I am so sorry for this terribe tragedy that has touched your lives. I was so moved to tears last night and I learned about the personalities and future goals of these young lives, and their wonderful teachers. God bless you all.

I wrote this poem because I had to express my deep sorrow. I hope you like it.

The horror of yesterday is another day of life,
A day filled with pain and strife.

I watched the broadcasts on TV,
And wondered like everyone, “How could this be?”

I questioned my God, why couldn’t He stop,
The madness from a man who planned this plot.

I prayed for the families and friends who are shaken,
and for the souls of the ones who were taken.

I felt ashamed because I did not weep,
but tonight the sorrow and pain doth creep.

How do we go on from here?
Is there one day that we can live without fear?

I know it will take one day at a time,
To gain strength and to feel the sun shine.

We must continue to love and forgive,
For that’s the way God wants us to live.

I am deeply sorry to hear of this tragedy. I know what it is like to lose someone close to me. I lost my mom to cancer about a year ago. Please know that you are in my prayers continually and that the God of all comfort will encourage you in your time of need.

To every family affected by this great lost, the world is praying for you. Romans 15:13 reads, Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye my abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. As a student myself, I pray that God continues to cover every student and every teacher so that the education will continue.

For every raindrop that fell all over the world on 4/17/07, I wonder… was it God who was crying knowing what would occur on that day?  My heart and prayers to all… God bless you.

As a native Virginian, from Hampton, I feel a very strong connection with the Tech community, both present and past.  I can’t pretend to know how deeply this tragedy is affecting everyone who is experiencing it first-hand, but my heart goes out to all of you.  I pray that some day soon, these trying times will be behind us.

I am sorry to hear of your losses, in sports, I’ve cheered your wins.
I pray for all your families, and all those you called friends.
Our nation now mourns with you, we’re saddened by your cries. May God hold you, may He comfort you and wipe those tear drops from your eyes.
As a country, we are united, and we all feel the pain. You’re Virginia Tech, a legacy, the Hokies will remain.
I live in West Virginia, and you are our close neighbor, on bended knees you’ll stand again, your faith it will not waiver.
A soft and gentle whisper, be silent, and you will hear it. God is calling out to you, “Don’t forget your Hokie spirit.  Donald D. Smith

VT alumni, faculty and staff have made many international friends over the years with the Study Abroad Program.  As an international student who studied abroad at VT, a part of my heart abids with VT and all associated with VT.  No words can express the sorrow I feel for those directly and indirectly affected by the terrible events of 16 March.

VT is blessed and posesses a god-given resolve that shaped and continues to shape hokie character and psychie which will rise above these events as surely as the sun rises over the drill field.  May you all live out your lives in peace, love and harmony.

Words seem redundant right now - my thoughts and prayers with all the families and friends of those so heinously lost. Grief also for the lost future and contributions by such great minds - the world has been cruelly and senselessly deprived. Lizzie Meadows

I am the mother of a freshman Penn State student who worries everyday about my daughter and can only ask God to keep her safe in everything she does.  This is the worst nightmare that any parent can imagine.  Listening to your vibrant student body talk and seeing their compassionate and brave actions over the last few days confirms my faith in the human spirit. You will carry this with you always, but it will not define you- your strength and fortitude as you live your life from this day forward will be your legacy and the legacy of those that are no longer with you.  God will keep them safe always and they will know you will never forget them.

My thoughts and prayers are with your community at this time. As a Boston College fan, I have rooted against your school at sporting events. I am now rooting for all of you to find solace and healing in this most difficult time. You have so much to be proud of, as evidenced by the strength demonstrated by the students, faculty, and staff. I watched, with tears in my eyes, the pain in the eyes of all at the emotional convocation ceremony yesterday. I sat in awe, watching the composure shown by those present in the classrooms during the rampage, when interviewed by the media. As a parent, my heart ached for those waiting to hear word on their loved ones. I felt tremendous sorrow for the students, the same ages as my own children, whose young lives will forever be touched by the tragedy. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. May you find the strength to carry on. You ARE the HOKIES! God bless!

To my fellow Hokies,

I am deeply saddened by what happened on Monday, but I want you to know that you are thought about daily by many across the country. This did not just affect those in Blacksburg, it affected people all over the world. My friends, family and I are praying for all of you, to have the strength and courage you need to be able to put this behind you and press on despite this tragedy. I am so proud to be a Hokie and now is the time to show people everywhere that we are a strong and united family.

As a Virginia Tech Alum, I was shocked to hear the news as this tragedy unfolded.  My heart goes out to the families and friends that lost loved ones and for the university that has lost its sense of security.  As Hokies, this tragic event will only allow the community we share to grow stronger.  Hopefully we have all learned lessons from the mistakes that were made that day.  May we continue to stand strong and may the healing begin.
