I work in a high school as a counselor and I want the families and community to know that you are in the thoughts, hearts, and prayers of everyone in the community where I work and live. This is the kind of tragedy that we sadly have all come to dread, yet it is still so shocking when it happens.  I hope in time there will be positive changes that come from this and that as many lives are some day saved from something learned as those that were so wrongfully lost in this incident.

Virginia Poly Tech, what a wonderful university and so reminded me of a similiar looking campus in Macomb, Illinois. As an alumni of Western Illinois University, and as a former Resident Advisor or RA as they are known, I can only honor the memory of the brave RA who tried to come to the rescue of one of his dorm kids as most RA’s refer to those they are responsible for. So many hero stories and so little space to share the thoughts. And as a former vocational instructor I would like to just thank those wonderful professors who gave of themselves, both in life and in death for their students. My sincere sadness and sympathy for all of the Hokies.

From my work as Student Services Representative, at a 2 yr Technical College, I realize that we cannot be mind-readers and are often called upon to play judge when certain situations arise.  Those who are employed with higher education are most often not in it for the money, but for promoting the success of others to better our city, state and country.  I’m sure the personnel at VA Tech did their best at the time of crisis.  Any criticisms should be turned into feasible solutions to change policies in the future as needs arise.  Hats off to those who took action and sympathy to those affected by the loss.

I am praying for everyone affected by this tragedy. For all of you who survived, please don’t allow this one person to ruin your future. Allow yourself to grieve and move forward. You don’t have to forget what happened and the people who were lost but don’t let this one person ruin your future for that would be an even greater tragedy. The best tribute to those who were lost will be for each of you to move forward and to secure all of the many blessings that are waiting for you. My thoughts and prayers for peace, comfort and healing are with each and every one of you. As a UVA alum I never thought I would say this but through this tragedy we are all HOKIES. We mourn with you, we feel your pain, and we lift you up in prayer.

My heart and prayers go out to everyone affected by this tragedy and to remind students at VT to keep their heads high as they mourn their fallen friends.  Your united spirits are more influencial than any man-made gun, and even though it cannot bring back our loved ones, it can bring hope to those who most need it.  The entire nation is praying for you, especially your brothers and sisters at California Lutheran University.

As a grauduate of LSU I would like to express my condolences for your terrible loss.

In 2002, I attened the LSU v. Virginia Tech game.  Despite the outcome of that game, I have nothing but wonderful memories of Blacksburg, your campus, and your fans.

In 2005, LSU among other campuses in Louisiana, suffered from its own tragedy--Hurricane’s Katrina and Rita.  The people of Virginia and Virginia Tech opened their heart and its campus to students from Louisiana.  Your kindness has not been forgotten.

LSU and the State of Louisiana have you in their prayers and their hearts. We look forward to the arrival of VT’s fans for a rematch in the fall.  I have no doubt you will feel embraced by the city of Baton Rouge and LSU’s campus, who mourn with you.

Below is a link from a great article from a Baton Rouge newspaper.  It warmed my heart. I hope it can do the same for you!

Words can not express the sorrow my heart feels for the Virginia Tech community.  There is nothing I can say that will ease the pain or take away the grief that you are experiencing during this time of tragedy.  But, I am writing to let you know I care and I am sorry.  Though I am a Tarheel by “birth”, part of my heart became a Hokie on April 16th...nothing will ever change that.  Please know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of so many people across this nation.  God bless you all.

To all the Virginia Tech students- you are in my prayers. I can’t imagine what it must be like to lose friends, classmates, brothers, and sisters in such a horrible way. As a college student I am so proud of the way that the VT students are pulling together and really showing what a true campus community is all about. The strength, supportiveness, and love that I see on the news reports shows everyone that hatred and fear can’t win.

Having taught at Virginia Tech for five years, I know well what a tightly knit community you are, and how you are suffering.  A part of me has always remained in Blacksburg, so I share admittedly at a distance your suffering. One consolation I take is knowing just how much support, love, and care you are giving to one another in these days.  Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.  Peace to you.
