Condolences, April 18, 2007

Dear VT,
I can’t imagine the since of loss you are facing.  To lose someone is hard enough, but to the face of tragedy is almost unbearable.  Remember what the scriptures say That God will never give us more than we handle and HE WILL GET US THROUGH it.  Never forget the legacies and heroes of this event.  Pray, as you also are being prayed for.
As i read the comments, the WHOLE WORLD has come together for YOU.  WHAT A BLESSING THAT IS.

Nothing I say will take this all away, this is a nightmare everyone from every place in this world are enduring, but today every single one of us is a Hokie.

Profound sorrow...profound loss…

Things will never be the same, the world has changed for so many families.  The loss of lives, the loss of dreams, the loss of futures only imagined, now never a reality.

Another future will fill the lives of those left behind, but it will carry with it the memories of those who have not gone forward with us.  Even many years from now the memories of who should be with us will touch us gently every day, reminding us of what might have been while we live our lives as they are now.

We pray that God will be with all of the families who lost a loved one in this tragic event.  As graduates of Virginia Tech (01) and Radford (97), this situation really weighs heavy on my wife and I.  We have two young children and I cannot imagine going through what these parents are going through.  This is a sad time that will be remembered forever.

Long live Virginia Tech and Long live the Hokie Nation!!

Not being far removed from a college campus and still having people in my life attending college makes this a scary time for all. This is truly a tragic moment and times like this puts life in perspective for all. My heart goes out to all of the families and friends and the entire staff and student body at VT.  Time is not to forget, but is to heal....

Words can not express the sorrow felt by everyone around you after Monday’s tragedy.  An educational setting should be a place of freedom and higher learning not utter sorrow and fear.  It has been great to see the entire nation, especially the state of Virginia stand behind you and help to raise you back up.  This tragedy will only make you stronger and continue to bond the already tight Virginia Tech community.  South County Secondary School in Fairfax Virginia is showing Hokie pride on Friday by wearing orange and maroon along with ribbons.  We are behind you.

I would like to share my deepest symphathy to the families, students, and community for this horrible tragedy. Words alone cannot express how I feel about loosing some students and faculties in your university. I teach in a college in North Dakota, although we are up in the Turtle Mountains, the ripple effect of this tragedy has been felt all over the world. On behalf of my family in Venezuela and myself, I would like to be available for any support from here, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. One thing I cannot comprehend why someone does things like this, but one thing I am sure of is that we have a forgiving God who forgives and forgets, let’s embrace ourselves in love and harmony and remmeber those fallen individuals with the same love and respect they deserve, they forever will be in our hearts and minds. Time will never erase what has happened here,so never let the light of their love and their lives be extinguished, keep them in your thoughts, prayers and hearts. And please do not forget their families, they too need our support love and encouragement.
With love Tibi Marin, North Dakota/Venezuela

I was deeply saddened by the events of Monday, April 16, 2007. My thoughts and sympathies are with you all at this very difficult time. This is a senseless act that no one should have to face, but you are all facing it with strength and dignity with the eyes of the nation on you. I have many friends in college, so this hits home for me. The young man responsible for this may have killed your friends, but he cannot kill your spirits. You have made all of America proud to have you as the future of our country.

May peace fill your hearts, may God’s love cover each and everyone of you. And may God give you mercy, and bless you during this your darkest hour.

And the LORD said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

God has compassion for us he loves each and every one of you and his mercy will endure forever. I will pray each day that God will give you mercy when you need it and I will pray for peace when you are confused, and I will pray for, love for you when you are feeling unloved, and I will pay for mercy when your are angry and hurt. I pray that God will give you everything that you need when you need it.

Just remember that God loves you and so do I.

As a mother of two college aged daughters my heart broke when I heard the news of the tragedy at Virginia Tech.  My deepest sympathies go out to the families of those lost and injured.  There is nothing more tragic than lives cut short by senseless violence.  They say time heals all wounds and I hope this is true for the students, faculty and staff of VT and their families and surrounding communities.  Remember that you are not alone in your entire nation grieves with you.  God bless to all of you!

may the sun shine bright and cast warmth over your college, your life, your mourning.

life is testing and cruel. but its love and the care for others which make it possible to laugh in the face of such cruelty and bring us to a place of true contempt.

I hope the people that feel the pain the most can carry on, keep fighting and dont let evil drag you down.

i’m so sorry.

Why does it take a horrific tragedy like this to wake up our country and world. Please don’t blame or try to find blame with anyone. That won’t bring back anyone. What we all need to do is learn to love everyone. Parents, hug your kids today. Tell your brothers that you love them. Tell your neighbors to have a great day. Don’t miss one opportunity to add a little sunshine into a strangers day. It might be their only hope.
Today, we need to lift up all the parents, families, friends and aquaintances of all those who were lost. Stop and say a prayer for them. Let them know the whole world feels their pain of their loss. My heart aches for them. May God hold you all in his loving arms and give you comfort. B.Walters

I work for Radford University, VT’s nearby sister school.  We share our sibling rivalry from time to time, but I think I speak for all of Radford when I say we’re here for you.

Many of my friends have graduated from Tech or taken a few classes there, including myself.  I think a quote from CNN summarizes the sentiment of I’m sure more schools than just RU: “This is a tragedy in American history. So for today, forget any and all of your college affiliations. For today, we are all Hokies.”

VT, we are all Hokies right now and we are here for you.
