Dear VT community,
You are in our thoughts and prayers - especially the families who have lost your loved ones. With you, the whole nation laments in numbed silence at this meaningless and horrific tragedy which has brought so much suffering to all of you. We will light candles in memory of those who were so violently taken away from you when we gather at the church in the weeks to come.

As a student it is extremely difficult to imagine something like this, and it is equally difficult to put into words how much I feel for you. I’ve read biographies of victims including interests in dance, international studies, and languages so much like myself. This could have been anyone’s school. Lean on eachother and heal together! you earn so much respect, you’re a prime example to all schools. R.I.P. to all victims, you will be remembered for your bravery and the unique people you were.

we are one,

What words of comfort can one say
to drive this bitter pain away?

What acts of kindness can one do
to take this sorrow now from you?

There is no thing mere men bestow
to cease these tears that now do flow.

So who can soothe a broken heart?
Or chase the pain and love impart?

No mere man, it’s truly said,
but God’s own Son who died and bled.

Jesus is the only One
whose love can change what death has done.

And in the anguish of the soul,
his love comes in and makes you whole.

Only He can hold you now
in loving arms and peace endow.

His gentle hands will wipe the tears.
His light will chase away life’s fears.

These eyes are not yet meant to see
the reason for death’s tragedy.

But faith we have, and hope, and love
in God the Father up above.

That all shall work to His good will
and pain in us will strength reveal.

For life is but a testing ground
it’s in these trials our faith is found.

Take hope, o soul, in Christ the King.
His hands, to you, will comfort bring.

"America” Shares Your Pain!
From coast to coast…
Your pain is felt…
And shared by all…
By what was dealt.

We’re still in shock…
And disbelielf…
How just one soul…
Could cause such grief!

What spurs a mind…
For such attack…
And spuelch out life…
With such an act?

The deep dark answers…
May have died…
And only guesses…
Might now reside.

But for the moment…
Let’s console the living…
And honor the fallen…
Who died unwilling!

Few words can change…
Or mend the hearts…
Of those in mourning…
And torn apart…

But we are with you…
And join your hand…
And share your loss…
Across this Land!

Dedicated to all those at..."Virginia Tech.”

When I heard about the shooting, I just felt sick inside. The shots recorded on the mobile phone..

I don’t know how the families are holding up, but all the way from Australia, I give my best wishes, I pray that everybody can someday move on and continue with life.

I also hope that the students of VT can work together and get to know their class mates, maybe it will prevent such a “loner” from going on a rampage.

God Bless you all, and may all the victims, Rest In Peace.

From the day I opened my acceptance letter, I will always be a Hokie. We all talk about the human spirit and on this site it very much feels like a “Hokie Spirit” has taken over. I read postings from rival school students/Alumni and cannot even remotely express how touched I am. Not sure if this is true, but I heard that UVA students wore Maroon/Orange yesterday. What a moving way to express your support.
I talk like I am a current student but I graduated from VT in 1989. VT people believe once a Hokie, ALWAYS A HOKIE. That continues even in Hokie Heaven where God’s open arms are holding the victims now. At least that is how I see it in my mind. I will keep praying for Hokies everywhere. If it hurts this bad for me, I just can’t imagine how it must hurt anyone directly affected.
For the family and friends of the victims, please know that our thoughts and prayers are focused on you today. None of us will ever forget but we need to forgive to start healing. Let’s lean on each other through prayers, postings and show our “Hokie Hope” by wearing Maroon/Orange every chance we get. Stand tall, proud & UNITED as Hokies.
We are Virginia Tech!
We are a Hokie Nation!
All who support us are Hokies too!

Dear Vt students, faculty and family members.

When I heard the news Monday,I thought someone was joking, another school shooting.
Then I turned on the news and heard the full story..I’m shocked that someone can cause this much pain to others.
I wish you all the luck in the future, and hope you can come to terms with this event, however unlikely that may be.

My deepest condolences and good luck to all of you

A tragedy such as this one should have never happened.  I have a 16 year old daughter who wants to go to college and it just scares me so much to think that this could happen to her.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families, the staff members and everyone who has been hit with this terrible act of evil. I wish for everyone involved of their minds and spirits will heal with time, but that the ones who are no longer around will never be forgotten.  Please plant a garden in honor of those we all lost as I feel that these children and staff members are a part of us all…

My wife is South Korean. And she feels such deep shame and sadness.

She hopes that you understand that this person does not represent the Korean people.

Here is a song that she hopes may bring hope, and stop a young person from doing this ever again.

It is a Simple Simple Song of Grace. (no matter your country of birth, or the shape of your eyes, or your particular religion, or where you migrate, we can get along. And sing. That is our vision.

If we could, we would hug all of you at VT, your family and friends.

We feel such sorrow. If something can bring hope, or prevent just one person from taking this path . . .

As I sit here at my computer wanting to say something , I know that nothing I say can or will make the hurt you feel go away.

I must commend everyone that I have seen footage of, on various media outlets, for the way they have maturely handled themselves in this time of what I’m sure can only be described as mass confusion and sadness.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

As one of Koreans, I feel sorry to all victims, not just because the murderer is Korean, but we know well about the fear and grieve of massacre, fully experienced in Korean War.

I have a child away at college and I have been moved to tears at the inexplicable suffering inflicted on your hearts and minds.

My heart is heavy and weeps for your loss. I pray for your comfort and the strength you need to overcome the pain you must endure.

As a lover of the soothing power of words and music, here are a few lines from BeeBee Winans of the well known family of gospel artists:

“ ... After you’ve prayed and cried,
cried and prayed
All through the night

After you plant your feet
Squared your shoulders
Hold your head up, and wait on him
He’s gonna come through, yes he will

After you’ve done all you can
You just stand”

My deepest sympathy.
