Virginia Tech community -
Our prayers are with you all. As Kent State alumni, we remember all too well the horror of the killing of innocent students at a place you would expect them to be safe.

Your chants of “Lets Go Hokies” heard on news coverage of this tragedy show the world your deep and admirable dedication to your School and community - and that your healing has already begun.

While words provide little solace from such tragc circumtances, my most heartfelt condolences for all the victims, their families, friends, staff and fellow students of Virginia Tech.  Living at a residential college in Sydney (Australia), I understand the special bond that exists between fellow residents, and of course between class mates.

Tonight at our College formal dinner we observed one minute silence for all the vicitims of Monday’s tragic events.  May you all find condolence that the world is thinking of you.

Our hearts and prayers go out to all the victims, students, the new river valley community, and VT family. It is so unfair that someone could take so many lives, but just rest at ease because we all know they are in a better place now that this twisted world we live in. Stay strong and stand behind your school and remember that a boy did this horrible thing not a school.

I live in Fort Worth, Texas, and have seven children and seventeen grandchildren but I cannot fathom the grief that has fallen on all of you especially the victims of this horrible incident. This unfolded the same as the tragedies in Oklahoma City, Columbine, Fort Worth, and other places where the innocent lives were taken from us before they should have been.

My wife and I want to extend our sympathy to all of the Virginia Tech students and professors and our prayers of healing go out to the parents, friends, all relatives of those who have been taken from our lives and given to GOD. He will comfort us all and hopefully in due time we will see the positives from this senseless act. GOD Speed to all of the members of the Virginia Tech community.

Let’s Go Hokies will never be the same.  It now means so much more.  Other than being at home with my wife and children, there is no place I’d rather be than at Virginia Tech.  I cannot begin to comprehend how this has affected those who lost children in the tragedy, as I did not, yet I am so deply and profoundly affected.  I am so proud of the students.

I live in a town with a college and although at times it feels like we are two separate towns, we are all one.  My heart aches for the the entire campus, the townspeople, the students who lost their lives, the parents of all students and for our country.  It is beyond my comprehension how one person feels that they have the right to destroy so many lives.  However, after watching all the coverage this week, I see how strong VT and the community is.  We will not forget your courage and will not let this one moment define you.  May God Bless you all.  The Terry Family
