Condolences, April 18, 2007

Hello everyone

I’m from Belgium and I saw the terrible news on TV.
I just wont to say how angry it makes me that something like that can happen.
My condolences to all the families and friends.

i’m 17 & i’m from new zealand, words can’t express how tragic this is… i’m from pretty much the other side of the world & this still deeply affects me, what an awful, unthinkable nightmare! the man that did this, i hope he rots in hell, how dare he take the lives of innocent people that are making something of themselves, i imagine he wasn’t thinking how much this would affect the familys & people around him at the time, but it should be black & white in his mind that it’s going to cause SUCH an impact on everyone… scar peoples’ lives forever, & leave them without loved ones… that murdering is NOT okay!! some people just don’t care, which is one of the worst, saddest facts of life… to those that were affected… kia kaha (be strong in maori) if only he lived to see what he’d done, my prayers are with you all…

You are in my thoughts and prayers, each and every one of you. The school spirit that was so evident from the ceremony yesterday was second to none. You should be very proud of yourselves and just remember the whole world has you in its thoughts and prayers.

The Telephones

The telephone announces
That someone reaches out for you,
But you do not answer.

The telephone asserts
Your attention is required.
But you are not available.

The telephone buzzes for your friend,
Trying to find another way,
But both of you are silent.

Again the telephone demands
That you respond right now.
But you will not be moved.

The telephones sing and play and shout
For you and all the others.
You’ve become a mystery.

The telephones cry and whine and beg
Because they need you all to answer back.
But you are unfeeling. Uncaring?

The telephones vibrate and wiggle against your skin
In the pockets of your pants to tickle each of you,
But you are growing cold to these familiar touches.

The telephones wail and grieve unseen
As men carry litters to bear you each away.
All covered and zipped in black.

And when it’s clear long before it is known
That you will never again be there,
The telephones, one by one, give up.

A week from now, and then a month,
The telephones will ask… just once
To hear your voice again:

Hey! I’m busy right now.
Call back later, though.
Go Hokies!!

When disaster strikes, there are no magic words that will make everything all right. For if there were, life would necessarily have to be unbearably empty and shallow in order to accommodate them.
What there is, is the opportunity and the obligation to love as you never have before. What there is, is the stimulus to take life to a higher level.

In your moments of most profound challenge, you are left with only what truly matters. And that is a powerful place to be.

When you are forced to experience life at its worst, it compels you to be your best. You must call upon a level of strength you never before knew was there.

And then, you begin to work through it. As you choose to move forward, life takes on greater, more profound meaning.

Choose to love, and choose to live. That is what you can do.

God looked around his Garden and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face.

He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.
His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain.
And knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw your path was difficult, he closed you tired eyes,
He whispered to you “Peace be Thine” and gave you wings to fly.
When we saw you sleeping so calm and free of pain,
We would not wish you back to earth to suffer once again.
You’ve left us precious memories, your love will be our guide,
You live on through your children, you’re always by our side.
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you on the day God called you home

Hello there VT.
My heart goes out to all of the people affected by these tragic events. I’m a lecturer at Newcastle-Under-Lyme College here in the UK, and can I say how proud I am of your staff, and their heroism during quite awful circumstances.
Rudyard Kipling’s “If” comes to mind.
Your collective community will recover, albeit slowly, and you will never forget those lost. You have my deepest sympathy.
Kindest regards

Fly, fly little wing
Fly beyond imagining
The softest cloud, the whitest dove
Upon the wind of heaven’s love
Past the planets and the stars
Leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain
And fly again

Fly, fly precious one
Your endless journey has begun
Take your gentle happiness
Far too beautiful for this
Cross over to the other shore
There is peace forevermore
But hold this mem’ry bittersweet
Until we meet

Fly, fly do not fear
Don’t waste a breath, don’t shed a tear
Your heart is pure, your soul is free
Be on your way, don’t wait for me
Above the universe you’ll climb
On beyond the hands of time
The moon will rise, the sun will set
But I won’t forget

Fly, fly little wing
Fly where only angels sing
Fly away, the time is right
Go now, find the light
