To the family, friends and community of Virginia Tech,

My heart goes out to you all in this awful time. You are all in my thoughts and in my prayers, I admire the unity and strength you are showing to the world during this time.

Remember you have each other to lean on, but also remember that you have the world who also have shoulders to lean on.

Nobody should be alone in their grief, and you are most definately not alone.

I am saddened by what has happened, and shocked at the thought of it happening in such a safe place. But i wanted to tell you to be strong, and that together, we will overcome our grief. All the students at my school have been talking about what has happened and we wanted you to know that we’re with you (families and victims) and that our thoughts and prayers for you are never ending.

I am deeply saddned by the horrendous act commited by Cho Seung-Hui. Our thoughts and our prayers are with the families of those who passed away and the VT community. Hope you find the inner strength to get through these days of immense grief.

When someone we love passes away,
We ache, but we go on;
Our dear departed would want us to heal,
After they are gone.

Grief is a normal way to mend
The anguish and pain in our hearts;
We need time to remember and time to mourn,
Before the recovery starts.

Let’s draw together to recuperate,
As we go throught this period of sorrow;
Let’s help each other, with tender care
To find a brighter tomorrow

It saddens me so to see the school that I love so much associated with such terror. The faces and thoughts of those who perished and the national and worldwide support, is riveting. I never realized how much a part of me this place was until now. I feel the sorrow of all of those in the Hokie Nation/ World ripping at my heart. I am a changed man.

I was so saddened to hear of the death of Jocelyn Couture-Nowak whom I knew casually while living in Truro, Nova Scotia. I will remember her fondly and as a friendly, caring and enthusiastic individual. I would best describe Jocelyn as “a ray of sunshine”. I extend my sincere condolences to her family and the staff and students at Virginia Tech and the Nova Scotia Agricultural College.

I am crying as I type this. I have a son aged 21 with mental illness and a son of 18 with autism but that is nothing compared to the heartbreak these poor students families must feel. I hope they are now in a better place looking down on us. I also feel sorry for the gunmans family they probably feel even more grief knowing their son was a killer.

Something died inside all of us today.
Hokies of past and present…
the eyes of our future rimmed with tears.
Now more than ever do we need to stand as one.
Ut Prosim - that I may serve.
Help one another.
Show what Hokie pride, courage, and heart are really capable of.
Stand for our school.
Pull up friends and loved ones.
Kneel for those gone.
Pray for all of us.

"Live by faith, choose to be happy”, quote from Joel Osteen (preacher Lakewood Church, Houston, TX). I say this to myself each morning after kissing my 6 year old daughter and husband of 13 years as I rush out the door to work. I cannot comprehend the magnitude of sorrow that the family, friends, and VT faculty and students must be feeling at this time. I can only cry for strangers, feeling as if my loss is just as deep. Take comfort in knowing that the nation realizes the brillance of these students and some how, some way, a legacy will live on for each of those lost. I was drawn to this memorial of condolences listed by many from our own country and across the world. I am in awe of God’s grace, in a time of war and tradegy in other region’s...we can all be drawn together as ONE NATION under GOD. We cannot predict our day s we step off of our porch and into our cars, we can only “choose to be happy” and have “faith” that our lord will bring us home safely at the end of the day. Hold your loved ones dear, and take solace in knowing that we are happy to have known your children, parents, loved ones and friends...and we are blessed for the legacy that they will be leaving behind for the children of the future!

To all students, staff & families of Virginia Tech,
Our thoughts are with you during this very sad time. May you find comfort in knowing that the world is mourning with you. As a suggestion perhaps your state should seriously consider the gun laws and the ramifications they can cause.

A Better Place

Cry for me no more
the many tears of sadness
My time in this world was over
and it came for me to pass.
Bring the photos of old time
and see them not with tear-filled eyes
But with eyes of joy and laughter
and smile once more with me.

Know that I am in a better place
one without disease
without hatred and without death
This kingdom I now call home

I wait here for you
When your time comes to pass
to ease the transition
from the old to the new.

Cry for me no more.
Remember only the laughter.
For I am in another realm
And I wait to see you again.
