Condolences, April 18, 2007

I cry
For the lives that have been lost.
For the dreams that have been shattered.
For the sister, brother, mother, father, uncle, nephew, niece, cousin, friend, and loveone that have been taken.
For the brother, the son, the cousin, the friend, the soul who has done the forsaken.
For the pain, the anguish, the sadness that we all feel.
For the rooms, chairs, seats, places that have been left empty.
I cry

There are no words that can even touch upon what this nation is feeling right now. I am speechless. When I heard about what happened, I dropped everything I was doing and just stared, petrified. I still cannot, nor will I ever be able to comprehend why anyone could even think about doing such a inhumane act.

My heart goes out to all of the friends and family members of those who lost loved ones, you are all in my prayers. May those who lost their lives be forever remembered for who they are and not what happened to them on this horrific day.

This tragedy has affected many people in many countries. It is sickening beyond belief. Such a terrible waste of talent. Such a pathetic act and more must be done to protect the safety of students in an environment where they are supposed to feel safe at all times.
My thoughts are with everyone who knew the lost souls and their families.

To all the friends and families of the victims:

It breaks my heart seeing the compelling stories of these amazing students who lost their lives. From the accomplished and personable, Ryan Clark, to the kind-hearted, Reema Samaha, from these past few hours of watching news broadcasts, I truly feel like these people would’ve offered a lot to this world and it’s a shame that the world isn’t going to get a chance to see their talents in motion.

May God bless all of you who are going through this hard time. My family and I send our prayers to you all. I know it sounds cliche, but remember, though these loved ones are no longer physically here one earth, the memories of them are eternal and will last forever.

I wish that the killer had received the psychiatric counseling he so badly needed.  Mental illness is treatable and when it leads to bad or violent behavior it reinforces the stigma already associated with mental illness for those who cope with the illness.

This act may also add to prejudice against foreigners.

So many are affected....  if only he could not get that gun and ammo!

Peace to all!

To the students of Virginia Tech and to the friends and family of the victims:

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to everyone for this tragic event. I may not of known anyone on your campus, but I too go to a university and I know that if this ever happened on my campus, I would have the same thoughts that you are having right now. One thing, keep the memories of the fallen within you forever. Never forget them. If you’re having trouble, seek friends and family to help you through this tough time.

God’s speed,

The fields lay stretch out, a patchwork, shades of browns and greens. I can hear the soothing rumbling of the tractors, every size with different implements attatched, doing their work.  The firs and cedars are rustling, warmed by the sun, their smell is comforting but thunder clouds over head are looming and threatening the day. In the sky, is an Eagle, she is letting a hawk know that this is her area, silently they whirl and swoop and the Hawk relents. In a close field are pheasant hens, they smell me and crouch in the grass peeking to see if I will go away while the barn cats plan their next move. It’s everyday, it’s life, one action leads to another. Drought, floods, freezes, diseases, I can’t control it, any of it and so it goes. My heart is aching with it all, pain floods my senses. I have stood in the cemetery knowing I can’t change it, children are born and children pass, they can leave us…It’s more than I can bear but I do. One day I looked out on the fields and felt the warmth, the comfort, the reality of a never ending cycle and so it goes, until the leaves turn gold and scarlet and the trees become bear of their leaves and the fields lay waiting, waiting for it all to begin again…
