As an alumni of Virginia Tech it is difficult to put into words how this tragedy makes you feel.  It is awesome to see how the hokies have pulled together to get through this difficult time.  I have been and always will be proud to be a part of the hokie family.  My thoughts and prayers are with all the students and families who were affected by this terrible event.

Hello To All,

I am a sophmore at CB South High School. I feel all of your pain, suffering, and worrying, I have a friend that goes to VT. As the story keeps being updated I watch and all I can think is, “why this week? why now? why VT? why here?”. I sit in my Titan Forum, or Homeroom as you like to call it, and watch MSNBC. Massacre is too strong of a word in my eyes. All though I do have to say I have no idea what to call this horrifying tradgedy. I send all of you all my love, prayers, and condolences. I feel for you.

To the seniors just about to graduate, keep your head up high and never give up.

My Love To All,
Christina Riotto
Hopefully a soon Virginia Tech Grad

Three of our four family members are Hokies.  While this is not that unique in the Hokie Nation, it means this meanless disaster has affected us deeply.  We know that we cannot answer why but must decide how we will answer what.  What do we do from here to make the world a better place.

Yesterday I drove from Northern Virginia to Blacksburg for the candlelight ceremony.  While I could not have been any sadder, I also could not have been any prouder of all in our family.  Let’s go make that difference in the world and not be paralyzed by the grief and anger we feel.

To The Hokie World,

One thing I have noticed with all of the Tech students that have been interviewed on TV is how well spoken and poised they are. It reflects the quality of the institution. I was a young Hokie many years ago and I am very proud to be a part of the VT family. Especially to be represented by such fine examples as the young people of today. The cadets in particular present an image of class and style that cannot be matched. Most of the whole world shares in our sorrow.

To all: mothers fathers brothers sisters children and grandchildren and friends

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all who have lost a loved one during this horrific episode. To lose a child and friend during youth is great but to lose someone to violence is the greatest loss of all.  The German instructor was the sme age as my daughter who teaches in the inner city, the holocaust survivor who died saving his students, and the RA who came to the aid of a student all the stories of people who were there to make this world a better place during a time of promise and hope were taken away in a senseless manner.  You and your families and friends are in my prayers. May God go with you.

Weather we attend(ed) Tech or not, We have all became Hokies. As a Salem native and a frequent visitor of the Hokie sporting events, I knew that the area was close, but once again, tragedy brings a feeling of being United. I am so proud of the people from all across the world for being able to put racial, religious, political, and sexual differences behind to allow us to be united as one! As a convocation speaker put it best yesterday, “We are Hokies, and We are united as one!” It is crazy how people have, just like 9/11, came together! I am so proud of ALL of my fellow Hokies!!

A morning Monday
April’s fortnight and two
A century’s nor’easter
Through hear did blew

O’er mist covered mountains
Through Spring’s flowers anew
Snowflakes falling
Upon Virginia’s fields of youth

Portending a visit
Unwanted, hurtful Hell
Pleading Heaven’s arrival
Needing Him to spare all a spell

With unimagined horror
Innocence departs here today
Its unsated void wanting plenty sorrow
And afore noon they say

Lost ‘n way gone
Ne’er again th’ same
Seeking end, dear God
This pain

Questions without answers
Old and new doth ask
A world’s best and brightest
Teacher, friend, lad ‘n lass

Blowing still
A cold wind
This…, with God’s love
This, too, shall pass.

My heart is saddened by the senseless act of hate that occurred at your campus.  My prayers are with all the students, their families and friends, the faculty and staff of VT and all the officers and emergency personel that were involved.

As a student at an engineering school in Wisconsin, I cannot imagine the horror each student faced on April 16th.  Knowing that one of your own was capable of causing so much fear and destruction.  I wish all of you the strength to continue with your lives and not allow the monster in your fellow classmate to have control over the rest of your life.  Don’t give up your dreams.  Take one day at a time, gain strength from your memories and show the “evils” that they may postpone your happiness but they can not take it away forever.

As a mother, I am horrified that our sons and daughters can carry so much anger, sadness and hurt inside themselves which would cause them to lose all sense of honor and respect.  A plead to every mother, father, sister, brother and best friend; openly talk with your loved ones, share your deepest concerns, fears, and worries; we all have them, tell them you love them and hug them as often as you can.

As a nation, we will, one day, recover but we will never forget.

My heart is broken as I continue to watch with the rest of the world the horrific unimaginable events of Monday and their aftermath. As an aunt with three young men in college, I see their faces in yours; I weep for you and I weep for your fellow students and teachers and the lives that were ‘supposed to be’. Please know that your amazing courage has inspired me and others who you will never know. Be proud of that. Your friends will always be with you in your hearts...and years from now, when you least expect it, you will know that they are still with angels who will never leave you. I pray for you and the souls ‘gone too soon’. God bless you all.

My heart is so heavy as I write these few words.
On a day that My family and I were celebrating my son’s 6th birthday, the tragic news came upon us, and a feeling of sadness, agony, and despair saturated our hearts. My son asked me “why would that man kill all these kids, was he mad at all of them??” I didn’t have much to expalin to this innocent inquisitive mind of a -just turned- 6 year old boy, all I managed to say that some times evil can take over someone’s soul and create such tragedy. My condolences and prayers to the family of the victims and may their souls be an angelic reminder to all of us that no matter what, evil will never be victorious.
God bless you all and bless our country.

You have a LOT of support from the Japanese people here watching the clips on t.v. My family and I would like to share our condolences and heavy prayers to all at Virginia Tech University.
