Condolences, April 18, 2007

This has saddened many hearts.
It has torn apart many minds.
This is a tragedy that will never go unacknowledged.
You all are in my prayers, my thoughts, my heart.
I pray that you never forget the tragedy, remember those who lost their lives. Remember, they were young, they were not done… not done living, not done learning, teaching, or loving. Now you, have to live for them. They aren’t GONE, they live on in all the hearts of their friends, loved ones, and even strangers like me.
Please, just for some sort of a healing procedure, pass on a smile, cause it just might help. It will not make all the pain go away, but it will help whether it is just for that moment, that a person can smile.
And please, I know you can’t forget what Cho did, but you can forgive him, in your heart. We all have the power to forgive, just like God forgives us.

Attn Larry Hincker:

Would you care to review your comments of last August concerning Bradford Wiles?

Perahps it wouldn’t be so “mind-boggling” after all to have a few concealed weapons license holders on campus after all?
Rather than just victims?

As a Hokie alum it has been a rough couple of days being a few hours away and only being able to follow whats going on through the news.  I spent 4 incredible years in Blacksburg and I have one image of the school in my head and to see it ripped apart by a mad man has been heart breaking.  My heart goes out to all those families who have suffered a loss and to the entire Virginia Tech family.  We, Hokie Nation, are the proudest group I have ever been apart and I know we will survive, overcome, and prevail.

I just want to say that my thoughts and prayers are with all of the families and friends of the victims.  I have sat here for the last two days trying to grasp what has happened.  My heart has been broken for the people who were taken from us prematurely.  My heart is broken for the families who have to try to figure out a way to continue on without their loved one. I can’t imagine what everyone is going through here and what the VT family is going through.  Please know you will have my continued thoughts and prayers.  May God be with you all.

From the bottom of our broken hearts my faimly would like to say:
Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast,
it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.

When something like this happens, everyone would like to be quick to place the blame on someone. In this case, it is so much better for us to focus on those of you who have lost loved ones. To the outsiders, the victims may just be students at VT, but to you, they were your children, your husband, your mother, your wife, brothers and sisters. To all of you and your families, I am keeping you in my prayers. If nothing else, this should just show everyone how unpredictable life is and make us realize how precious everyone around us is.

There are not enough words in the vocabulary to express the sadness we feel in our hearts. To all the students, faculty, staff, students and members of the VT and the Blacksburg community I shed every tear with you and my heart aches as yours do. But as Ms. Giovanni said “We will prevail”. We may never know why, but we do know that GOD has a reason for everything. Peace be with you all and GOD BLESS.

May we all remember those who were killed in this horrible and tragic way. And, may we remember that there is justice, and that there is an almighty God who will prevail; to give peace and understanding. May we give forgiveness when forgiveness can be given. And, may we look to a friend or family member and say “Hey, I am sorry and I love you!” Because, no matter what life is too short to be angry and to hold grudges. Let’s live life without anger. Let’s be loving, and we will all get along better, longer, and easier. If you believe in this pass this on too all that you care about; even to the ones who sent it to you. God Bless you all!

My heart breaks with yours, though we will likely never meet.  My heart breaks for all those innocent and bright lives lost, those injured and for their families—for each and every one of you.

I stopped my studies over the past couple of days because, though we will never meet, I felt the need to be present to you.  We are sisters, brothers all and I am moved to say, I love each and every one of you.

Peace to you,

Peace to all.
The VT family is in our prayers---asking for His grace and comfort to be clear for all those grieving and coping with this tragedy.

Psalm 46:1 ‘God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.’

Psalm 116:15 “precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his saints.”

Our thoughts are with you all,

Below is a poem I came across perhaps it will be of some meaning during this terrible time.

Darragh, Dublin, Ireland

You can shed tears that they are gone

Or you can smile because they have lived

You can close your eyes and pray that they will come back

Or you can open your eyes and see all that they have left

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see them

Or you can be full of the love that you shared

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday

Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday

You can remember them and only that they are gone

Or you can cherish their memory and let it live on

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back

Or you can do what they would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

After visiting many of my friends at VT during my college days, I learned that it is truly a campus full of good-hearted people filled with Hokie spirit.  May God Bless every single person in the community and bring you through this horrific tragedy.  May every family find comfort in the Lord and be able to go on in memory of their lost loved one.  May all my friends at VT continue being a Hokie Nation.

God Bless,

Like everybody else, I don’t understand any of this.  There are no words adequate enough to express the feelings we all feel for you… first for the families of the students taken so tragically, and then for the rest of the students, faculty and everyone who has been affected by this terrible loss.  All I can offer is my my prayers and heartfelt love to each of you.  May God keep you in his tender care as you strive to put your lives back together again. My you feel loved and supported within your community.

My thoughts and prayers are with all the families and friends of the victims of this awful incidence.  My brother is a VA Tech alum and I have a very special love for this school even though I did not attend.  My 8 year old son LOVES VA Tech and has his Tech blanket, football and trash can in his room.  He hopes to attend the school in the future.

The Hokies are strong and will bounce back from this, the spirit of the school is resilient and it is good to see this spirit and closeness during this tragic time.

Hang in there Hokies, you all are wonderful.  I am so sorry for all the families who are suffering now, I will keep praying for you.
