Condolences, April 19, 2007

When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they will always fall - think of it, Always.
-Mahatma Gandhi

My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of all those lost, and also with the entire Virginia Tech community.  We must remain strong and find hope in one another.  This is not an easy time, and we will continue to grieve for however long it takes, even a lifetime.  I pray that God watch over you in your time of need, and that all your sufferings diminish with the emergence of light through hope and faith.  As Gandhi once said, truth and love will prevail.  God Bless you all.

My heart goes out to each and everyone of you be strong and keep God in your hearts and each other close.  We pray for everyone there at such a time it should be a great experience at college with friends, family and staff.  You should not have to worry at being safe at college where your life is the being of a wonderful time of learning, living with all different types of people learning from one another and getting to know each other as closely as you do.  What a wonderful time it should be. Stay close pray and forgive.  It is the hardest thing you will ever have to do is forgive.  But your love ones, roommates, friends and professors would want that from everyone.  Again, my heart goes out to each and everyone of you.  May God keep you all close and safe.

To the Blacksburg community, VT students and every family member affected by this heinous tragedy. We do not understand why we have tragedies in our lives, but continue to trust in the Lord as He is still in control. We will all understand “WHY” when we meet Him. My sincere prayers are that you look to God for your comfort and strength.

God Bless You .........

Dear Hokies,

Several years ago I lost a close friend named Brian to a senseless murder. He was a art major fascinated with sketching wild flowers that grew randomly in fields. Brian believed wild flowers were “subtle reminders from heaven that beauty still exists in the world.” I loved his perspective on life & miss him.

Each one of you touched by tragedy will ride a roller coaster of emotion, riding waves of extreme sadness and anger. Your feelings are perfectly normal & part of the grieving process.  You may struggle to make sense of what has occurred, wondering if you could have done something differently to alter the course of events. Do not drown yourself in guilty thoughts because no one has the power to alter the past. We can only move forward with courage, despite the darkness attempting to suffocate our faith in humanity. Your loss is great but hope survives, it is found in your community; in the love, support and prayers -from around the globe- surrounding you. The memories of those lost continue to live on because the light of Love is Eternal.

It can never be extinguished by any act of evil or violence.

Through your tears and your healing, the wild flowers still grow.

Love & Light,

Center of learning
The Best of the best
Gathered from around this great nation and earth

Teachers and students
Gathered together
To make this world better – not worse

Beautiful campus
Steeped in tradition and honor
Founded on what is good and what is right

A whole community of people
Whose mission it was
To help mankind in his plight

A cool brisk spring morning
Snow flurries scattered about
The innocence was shattered like a glass

As a rampage went on
In classrooms and halls
First a dorm and then
French, German, Engineering, and Math

A whole campus in shock
And yes even the whole world
As details of how many and who

Each life that was lost
Is a dream unfulfilled
A story that has ended too soon

Each life is a candle
That shines in the night
As we look up at the bright moon

Their lives may be ended
But their legacy will live on
In every student that will seek to learn more

The halls will resound
With their voices and dreams
As each of us remember what took place on those floors

This campus has always been known for the best
But now a new strength has emerged
As each student, teacher, and alumni
Join together in honoring the spirit
Of the fallen who have now become
Hokie Angels

With Love From Above

by Rose Ann Jenneman

Like a thief in the night,
gathers this precious soul
Without a single fight,
to make his body whole.

The child God delivered,
he’s now taken away.
Not a sound can be heard,
there’s nothing he can say.

Warm sunlight all around,
as peacefulness is felt.
My final home I’ve found,
the winning card is dealt.

Don’t shed a tear for me,
I don’t want you to cry.
Fond memories the key,
while looking at the sky.

I’m up here, looking down,
knowing how much you care.
Think of me as the clown,
when sorrows hard to bear.

I’ll be with you always,
No matter where you’ll be.
Happy thoughts fill your days
I love you all, from ME.
from the heart

Now days, there should be absolutely no wonder as to why and how a public tragedy can hit so close to home; we truly are living in days where the once respected and sought after American Dreams are uncertain as the cup continues to run over with violence among us.

I know of one young man and his family in this sad story; just another kid having a dream of going to college and ultimetely being a successful individual and citizen within society, all this to live out his American Dream, but now shadowed with a heart breaking chapter.
No doubt God was with Zach Vane that terrible day this past Monday in Virginia.

Our hearts are deeply sad for what has happened to all faculty, students and especially the families of those whom have lost their loved ones.
Your hearts will mend to some degreee again some day, but for now, look up not down, for it is their you will find due comfort and love in all of this. May our personal love and prayers be with all of you for ever and ever and ever.

To all those at Virginia Tech and the families of the victims-

May the God of peace and comfort be with you in your time of grief and sorrow.  There is nothing that can be said or done that will make it better, but God is able to be with you and heal you in the days to come.  Please know all the people that are praying for you across the nation and the world.  It hurts knowing this occured at a university.  All college students across the nation sympathize as we all go to school as a safe place for learning and growth.  I am praying for all of you.  God will always be with you!
