My deepest sympathies go out to all the families & friends of those who lost their lives in this very tragic event.  I have a friend who graduated from VT, worked there, had children graduate from there and I am sure that he is very distraught.  May God protect all of you.  I work at a university so this hit home pretty hard for me too.

My daughter is a student at VT, graduating this May. I have known the Hokies for 4 years now. What an amazing group of people I have met over these 4 years. On campus, on the streets, in the restaurants and bars. This really is a “Family”.

What a maelstrom of emotions these few days. I have cried at the horror and smiled at the strength. My deepest sympathy goes out to all.

I do want to say I support the University Administrations decisions that were made that day based on the information that presented itself as events unfolded. I would also add that the students made me so proud in the way they have acted and presented themselves in this aftermath.

Everyone has changed from this. I hope all can fully recover.

In loss of words to describe my deepest condolences. Can’t even imagine what the affected families are passing through. Very very sad and tragic situation. My heart goes out to everyone of you and you are all in my prayers. As a Lebanese-American myself escaping the civil war in Lebanon, probably like the Samaha family, losing their young daughter Reema makes a tragic situation even worse: escaping a war only to be shot in a classroom! TRAGIC. Praying for everybody. God bless you all.

If you knew where I were standing
If you could see the sights I see
If you could hear the angels singing
The songs they sing eternally
If you knew the One Im holding
Could see the smile He smiles at me
If you knew where I am resting
You would not cry for me

Im resting in the arms of Jesus
No other place would I rather be
So if you shed a tear
Please don’t shed it for me
For if you knew where I am resting
You would not cry for me.

Not since 9/11 have I felt such a mix of numbness, sorrow, and disgust for the perpetrator.  My thoughts are with the families and friends of those lost.

Never have I felt so proud to be a Hokie.  The community has pulled together, supporting each other.  Tales of heroism come to light.  Students risk their lives to hold the door shut against the killer.  A professor sacrifices himself to save his students.  Even as Hokie Nation grieves, we’re impressed and encouraged.

I was so shocked when I first heard of this tragedy. It’s just so awful that so many people had to become the victims of this devastating indicent. Not only those who had left, but also the friends and families who remain. I cannot immagine how painful and heart-breaking it would be for those who have lost their loved ones or for those who had actually been in the scene of tragedy. I know my words will be not much of a help. Yet, I send my deepest condolence. May god bless each and everyone you.

I have been sitting on my own college campus for the past two days, talking with other students sharing with friends. Everyone I’ve talked to, including myself are so utterly saddened by the pain, hurt, and anger your campus is experiencing.

As a college student I must empathize. We are all college students. Working towards similiar goals and in similiar ways. My heart goes out to all Hokies, and more importantly all college students. Many of whom are feeling this tragedy deeply and personally.

May you find peace in the middle of all the chaos and hope in the wake of tears. So much love.

Dear All,

My daughter wrote this poem after the 911 tragedy. I thought it might be appropiate at this time.
Do not Remember me in Sadness
Do not remember me in sadness.
Do not mourn your life away for mine.
Do not count my loss in the number of your tears,
Nor recount my years with sobs or sighs.
Do not remember me in sadness,
For that was not me:
Remember me in Joy!
Remember me in sunsets and sunrises.
Remember me in lives living still.
Remember me in smiles and laughter,
In successes, in triumphs think of me .
Remember me for the life I lived,
Not for the death I died.
Remember me for the way I laughed,
For things I said and did.
Mourn not for my last moments,
Rejoice in my life instead!
I do not say forget me,
But remember me in Joy!
For I am gone but from your eyes,
And that for a little while;
I live on in thoughts and memories
And lives yet unlived.
Do not remember me in sadness,
For sadness is but an earthly thing.
I know only now a heavenly life, so
Remember me in Joy!
Thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.

As a Hokie Alum, I am so disgusted, horrified and deeply saddened by the tragedy which happened at Virginia Tech.  My thoughts and prayers are with all fellow Hokies along with their family and friends as well as my old, small town of Blacksburg.  This is where I did spend a good 4.5 yrs of my life and I was so grateful for being in a small town where I would have never in a million years thought anything like this would or could ever happen.  I am still just in utter most shock and my heart, love and prayers go out to all families of victims!  I am continuously praying for all!  I love Virginia Tech and what it has been able to offer me.  I love being a Hokie and am extremely proud of my Hokie Spirit.  I am a Hokie and will always be one!  May God Bless you all!  Go Hokies!
