As a mother of three I hugged my children tighter and longer and told them I loved them even more. A tradegy like this shows how fragile life can be. To each and every mother, father, sibling, and friend of the 32 that were taken from us - God Bless you and may you find comfort, my thoughts and prayers are with you.  Tracy

I wish to express my condolences to all involved, and to let you know that around the world people stand shoulder to shoulder with you in support, cry with you in your loss and whisper prayers with hoarse voices. It is always a tragedy when one passes, so much more so when many are lost at once and in such a heart wrenching way. Once more, my condolences.

We can not imagine the emotions the VT students, staff, families and friends are going through at this time.  May you find strength and comfort in each other and move forward.  Never forget, but try to find forgiveness for an individual that may not have know what path to follow.
Don’t let hatred fill your hearts (or any of our hearts) or the person responsible will win.
Life is so precious and too short.
Prayers and thoughts are with the VT community.

The hearts of the nation and the world are broken.  The students at VT need to know that their tragedy has spread to more simple places than they can imagine.  Here in South West Florida, every flag is lowered.  Everyone is touched by this.  Gain your strength back by knowing that this is not a VT or Virginia state issue, your sorrow is shared with the world.

The tragedy that has befallen us all is unacceptable, unexplainable, and horrific. It deeply saddens me that there are people in this world capable of such disgusting acts of violence. I extend my deepest feelings and thoughts to family, friends, and the VT community. I am so sorry.

To the Students, Families, and Faculty of VT

We like everyone else are shocked and in disbelief about the recent events at your campus. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this tragedy.

Although we did not personally know any of the victims we have cried tears of sadness for all involved. Your tragedy has touched our hearts more than you know.  May you find strength as a community, knowing that others so close and far are praying for you. Though we grieve the stories of human kindness and acts of courage from the survivors and those who lost their lives as they endured this horror is an inspiration to all of us.
Please stay strong and have faith and know the whole nation is grieving with you.

God Bless you
With Deepest Sympathy and Regards,
Wayne & Sissy Hartman

"Life ain’t always beautoful”

Life aint always beautiful
Sometimes it’s just plain hard
Life can knock you down, it can break your heart

Life aint always beautiful
You think you’re on your way
And it’s just a dead end road at the end of the day

But the struggles make you stronger
And the changes make you wise
And happiness has its own way of takin it’s sweet time

No, life aint always beautiful
Tears will fall sometimes
Life aint always beautiful
But it’s a beautiful ride

Life aint always beautiful
Some days I miss your smile
I get tired of walkin all these lonely miles

And I wish for just one minute
I could see your pretty face
Guess I can dream, but life don’t work that way

But the struggles make me stronger
And the changes make me wise
And happiness has its own way of takin it’s sweet time

No, life aint always beautiful
But i know i’ll be fine
Hey, life aint always beautiful
But it’s a beautiful ride
What a beautiful ride…

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro extends it’s deepest sympathies for all Hokies.

The future will be marred by this devastating tragedy.  We had a student get shot here and that sent a chill up our spines, but that is nothing in comparison to your loss.  As a future educator, I also feel the pain of walking into a classroom and not knowing what will happen next.

The faculty, staff, students, and alumni of UNCG are with you in every possible way, for today and everyday hereafter…

We are all Hokies.

Your grief is deeply felt at our hearts. In such a difficult time like this, only the love of God grants solace and healing power to the wounds. Know that even when things are in dark chaos, He is still very much in control.

I could not help but cry, these tears
The warmth of Spring I was denied
No more Hokies morning breeze
I cannot stay, my soul must hide

I, too shall be ensconced in this
Wrap my wholeness with sorrow
My heart shall go through all this grief
What about my yearning for tomorrow?

For who and what I had left behind
The pain stays endless and awhile
No more questions, nothing in mind
Make me alive, don’t ever say goodbye!

Time is slow, this test of healing
There is no rush, no anxiety to recover
Let the days flow, grieve in being
For no one knows, until it’s over

Fill the heart with hope, and cherish
To be healed, to have faith, to follow
Another Hokie Springtime I wish
Then, perhaps there would be tomorrow…

I dedicate this poem in memory of this tragedy. Katherine Mayo

It is so hard to believe that this tragic event has occurred. My heart goes out to all of those affected, especially the family and friends of those innocent victims. It is incredibly sad that this world will not benefit from the promising future all of those indivdiuals would have had. Upon learning about them, it is clear to see how ambitious, intelligent, and loved they all were. Our country has suffered a tremendous loss that no words can explain.
