Condolences, April 18, 2007

To our VT family,
Our sadness is overwhelming at the thought of this senseless tragedy.  As Hokies, we are so proud of VT and the community.  As parents, we are so blessed to be able to hug our son as he comes home today as we pray for all of the families who suffer the loss of their children and parents.  We are thinking of you and hold you deep in our hearts.

I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow that parents and the whole Virginia Tech Family must be going through right now, but know that the world shares your pain right now.  I extend my love and deep sincerity to those who lost loved ones on this tragic event.

I cannot begin to fathom how families must feel.  My daughter is a graduate of VT and is reeling from this.  We too.  Our thoughts are with not only families who have lost a child, husband and father, but to all those at VT that will live with this pain.

As a Duke fan I have never loved Virginia Tech but with the events that have occured in the past few days ia am shocked at why a person would murder 32 great professors and students.  I have a neighbor that was in a class at VT during the shooting and he said it was “Hell on Earth” and that he was home, safe.  He and this nation as of now fell a sense of power, and that power is Hokie power.  My sorrow to the 32 brave souls who died, our prayers are with you and your families.

There has been so many unexplainable tradgedies that have occured in this world that have no rhyme or reason behind them. But in the event of these tradgedies, the best force to fight back with is not that of an equal manner in which the tradgedy occured, but with strength.
Stay Strong VT friends and family, you’re in my heart <3

My thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of everyone affected by this tragedy.

May all beings have happiness
And the causes of happiness
May all be free from sorrow
And the causes of sorrow
May all never be separated from the sacred happiness
That is sorrow-less
May all leave attachments to dear ones and aversion to others
And live believing in the equalness of all that lives.

Lamento profundamente lo ocurrido y la pena que sienten en estos días, no existen palabras que pueda consolarles, solo el sentimiento de compartir en cierto grado el dolor de la pérdida de tantas vidas, en una forma que no tiene sentido.

I work at a small private college in St. Augustine, FL. There are no sufficient words to express my true feelings of sympathy for your losses. I have heard it said and I agree that everyone who has heard about this tragedy feels the true Hokie Spirit that all of you have shown as you live on day by day and cope as best you can. I have do doubt that in that Spirit- the Virginia Tech Community will persevere in the best way possible. May the Spirit of Peace that comes from the Love of God the Father settle over you all in a Profound and Healing Way.

In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity. ~Einstein
At this moment I honestly am not sure what opportunities could come from something so horrible. I think back to all of the times I have walked across that drill field feeling totally safe. I hope and pray that my daughter will one day be able to show Hokie spirit just as I have, feeling just as safe. Wishing strength and love to all impacted. S.K.F.

To the entire Virginia Tech community, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.  I had the priviledge to participate in a recent workshop with a staff member from VT and I have been working with that individual to set up another workshop at VT.  This incident will not change my opinion of VT nor will it change my efforts for conducting another workshop.  VT is a wonderful school that has been struck by an unthinkable tragedy.  However, I know that VT and the community will survive!!!  My Grandmother taught me that “if God brings you to it, He will bring you through it!” and I believe this is so true at VT.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and I am here for everyone of you.  I wish there was more that I could do!  I ache for each and everyone of you.  May God bless you and keep you so that you can survive this tragedy.

Dearest Friends -
My company employees 33 engineering graduates, including myself.  My wife and I met on the first day at AJ.  She and I have shared many a tear-soaked hug the past couple of days.  What pulls us out of our feeling of pain for you is knowing that there isn’t a safer place on earth nor a closer nit community than that offered at VT.  I’m watching from afar with admiration and pride the character of the students individually and as a school community in the face of the media attention.  Stay strong...we are behind you.  And we all are VT…
