My family and I send our most heartfelt sympathy to your school and community.  The loss of innocent lives is never easy to handle.  As a mother of three I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child.  I do know that God is still in control, and although we don’t always understand why things happen, we have to have the faith to know that His will is perfect.  I am praying for you all.  God bless and let the love that we are showing one another in this time of tragedy continue even after this is out of the spotlight.

As the mother of a recent Virginia Tech alumni, my heart goes out to the victims, family members and students and faculty of this tragedy.  As I watch the coverage, tears stream down my face in disbelief that this could happen anywhere, but especially at Virginia Tech.  My child had a wonderful college experience at Tech and I am saddened that these students will be forever scarred by this terrible event.  Our home proudly flies the “VT” flag in memory of the victims and in hope for love and healing for so many people touched this tragedy.

When the night is past and
the dawning of the new day
is about to break with
fresh hopes and dreams,
then you will hear…
the singing of the birds.

When storm clouds break to drift away
leaving bright patches of blue with
golden shafts of sunlight on
flower, leaf and water
sparkling with fresh drops of diamond rain,
then you will hear…
the singing of the birds.

Yes there are those times and places
when the cold winter ends
springtime returns.
The dark night of the soul
is dissolved in a happy daybreak.
The storm is over.
Then you will hear…
the singing of the birds.

To All Students, Families and Friends and Staff.

My thuoughts and prayers are with you. This is an Irish prayer which I hope may comfort you.

Fiona Lamont

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there… I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow…
I am the diamond glints on snow…
I am the sunlight on ripened grain…
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight…
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry—
I am not there… I did not die…

After I had read the news from my resident country, I cried. Why a lot of wise men were killed? I feel a big loss in my heart. I prayed for all of them to reach to holy place. If the U.S is still available for free trade in gun, I think it will not be strange that this kind of accident would happen again.

The days of the future stand in front of us
Like a line of candles all alight----
Golden and warm and lively little candles.

The days that are past are left behind,
A mournful row of candles that are out;
The nearer ones are still smoking,
Candles cold, and melted, candles bent.

I don’t want to see them; their shapes hurt me,
It hurts me to remember the light of them at first.
I look before me at my lighted candles.

I don’t want to turn around and see with horror
How quickly the dark line is lengthening,
How quickly the candles multiply that have been put out.

A poem by Constantine P Cavafy, 1899.

My thoughts are with you.

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Whatever we were to each other, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the same easy way you always have.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it always was.
There is absolute continuity.

Why should I be out of your mind
Because I am out of your sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
Somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.

All is well.
Nothing is past.
Nothing has been lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before..
Only better.

Infinitely happier.
We will be one,

Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your families, may you find hope and light at the end of your sadness.

Virginia Tech students, teachers, friends and families,
Words are not enough to describe pain, and sorrow. They never will be. But they can help.

April 16 was an event that although painfully, will be remembered. As will the victims, their families, and friends. Their legacy will live on; long after the pain has faded away.

Stay strong, stay together.

Whatever happens in life is not always under our control or within our realms of explanation. I am a Christian and I could sit here and try to explain a million reasons why this might happen. But sometimes words don’t work and so I thought of this amazing song by the band Casting Crowns.I want all of you to know that you are in my prayers and I hope that you can use God to comfort you in this time of mourning. Here is the Chorus to that song.

“Love The Like Jesus”

Just love her like Jesus, carry her to Him
His yoke is easy, His burden is light
You don’t need the answers to all of life’s questions
Just know that He loves her and stay by her side
Love her like Jesus
Love her like Jesus

In Him,

Dave K
