Heartfelt sympathy and condolances from the UK.  No-one deserves to have their life taken away by another, and no words can comfort you in your grief.  To the parents that have lost their child, no-one else can know the pain of loss of your precious son or daughter.

But know that throughout the nations of the world, many stand with you, are praying for you, and send their love.  Keep strong and support one another.  Keep each other close.  Keep the memories of your friends, colleagues, sons and daughters alive, and find comfort in the love and support you recieve from those you know, and from those far away who are shocked and saddened by these tragic events.

I would like to send my condolences to all the victims of the shootings and to their families and friends. University students are the future of society, killing them means killing the future of mankind. And if no one went to school with a gun in their bag, these horrible things would never happen. So I say NO to weapons, YES to life. Lots of love from Spain

Your pain is felt all over the world, even over here in Flagstaff Arizona. Please know that all the victims and their families will be in our thoughts and prayers for a long time to come. May you find comfort in one another to help you through this tragic time.

How can anyone who hasn’t themselves been affected by what amounts to a massacre so close to home really understand the feelings of Virginia Tech today?

I won’t pretend that I can relate fully, in fact I’m not afraid to say that I’m grateful that I can’t. But I do feel for you all very strongly and my heart goes out to you.

Although everyone who has been effected by these tragic deaths has paused to mourn and wrestle with their disbelief, I am confident that the spirit of hope and of renewed purpose will return in time.

Of course respects to the dead must be paid and compassion and understanding to their friends and relatives, yet also show yourselves and everyone else that although your are all hurt so badly you cannot be beaten by such insanity.

Good luck to all Virginia Tech students with your studies and I hope you manage in time to appreciate and enjoy once more what should be one of the richest periods of your lives - being VT Hokies.

Our thoughts are with you from across the Atlantic.

It is very sad that this has happened.  Unfortunately, this will continue to happen because nerds like Cho feel so isolated.  He tried to talked to some girl and she calls the police on him.  Very sad.  He must have felt like an alien.  Why are we humans so cruel?

April 18, 2007, 5:53am • tijuana, mexico • #7501

At a time when so much good will and heartfelt compassion goes out to everyone at Virginia Tech, I want my own to touch the President, the campus police, and everyone involved in the initial response.  These people are so obviously kind, so deeply caring about the students, faculty and staff in their charge that it is obvious they responded in a way they thought at the time was completely appropriate.  While hindsight makes everyone’s vision abundantly clear, none of us can know just how much that first shooting must have affected them.  The subsequent events were beyond anyone’s imagining or prediction, and they had to deal with it while already in a state of profound shock and bewilderment.  And throughout it all, in an overpowering media spotlight, they have to act as composed and responsible leaders.  They are remarkable human beings, and are a very public representation of all the qualities that make Virginia Tech the outstanding school it apparently is.

Everyone’s thoughts and prayers are with you.

April 18, 2007, 5:54am • The netherlands • #7513

My family and I were totally shocked at this bloody massacre. We never at all expected such an incident to strike and harm an innocent population which was on the sacred path of studying and harvesting knowledge. Also to be deprived of the warmth of brotherhood and parenthood is back breaking and devastating. I totally understand. As a devout catholic and firm believer in our Lord Jesus I’m sure the innocent victims are embracing every single moment of peace and mercy in the spacious glorious Heavens. I will always pray and I’m sure that our merciful Lord will console the hearts of the grieving families in his own gracious and warm way. According to our faith, when a person departs this mortal world, there is much sadness in our hearts. He/she is no longer with us in the flesh. However what is consoling and calming is the fact that the departed are embraced by the grace of our Lord in his heavens and are privileged with eternal comfort with Him. May our Lord have mercy on all of us.

In sorrow do we wail,
yet while the world seems crashing down
let us rise up together
let us overcome
that hatred and bigotry
that intolerance and rage
and all those other barriers
that we might know peace
and peace might be all our children know.

This is of course a terrible tragedy.  It is a moment in history which is tragic as well as saddening.  May God bless you guys and guide you through this.

My thoughts are with the family’s of those killed in this horrific event and also with those students at the university who have been put through hell. I can’t begin to imagine how they must be feeling. I only know that you will all pull through and continue to do well in your studies. I am a final year student and I know how hard it is to concentrate on a normal day, but everyone needs to stay on track and remember not to let those students die in vain.

God bless

I’d come could I but find a way. And when you hear a song or see abird I loved, please do not let the thought of me be sad...For I am loving you as I always have...You were so good to me! There are so many things I wanted still to do-so many things to say to you...We cannot see Beyond...But this I know I loved you so-I will always be with you as love and friendships live on.
