My family lives in McKean, PA, the General McLane school district, where several years ago, an 8th grade student entered the year end dinner dance for students who would be entering the high school the next fall and opened fire - killing an educator and injuring several students. Please know that there is an ENTIRE COMMUNITY in Northwest PA that shares your profound sorrow, knows as perhaps few others can what you are feeling and prays for you.

As a 1995 graduate of Virginia Tech, I am full of heartache and sadness of the events that took place on April 16.  I remember my years at Tech fondly and they were some of the best years of my life.  I forged friendships that continue to this day.  I pray for all of those at Tech and affected by this horrific event.  Even though I am not there, my thoughts and prayers are with all Hokies.  Please know that all Hokies, past and present and mourning with you and will continue to support the University and its students.

My son is a Tech alumni, Class of 2003. We will always remember our trips to the glorious campus of VA Tech, the fun times and shared experiences between students and parents when we attended football games, and the unique camaraderie of the Tech community. May the souls of those lost rest in peace and may the students, their families, alumni, faculty, staff and the town of Blacksburg be granted peace, energy, and courage as they travel the difficult road to recovery. The warmth and glow of the sun will shine again upon the magnificent institution of VA Tech.

To all you dear heat Hookies,

While most people look for a rational answer to a very irrational act the thought my come to you of guilt, “what could I have done to prevent this event”.  Don’t go there for there is no answer of any substance to be found.  Wither they are your friends or students your job is to live your life to your highest sense of what is right and they will live forever.

Dear Students, Families and Faculty/Staff of VT,

As the parents of 2 freshman at the University of North Alabama, we can’t imagine the pain you all must be going through.  May God bless you all and help you through this very difficult time.  Though the pain must be unbearable, remember your loved ones have been called home and are in a better place.  You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self. Therefore, trust the physician and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility.

As we wait for the last days when The Lord shall dispense His righteous judgement, let us all find our own measure of peace and serenity in the coming days. Time heals all wounds, but may we all proudly bare the scar of this tragedy such that we may never forget those who died long before their time had come.

May the Grace and Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of the friends and families of this senseless tragedy.

With my most heartfelt sincerity,

To those who have lost their loved ones, we are praying for you.  I cannot comprehend the pain you must be feeling at this time.
My husband and I are graduates of Virginia Tech (2001 & 2002).  We love our school.  To us, it seems that our home and family has been attacked.  I have been very moved by the students who profess love for our University and are determined to stay in the face of this tragedy.  One day does not make Virginia Tech - WE make Virginia Tech; and it is, and will remain a wonderful place to be!
