What happened on April 16th was shocking, cruel and senseless and worst of all it was perpetrated on people who were to have been the future leaders of our society.

In the words of president bush, “adversity doesn’t just test character, it reveals it”

You guys are going to come back from this, and you’re going to come out stronger than ever before.

I’m at a loss; there are no words that can console.  I can’t fathom what my fellow Hokies have had to go through this week.  As deeply affected as we alumni are, we cannot begin to understand what those of you who were on campus feel.  But we are here for you.  We will serve you in any way we can, because that is what we Hokies do:  we serve.

We will set an example for the world on how to respond to tragedy.  We will not let the hate that fueled this tragedy overpower us; we will defeat it and defy it.  We will make the victims proud as they made us proud.  We will continue to serve the world around us, and in so doing will serve their memories.  Because that is what we Hokies do:  we serve.

I believe in Virginia Tech.  I believe that those of you who were there will rise above this.  I believe that, through ut prosim, we can all honor the victims’ lives.  I believe we will all get through this together, by doing what we Hokies do:  we serve.

Your alumni are here to serve you; take our hands and we WILL find a way to heal.

I’m from a secundary school in Belgium and I was shocked when i heard the news. We talked about it in our English courses and the only thing we could say was “Why?”.

All those people who died, they had a whole life ahead of them, a beautiful, succesful life. How can a person be so selfish, to take all these happy, young people with him in his damned destiny?

I want to support everyone in this school with all my heart. It will take a long time to go on with your life, but the day will come and then you have to seize it, how hard it might be.

Our hearts are with you all during this horrible time, and pray that God’s grace and love fill you and yours.  May you find rest and peace in HIM, and know that the world grieves with you as you grieve.

To all of the Virginia Tech Family:

I found comfort in seeing this link, because I needed so much to reach out to all of you and send my prayers to you all. My heart BREAKS for you all, and my prayers for you all are incessant. My daughter is a freshman at FSU, and has called home in tears several times, just in devastating pain for you all and the loss of all of these wonderful young people and professors.

Please know that the Virgnia Tech flag flies on my car now, right next to our Seminole memoribilia.

There truly are no words. Just know, as a mother of a college student - I reach out to all of the parents, family members, friends, staff, and injured with a heart so heavy that it hurts for you - more than words can even describe.

As I said earlier - I will pray incessantly for all of you. The prayers from around the country and the world with help to sustain you, this I know.

May our God continue to hold you in his arms and keep you close to Him now, and in the days to come.

Words cannot begin to describe the sadness and horror many of us felt when the news of the senseless tragedy unfolded this week. As a mother, I cannot begin to imagine the horror and anguish parents have felt, and continue to feel. It breaks my heart to see so many college kids, who should be focusing on their studies, hanging out with their friends, or whatever—now have to find a way to deal with their grief and sadness. My prayers and thoughts go out to all of you at Virginia Tech and the entire community. Please don’t feel alone. There are so many who are praying for you during this awful, tragic time.

I would like to share my condolences with every family and friend of the Virginia Tech victims. I had classes in Norris Hall over the summer and this really hit close to home for me. I have everyone in my prayers and I hope that as time goes on you find the capability to heal, but keep all victims close to your heart. I know they will be missed, but we should celebrate their memory. I Love You Virginia Tech, and We Will Come Out On Top!

The Regis College community extends condolences to Virginia Tech and expresses our solidarity with all of you as a campus.  The VT convocation yesterday riveted our attention as it provided a VT, a local, and a national channel of grief and commitment to go on with purpose.

Here at Regis College—a Catholic college—we held a prayer vigil in solidarity with VT at noon yesterday…. Prayers for all of you as you work through this tragedy.  What happens at VT in the next few weeks will have positive effects … for campuses all over the country as we all think through our positions on open campuses and non-violence and develop suitable preventative actions and responses to cultural issues of violence.

They wll not be forgotten and they have all touched several peoples lives. My deepest sympathy to those families and friends that have lost. God bless you.

It is with deep sadness that my family conveys their sypathy to the Virginia Tech Hokie Nation.  This has closely impacted the immediate families, but it is obvious the closeness of the alumni, current students and faculty that it has touched deeply all who are a part of the VT community.  We bow our heads to mourn with you. But we also stand strong and clear with you also.  Even though my family are West Virginia Mountaineers; not just April 16th or just today, but for as long as you need us...We are Hokies.  My family will be in orange and maroon on Friday. May the God of all comfort give you all peace.  Doug & Terresa Hayward and family.

Dear Families of V-Tech students and staff, I will NEVER forget the way I felt when watching the news on April 16th ... put simply, it was sheer HOROR. I could not turn away. Flipped channel to channel (did not sleep at all ... went straight to work in a haze) and with tears streaming down my face, I shuttered contemplating what I would have done if it were I in a classroom with open fire. I was saddened so very much and it made me think of a personal tradgedy (losing my 29yr old brother in May 2005). There truly are NO WORDS to express the depths of pain, loss, anger, hopelessness, and sorrow. Life ... there are no guarantees. Please know just how much I admire you all; For your Strength, your Hope, and your Loss. All the best at this time, from Dre Feliz Vasquez

This is so heartbreaking to hear of this tragedy. So many young lives taken away much too soon and they had their whole future ahead of them. May God give you the strength to cope each day and hope that He eases your pain every hour, every day, every week and through the years because it will take time. You will be never far from our thoughts and prayers.
