easier.  My heart is filled with deep sorrow and my eyes filled with tears. Our family knows what it is like to lose a child and immediate family member. I can only imagine what the Tech families and students must be going through. I wish that I could wrap my arms around each and every one of you. I am so sorry you had to experience this horrific tragedy.  But please know that 32 beautiful people and heroes are in a much glorious place and we now have 32 new orange and maroon angels.  Be strong for yourselves and each other through this difficult time and know that you have the support and prayers of so many people.  You guys have touched my heart the way you have banded together.  Long live the Hokie Nation!!
