as parents of three wonderful children and as citizens of this too much troubled world, we are deeply sad, angry, worried but unfortunately helpless, facing this terrible tragedy. no words can express what we would like to say to the parents of the dead children/students, and to the families of the professors who were killed during that black day.we are with you…

May their souls rest in peace.

It is unimaginable that the beautiful VT campus has been gripped with such horror. Yet out of the depth of this heartache we see the candles of hope and renewal. Share your grief and reach out to each other so that goodness and kindness can overcome the darkness of hate and despair. Let your Hokie Spirit soar! God Bless You.

To the Faculty, Families and Students of VT -

My heart is with you as a mother of two university students and as a professor.
May God hold you in the palm of his hand and close to his heart.

There will be a great deal of stooping and building in the months ahead for Virginia Tech, beginning with the battered souls of our friends.  I implore my fellow Hokies to prepare to begin building again as soon as you have the strength to.

"To be a Virginian, either by birth, marriage, adoption, or even on one’s mother’s side is an introduction to any state in the Union, a passport to any foreign country, and a benediction from Almighty God” Anonymous

I am by birth, marriage and almost on my mother’s side so. Virginia Tech Hokies take the words of Professor Giovanni to heart. You are VIRGINIA Tech.  Take the love and care that pours out to you from all around the world and draw strength from it.  Love and remember the victims; seek out to help the pain of the friends who struggle.  Remember that all grieve in each their own way, and that it is never too soon to laugh again.

You are VIRGINIA Tech and the world is with you.

In Memorium

You touch our hearts in many ways; you lift our spirits with a gentle gaze. Your benevolent eyes glow with eternal love, a soothing light from heaven above. Your radiant smiles are nascent sun rays, piercing the clouds and brightening our days. The warmth of your hand and the sound of your voice rejuvenates our souls and makes us rejoice. You have the gift of eminent grace; God blessed you with an angel’s face.

Hello my name is Axie i live in southern arizona. i go to buena high school. i first heard about what happened there from my mother i was on my way home with one of my friends when i got a text message from my mom saying that when i got home i had to watch the news. I am not the one you would ever catch watching the news but after my mom told me that there was another school shooting she caught my attention. she told me that there were 32 people killed including the shooter killed in Virginia Tech Collage and i was shocked.. i personally don’t like to hear or read about that kind of stuff cause i am very soft hearted and stuff like that devastates me. but she said i need to sit down and watch it cause its stuff like that is very important to know about and from that moment on i have been watching the news to find out how everything goes. i am terribly sorry about what has happened to you all, and i know that u all are as devastated or more upset about it than i but i just want to send my prayers and hope to help the ones who have lost their friends family or loved ones in this horrible murder. i am terribly sorry and i pray that u all find the hope to recover from this horrible experience.
yours truly

Although I am a Fordham and Maryland alum, I absolutely love VT because I am a Hokie Dad.  There are no words to describe how sorry I feel about this senseless tragedy.

As a former first responder (firefighter), I feel that under the circumstances the Administration and the Tech Police did an excellent job in responding to the events of April 16.  I know how difficult it is to make split-second decisions while trying to piece-meal together information from various sources, separate fact from fiction while constantly communicating with various entities – ALL IN REAL TIME.  To those who have never been responsible for the safety of a large number of people while trying to perform the above-mentioned tasks, I ask that you stay silent on this issue and do some good by praying for the victims and their families.

Nothing can stop VT from continuing to be a great university and produce such excellent graduates.  It is not surprising that such a wonderful institution has Ut Prosim (Latin for “That I May Serve") as its motto.

Next time I see “my Hokie,” who is serving on a U.S. Navy submarine, I will hug him just a little bit tighter.  God bless the victims and their loved ones.

Hokie Students, Alumni, Faculty and Staff, Our hearts have been broken but our spirit stands strong and will never be conquered.  We too shall rise and overcome all obstacles, celebrate the lives of those we’ve lost and the sense of serenity that we all know as Blacksburg.  Many of us left our families for what we thought was an academic education and instead received an education in devotion, love and compansion within the Hokie family.

In the wake of this tragedy, it is inspiring to witness the hokie nation show the world the love and loyalty we all have to our beloved alma mater.

It is equally inspiring to witness the compassiona and support shown by this great nation.

I have always been proud to be a hokie, and now, I am even more proud.  God bless the 32 and their families.  “Hoki, Hoki, Hoki, Hy. Techs, Techs, V.P.I. VT for life!”

To all of the students and staff at Virgina Tech. I don’t think there is anything I can say that can even describe the events of 16 April 2007. This is a day that will never be forgotten and is burned in our minds forever. My heart goes out to the families of the victims May God be with you through these hardest times. I have gone through similar events so I know what emotions are going through the survivors minds. I ask that each and every person talk with someone regarding the events that unfolded. I didn’t go to any counselors so I punished myself longer than I would have had I spoke with someone right when the tragedy struck. I will keep VT in my prayers in hopes that everyone can lead the most productive lives from here on out. God Bless You All.

This tragedy is beyond words, and it’s horrifying to be going through it.  These types of things change us, but never forget how you feel now, for your feelings at this moment must be remembered to help prevent this in the future as we teach our kids the values in life.  Although you’re going through a hard time, your friends, family and community are there to support you.  New Yorkers still remember how it feels when a psycho takes away the people you care about.  But you must always have hope in the future.  I will pray for you all.

Best of Luck On Your Goals

I am sure you will accomplish the many goals you set out to achieve.
You are a determined smart and independent individual that is fair and compassionate.
You are outgoing and get along well with others.
Even though life throws us curves, you will stay on course and bring sunshine to others even when the rain clouds are storming.
I wish you the best in all you do.

My son is a high school junior who has proudly worn his VT t-shirt and drank from his VT mug for the past couple of years.  I hope that he will one day be a Hokie.  My prayers are with everyone affected by this tragedy.  The following is for those who grieve the loss of a loved one or friend.

I give you this
one thought to keep-
I am with you still
I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken
in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars
that shine at night.

Do not think of me as gone-
I am with you still
in each new dawn.

-A Native American Prayer

May God bless you and keep you.

From around the world the HOKIE NATION is united.  I pray for all that this has affected.  My tears have come and gone and come back like everyone else.  This is such a tragic tail for VT.  Now we know that it is not something we did, but maybe something we should have recognized.  In any event, we will all learn from this.  Everyone, not just us HOKIES, need to be strong, be observant, and be helpful to all.  I see our HOKIE NATION standing strong everywhere I look and the support from others is overwhelming.  Let’s just remember the words from such a wonderful service, “We Are Virginia Tech, We Are Virginia Tech, We are Virginia Tech”!

I was deeply saddened when i learned of what happened at virginia tech, i couldn’t pull myself away from the t.v. because i couldn’t believe what i was witnessing. Since that monday morning every morning on my way to work i pray for those lives lost and for their families and loved ones who are in pain. I lost my mom when i was very young, so i ask her to take care of them and for those parents who have lost their child, she will take good care of them. I pray that as time goes by their hearts will heal and be at peace. I may not of known anyone who was lost that day, but what i know for sure is that i will never forget those who lost their lives that day, they will always have a place in my heart and prayers.  victoria
