I was ten minutes away from Columbine High School when that tragedy mother was just minutes away from Kent State University when those killings took place...and even though we are all the way across the country, each of these incidents makes this horrific massacre hit home for me. I cannot even begin to express my deepest sorrow for all of the victims and the friends and families of the victims whose lives were so recklessly and carelessly taken this week.  It is an unspeakable tragedy and no words will fill the void you have in your hearts.  Just know that I will be thinking of all of you out here at Colorado State University.  You must band together as a community--that is the only way that your sorrows will begin to fade, though they will never go away.  I am so very sorry you have to endure this pain.

Dear Americans,

We, Korean would express condolence to the Whole American regarding this tradegy. This words come from our heart.

Most Korean think Americans are our old trustable friends, even though there is a different opinion on handling North Korea. We are frustrated how this kind of anguish comes between friends.

I would like to pray for the souls of the departed.

I spent 4 of the greatest years of my life at Tech and I love it as much today as I did when I graduated in 2004. It’s amazing, although not surprising, how strong and enduring the Virginia Tech family is. Our Hokies are going through this tragic and difficult time in front of the World and they are doing so with exceptional grace and compassion.

I am proud to be a Hokie.
We will prevail.

To My Hokies…
To those we lost and those that remain
By Paul Gentilini (VT Class of 2002)

Brothers and sisters unite
Let us stand firm
Let us recall this time
Not for dark, but for light

Let us pull together
Let us never forget
Let us always remember
Those friends that have left

Through faith in our Father
Give us strength to go on
Let us always remember
Those who are gone

Let us never forget when
We were unified
The day our friends we lost,
Our fellowmen died

Help this to be a time of brotherhood
Help this to cause within a change
Help us this time to call on God
Who in our weakness, gives us strength

Let our families be comforted
Our children cry’s be heard
Let our grief be turned to reverence
Let our comfort be in Your Word

For those that remain, to all our brethren
May God bless us all.

i met jamie in 2001 when he served as the IT support person for the math department at unc chapel hill. his friendliness and professionalism were exceptional, and he clearly enjoyed helping faculty conquer any number of computer-related problems. the first time he came to my office, we immediately hit it off, as we discovered we shared many of the same favorite bands and artists. he quickly became one of my favorite new friends in chapel hill. his kind-heartedness and sense of humor illuminated the lives of all who knew him. he especially loved recounting how he and his wife steffi met while he was teaching in germany. he was a gifted artist, and i had the great pleasure of him sharing some of his digital photography and design with me. i remember how happy and proud he was when his cover art was selected by Golden Gryphon publishing for a soon-to-be-published collection of his father’s short stories. it is impossible to articulate the sorrow and hurt i feel for his wife and loved ones. although my heart is shredded, as i taught my classes today, i kept seeing his truly infectious smile as he would tease me about my neil young obsession. thank you, jamie, for sharing your light with us. i am honored to know you.

No words can heal the pain VT and the United States as a whole feel, but as we have seen through past tribulations, we are not a country to live in fear and we are not a country to ignore our brothers or sisters in their times of need. The needs of the victims, survivors, families, students and everyone around the world affected by this tragic event are in our thoughts and prayers. Peace be with all of us, in this, our moment of need.

“For your Heavenly Father knows that you need these things. But seek first the kingdom
of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”

"And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.  And the One seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new.” Also, he says: “Write, because these words are faithful and true.”
-Revelation 21:4, 5

“Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.”
