Condolences, April 19, 2007

I am deeply saddened by the senseless killings at our school Monday.  My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, the student body, and the faculty.
At the same time I am very proud of students for the way they have handled themselves during this difficult time.  I am very proud to be a Hokie.

This was a horrible tragedy and extremely unnecessary. These innocents lost their lives because one insecure man was unstable. The world needs to crack down harder on people they don’t trust like Cho Seung-Hui. Not just my thoughts and prayers but my heart goes out to all of the families and friends who lost a loved one. It is a day we will all remember as Virginia’s own 9/11. Virginia’s own college Columbine. But through this we will work. Not just for today, but everyday FROM NOW ON, we are ALL HOKIES!!!!

Such tragedy is heart-wrenching.  I am praying for all those involved and for our country that we might be able to endure yet another despicable act of terror.

As a returning college student and a senior, I have come to embrace the utter confusion and creative energies of campus life.  Yet, this week, a lurking shadow of apprehension and mistrust clouded the classroom.  As a mother of three college students, I was compelled to gather them together, desperate to create a capsule of protection around them.  The tragedy of VT has touched the world in so many ways.  Yes, violence occurs every day.  But, when havens, sanctuaries like church and schools, are breached, we are left holding our breathe, frozen and fearful.  To all who are beaten and raw from this experience, I extend a wish for hope.  May we again find a sense of peace.  To the family, friends, staff and students of those lost, you are not alone.  The world around you holds you in their hearts and in their prayers. Peace be with you.

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.  I know the Hokie spirit is strong and that we will carry on, but sadly it will be without 32 members of our hokie family.

To the Virginia Tech community,

To simply state that I am so sorry that this tragedy happened does not begin to describe what is in my heart for you all.  Take every day as it comes and stay strong for yourselves and each other.

We are all of one race, the human race. We all bare the suffering of such a tragedity, but remember to not have hate in your heart. Hate is what causes terrible events.
I feel for everyone, and with my comment I give one more shoulder to lean upon.

Dear Friends,

Please accept my heartfelt condolences concerning all individuals, couples, and families that have been tragically affected by the horrific Virginia Tech shootings, on April 16, 2007, which shocked our nation and the entire world.

May the Lord’s blessings of comforting solace, continual peace, and abiding love sustain each family member, friend, and mourner of these fallen students and educators during this difficult time of sorrow and separation.  May each of you walk the path of bereavement with an enduring eternal perspective of the happy family reunion to come in a far brighter place.

I weep in grief for all the victims.  I pray for them that they may all rest in peace.  I am just a Fairfax Mom who is not directly connected with anyone in VA Tech but has a junior kid who wants to attend VA TEch in the very near future.  I have been in campus twice and is in awe of the university.
I can’t in anyway understand why this happened but can only say that God works in mysterious ways.  God Bless VA Tech and everyone who is trying to cope and heal......

God, being in control of the universe, can prevent suffering whenever He sees fit, but wherever free will exists, consequences of choice must also exist.  God cannot make us choose to abide with Him.  For now, God, tormented, waits upon us through one holocaust after another.  satan’s best deception is its general success in concealing its own reality from the human mind.  satan lashes out on the earth like a madman, setting people against each other all over the globe.  satan devastates many lives through starvation, alcoholism, substance abuse and pornography.  satan is at work in the holocaust of violent, disrespecting aborting of babies; narcissism; materialism; elitism; and the self-absorption we wallow in when we do not ensure our next generation is brought up in a culture with enriching, wholesome values.  If you are not living in touch with God, it is easy to blame Him or pass judgment on Him.  We experience suffering and temptation because mankind chose to follow satan.  God is reaching out to rescue us … God made nature to sing His praises, to declare His glory and to love Him.  He made humans with the ability to choose.  He could have ordered our obedience; instead, he calls for our heart.
