Any words we can say seem trite in light of what has happened.  As someone who has many, many friends who are seniors at VT right now and knows countless alumni, my heart breaks for you all.  I cannot imagine the agony you all feel.  Our hearts empathize with you.  Today, colleges and business in Lynchburg, VA are covered in Hokie colors.  Almost everyone you pass on the street is displaying a shirt, a ribbon, or some other VT apparel.  Though you may never physically see it, there is support all over this nation today, and you deserve to know that.  Today, we truly are all Hokies!  Our prayers and love are with you as you grieve!

I weep over this tragedy, yet encourage all of us to
to reach forward
to be restored
to be forgiving
to have hope

I pray that God will turn your mourning into dancing (I believe that sweet Reema is dancing with the angels right now).
Let us look forward to the time when “God will remove all of their sorrows, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain.  For the old world and its evils are gone forever.” --from the book of Revelation, chapter 21

My son graudated from VT 6 years ago.  As a single mother who worked two jobs to put her son through school, my heart breaks for the parents who will never know the joy of going to graduation and feeling the pride as their child’s name is called to come up and get their diploma.  My prayers go out to all who are grieving today, and to those students who were called Home, God Bless each of you!  You are ALL Virginia Tech!!!

What strength we around the world have seen in you all this week as you deal with this tragedy.

You’ve cried and hugged and supported each other ... and you’ve held your heads high and shown us all what it truly means to prevail.

With honor, grace, and greatness Virginia Tech and the Hokie nation carries on ... the world thanks you.

I suppose that it would be inconsiderate and thoughtless to try to give some sort of pious “assembly-line” word of comfort, so I won’t do that. But please do know that I am praying for you all.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!

My condolences and thoughts and prayers go out to all the families that lost someone and to the 6 people that are in the hospital. and i do agree with how they should stop showing the media about the gunman. They should be paying more attention to what it has done to the students and staff members. None of the students want to see his face ok well some do and some dont because he is getting what he wanted. I am from South Dakota and my heart dropped when i heard what happened. Virginia Tech Blessing

Wishing you words that will comfort
The unfathomable pain.
Memories that will lift sadness to joy
If only for brief moments
Through the journey ahead…

May you have wildflower meadows,
Friends to hug.
Fresh air to swathe you
With curative love.

May you one day find solace
In universal esteem,
Enveloping you and your dear one
With infinite calm.

May you know that the nation
Is mourning beside you,
Your healing will be our healing
We compassionately wait.

Condolences won’t erase sorrows, but a firm hope of seeing again those slain places a better path beneath the feet. Place your hope in Christ. He’s the only one who offered up hope for a sure life after death. God bless you Virginia Tech. We are all Hokies with you now.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been devastated by this tragedy.  As a alumnus (’84), I am stunned that such hatred could exist at the University I love.  May God bless and hold close the victims, may He bring solace and comfort to their families and friends, and may He bring forth good from this senseless tragedy.

With deepest sympathy,

I offer this poem to you that you may find some comfort very soon from the words within the poem.  May God bless and keep you in the days and weeks to come.  May you find some comfort in knowing so many people are thinking of you, your families and the loved ones you have lost.

Weep not for me though I am gone
Into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long
Upon my soul’s sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul’s at rest
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.

Go Hokies!

Let not the actions of a domestic terrorist, another coward who slaughtered innocent unarmed civilians, deter you from fulfilling your hopes & dreams as some of Americas best and brightest. Keep your chin up, put on the whole armor of God, and find a way to serve your Country in perhaps preventing this type of terror from ever happening again. Our prayers are for the slain and their families in this senseless tragedy, the survivors who will deal with this loss, and for the rest of our Countrymen to contemplate from this insanity that if we don’t stop terrorists proactively we will surely reap their senseless fanaticism on our soil.

32 LIVES. 32 Lives were taken by a coward with his guns, Leaving many people devastated and sadend by the loss of family and friends, Leaving parents without daughters and sons. The question why keeps repeating in our minds, searching for the answer of how anyone can take 32 lives. Hopes, plans and dreams of those 32, that can never be bought back, The hopes and dreams of loved ones that they will now lack. All that there is left are pictures and the good memories of those 32 who died, not forgetting 32 new stars that shine brightly in the night sky. God recieved 32 new angels that day, and each and everyone of them are special in every kind of way. much love sent to the friends and families of the victims, aswell as the students of Virginia tech university. I take the sorrow that you all feel very personally. Virginia Tech is the place where I became who I am today. My experience at VT and the people I met there are directly responsible for everything my life has been since then, and my life has been made forever better because I was there. Since I finished my education I have still worked closely with the faculty and graduate students on research projects. Despite the dark days that you experience now, your life will also be forever better because of your experience at one of the country’s finest and most respected universities. You will be forever stronger.
