Originally from California, I’m a junior at Valdosta State University in Georgia. My husband and I are stationed here, as he is in the U.S. Air Force. We wanted to send our love, thoughts, and prayers to all of those who have lost friends, family, and loved ones at the recent tragedy. Being a student has changed for everyone, forever. All we can offer is our support and symapthy duing these sad times and I want everyone to know that we care deeply about what has occurred and will always keep you in our prayers. This tragedy was a reminder to make sure those around you know you love them, so we continue to share such deep love for our friends and I know you all do for yours.

Such a terrible day which should never have happened. My sincerest thoughts go out to the victims of this, and their friends and family.

This reminds me of Dunblane. Totally unnecessary, and such a waste of brilliant people/

My family and I offer prayers to all those that have been injured and lost due to this horrific tragedy.  Virginia Tech holds a special place in all of our hearts and minds.  My sister spent five years there and still knows many people out there.  This was a terrible incident and nobody should ever have to deal with the pain that this has caused.

The world is a sadder, colder place. So many gifted, loving, spirit-filled young souls needlessly and tragically taken away from us all. Our loving God, no doubt, will make sure that their new lives in heaven will be amazinging more wonderful with every second, until the wonderful day when you will all be able to hug and smile at each other once again.

I am a mother of a university student in Illinois. When I heard about the shooting my heart dropped. I felt the pain and sadness for the many parents who had lost their son or daughter because of one young adult who made the evil decision to take the lives of thirty-two people.

My condolences go out to each of the parents who lost their child.  My prayers and thoughts will be with each parent for a long time.  I pray that serenity will settle in each of the parents’ hearts soon.

To every Parent of a VT student:

I watched “The Tonight Show” last night to hear Tim Russert ("Meet the Press") say how, as the father of a son at Boston College, he shares the pain of every parent who lost a child in this tragedy.  This resonated with me and articulated what is in the hearts of thousands of families with a child away at college.  I, too, have a freshman child at college and also grieve for the VT families. We can only imagine the pain from their losses.  We must all remember to keep them in our thoughts and - above all - cherish each moment that we have with our loved ones.  Life is too often fleeting and it is so very precious.  Blessings to the Virginia Tech community. - Larry C.

From the bayous of Louisiana, my husband and I (who will always call Virginia home) want to share our empathy and condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims on 4/16.  May the compassion of others around you and around the world provide you comfort during this difficult time.  I hope that the survivors and witnesses find the inner strength to carry on and are able to seek and find the help that they need to grow from this incident.  As schools and universities across the country review their crisis plans and families prepare to send their children off to college, I pray that each of your hug your children just a little bit longer, but realize that unless you let go, much more than 33 lives will be lost.

Certainly gun laws must be strengthened. Mental health awareness, must be expanded. There must be more ways that teachers and administrators can require someone to get evaluated and monitored for the safety of themselves and others.

As I was on my way to class for Vermont Technical College on Tuesday, I was awarded the honor of listening to the convocation live from a Fox News Satellite Radio feed. Being a father of a beautiful 3-year-old daughter as well as a student I found myself deeply empathetic with all of you and the family members.

Although the lost friends, family, teachers, and mentors can never be replaced their memories will live on as long as you let them. Embrace life for it is fleeting, and know that evil acts such as this, although ever present, do not hold power over goodness and love.

My family and I wish you all the best in this horrible time, our prayers hold you softly in their wings, and our thoughts are with you.
