Condolences, April 18, 2007

To The Virginia Tech Community,
We here in New Zealand are following this tragedy on Fox news; and send our deepest and heartfelt sympathies to you and to the families, friends and faculty of those who needlessly were taken away from our world.
Please know that there are so many people worldwide who have you all in their prayers.  We offer prayers too to the family of the person who did this, as this will be very hard on them also.  Tonight your friends, family sleep with the angels.

Everyone at VT are my new HEROES.  We thank GOD for all who are safe, and Pray for all of you.  I know this is a wonderful Univ. and I’m VERY UPSET at the way the PRESS has handled this situation.  The PRESS is TERRIBLE.  They sensationalize and come up with the most stupid questions and their own thoughts, you wonder “ What are they Thinkin” it’s obvious that they are not.

I’m VERY PROUD to be a VT Grandma.

My heart goes out especially to the faculty, staff and students of the ESM department as I know Norris Hall is their home base, which will never be the same again.

Such a sad tragety in this what seems to be a nice campus. The nation is pulling for you. God will work through this.  He’s worked through other schools’ trageties, such as Columbine and the Bluffton baseball bus crash.  God will work wonders in your school now.  I’m praying for the community and those injured, who lost loved ones, and for those killed.  4-16 will always be rememebered.

To the students, friends and family of the Virginia Tech community we wish you all the very best as you work through the aftermath of this so very tragic event.

To some of my ex-students, now friends, whom I taught just a few short years ago, I can only say that my family and I are thinking of you at this time.  We sincerely hope that these events do not take away from you the love of life, the warmth, and the dreams that you have seen fit to share with us.

Take care all.

In watching the bravery, integrity and spirit of the students and faculty of Va Tech and indeed everyone involved in this tragedy, I have never been more proud to be a Southwest Virginian.  The cries of “Let’s Go Hokies” gives my heart wings through it’s tears.

In trying to understand why, there will be many questions and finger pointing and accusations.  I just ask that each of us remember that we were not the ones making the decisions, we were not there; whatever information was available was not presented to us for evaluation, and we cannot possibly know what “we would have done” at that moment.

Finally, I’m reminded of a quote I read some years ago and have carried with me.
~It’s all right - quesions, pain, stabbing anger can be poured out to the Infinte One ... Our wounded ragings will be lost in Him and we will be found.  For we beat on His chest from the circle of His arms. ~ Susan Lenzkes

May peace find your hearts.

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this horrific time. No one can fathom the pain you face today as students, friends, faculty and parents.

I am so sorry that you have seen the worst side of human nature at this time of your life in this beautiful place. I know that the VT Hokie Spirit will be a blanket that wraps itself around all of you. For it is that part of human nature that will help you heal so you can be a beacon for those that are no longer with us.

I am proud to be the parent of a Hokie Alumni. Bless the entire VT Community.

Dear Families, Colleagues and Friends,

My husband and I write to express our sadness that the sanctity of an institution of higher learning, growth and wisdom has been so terribly violated by senseless violence against those innocent students and professors who should, at the very least, have been safe and free to pursue their dreams.

Please accept our very best wishes to all of you.

I would like to send my condolences to all of the students, faculty and families that were hurt by this tragedy.  No one should ever have to think about something like this, when they are only on campus to learn and live.

I did not go to VT, but I am a graduate of George Mason.

We are all Hokies during this time of sorrow.

I cannot express my sadness and anger about this tragedy. Being a student in Germany, i.e. being so far away and not knowing anyone of the students of VT, I still feel close to all of you. We have in common that we want to study peacefully, we have in common that we want to celebrate life, we have in common that we want to make something out of our lives. It brougth tears to my eyes thinking that some young innocent lives ended too soon in such a terrific way. My prayers for the victims and their family members and for each and everyone of the students and staff members will always accompany you.

Although we don’t know each other, let’s join hands in our prayers, for the innocent dearest ones, for their families, for everyone suffering from this shock, and for the confidence, not to give up hope for a better world. Weak words in such a situation, but still: don’t give up!

May God bless you and give the most of comfort to you!

God Bless!

I am a Blacksburg teacher, resident and Virginia Tech Graduate student.  My thoughts and prayers are with the families dealing with their losses, and those healing both physically and emotionally.  As Nikki Gionanni stated, “We will prevail!  We are Virginia Tech!” Her words inspired me.  I hope they help us see that this tragedy was a senseless, horrific act, but has shown us our strength and committment to each other.  We will prevail!  We are Virginia Tech!

To the Samaha Family and all the victims,

As I watched the picture of your lovely daughter come on the screen I was so taken with how she could have been my own daughter who is 18 and of Lebanese descent. She will be at Ga Tech in the fall. Her sister also attends Ga Tech. Reema’s light shines from her pictures. I can not find the words to express my sorrow for you and all the family’s of this mindless tragedy. I keep seeing Reema’s beautiful smile. The world has suffered from the lose of such a bright star of the future. With all my sympathy, prayers and love. Kristen Salome, Atlanta Ga.
