I would like to send my thoughts and prayers out to all of the students and family members at your college and city. This is truly an upsetting situation beyond words. I am a first time mom to a beautiful baby girl, who is almost nine months old, and it saddens me to know that she must grow up in a society where one must always be on guard for fear of the unknown. My clasmates and I ,here at Savannah Tech., are truly sorry for all of your loses and we pray that God will guide you in the right direction in coping with this tragic event. May God Bless you all and remember that those who lost their lives are up in heaven now shining down on you with their laughter and smiles!

As a mother of two and a step mother of four, and also as I just graduated from college myself last Spring and am currently working on my MA, I am shocked at this kind of violence.  It leaves me wondering what is happening to our society that our children are no longer safe at any formal institution.

My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to all who are suffering from the losses, the shock and the fear that now troubles even their sleep.

It is time for us as a nation to turn our hearts and minds upon the Lord as he is the only ‘fix’ that can heal our land.  A nation is truly in danger when its very children are harming and killing one another.  We must once again return to what this country was founded upon and remember that it is indeed “In God We [Can] Trust”.

As a Tech alumni who lived in West AJ, a chill ran down my spine when I heard the news.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims, their families and the entire Tech family.  We are a large school, but with a small family feel.  I am proud of the way Tech is handling this situation.  We will never forget this tragedy, but will get through it with Hokie Pride!

Virginia Tech - To the students, parents, and faculty-
Before Monday I never realized how delicate life is. How easliy it can be taken away, that we are truley just flesh and blood no matter how invincible we may feel. Tradigies like these remind people how short life can be, and that we shouldn’t fill our world with so much hate. One thing is an effect from another, everything happens for a reason. It is unbarable to think of a reason for this horrindous act, but there must of been a reason for the “Gunmen” to act the way he did. It angers me that there could be so much hate and just insane actions could be presented in our world. All the evil this man had presented to the world, Virginia Tech still stands strong, the people of Blacksburg still stand strong, and everyone else around the world stand strong with Virginia Tech. After all the hate and evil that was shown to the world by this one man, the result is just love. The love of the parents, students, and faculty. Be proud to be a hokie, stand strong as you have and remember those who were lost, not only by what happened Monday but by the memories you have had with them throughout the days. My thoughts are with you Virginia Tech, I will stand by you.  M&M

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4

Know we are with you in this time of sorrow.  We pray that you find the strength to continue.  To rise above this tragic day and move forward.  To take away some lesson from what has happened, yet not let it destroy you.  To find peace and the will to carry on.

The nation grieves with you now through your suffering and loss, and we will celebrate with you when you stand up and begin to live again.

Remember that you are loved.

My heart goes out to all who have been affected by this tragedy.  I doubt that no matter how many people say they are sorry will it ever change what has happened.  I believe its time for a change and time for someone to stand up and say, “we won’t be victims anymore.” I do believe that this could have been avoided, if someone had paid attention to this man and seen him spiraling out of controlling.........this so could have been avoided, just like the countless other times.  How many times do we need to be victims before we say that we need to protect our children sometimes from themselves.

To the families and friends of the victims of this senseless tragedy, my prayers are with you.  Look to the Lord for comfort, he has never once left your side during these tough times and will be by your side for the tough times to come.

I was a Virginia Tech student for the 2005-2006 academic year. Even though I am no longer enrolled at the University I am still a HOKIE at heart. I never imagined this tragedy could have or would have occured on that campus. I was on campus all day on April 17th 2007 and I will neVer forgeT how powerful it was. Virginia Tech will get through this. Of every school I have visited or have been a part of, none can even come close to having the strength and support Virginia Tech has. I pray for strength for all the students and faculty and I pray for all the families and friends of the innocent memebers who wrongfully had their lives ended all too short. In my heart Virginia Tech will always be.

I learned of this horrible tragedy when my husband called from work to inform me of what happened. I immediatley turned on the television and begain to cry. VT is very close in our hearts as they have done so much for my 4 year old daughter who is battling Leukemia and they have helped raise money for her hospital...St.Jude Childrerns Research Hospital. They made our family feel very welcomed and loved every time we were on campus. They treated Michaela as though she was the only child on earth. Showering her with gifts and their love. We will continue to pray for the families and survivors. We will hold a special place in our hearts for those who lost their lives on Monday ,April 16, 2007.
Rest In will now,& forever be with no worry and no pain.

Words cannot express my sympathy or inability to fully understand the incredable grief and sorrow of parents, students, and facualty at Virgina Tech.

Life as a student should be filled with warm memories and endless friendships.  Many have been denied this.  Nothing I say can really ease the hurt.  Unfortunately, the hurt has to happen now, and no one can change that.  But, I hope you find comfort knowing that people like myself (people you’ve never met,) and probably millions of others around world are greiving with you, praying for you, caring for you, and yes, love you.  My faith comforts me, knowing that they are in a better, safer, and perfect place.  We will see them again.

God’s speed,

A mournful cry
We are all asking why
Why someone would do that
To people so innocent.

They found the boy,
Who thought he didn’t belong
So he took it out on people
Who didn’t understand why he belonged!

A mournful cry
A mournful cry
That’s why we hear
Hear today.

Families all around the nation
Crying and saying sad salutations
Va Tech kids having sad days
May God be with them on this sorrowful day.

Keep the Hokie spirit alive,
Even though some died,
Just because he didn’t want to cry
Why, who would do such a thing
Kill 32 kids
On this beautiful day.

That stupid gun
Just had to go off
And those smart kids
Had to die.

Someone who killed the kids,
Who wanted understanding and knowledge
The ones who wanted to be
Teachers, farmers, electricians, and more.

The Hokie Love spread in that place
Everyone will pass this day
But will never forget this day.
Us brothers and sisters
Will never forget.

So God be with us,
Let us remember the good times.
On this day of mournful cry,
April 16, 2007.

May the soft winds freshen your spirit
May the sunshine brighten your heart
May the burdens of the day rest lightly upon you
And may God enfold you in the mantle of His love.
