I am not a Hokies fan, nor do I know anyone at Virginia Tech, I am just a woman, a Mother, in New Jersey that is really feeling the pain and the loss of the faculity and students of your University.  The students, parents, and faculty must have been so scared.. I truly feel sorrow for all of the victims, and their families.. I can’t even imagine… When our son went away to school, I worried constantly...I don’t even know if I could let my son or daughter go back there.  They will have to live with this for the rest of their lives..I pray for all of you..hang in there, and cling to each other and pray for strength… having each other will get you thru this...and may the victims rest peacefully in heaven with God...and may their families find peace, and faith in their time of need.  God Bless all of you.

My 12 yr old son saw me watching CNN on this horrible event. a few minutes later he comes in my room with all the money he had in his room $36 saying “I know this isn’t much but every little bit helps- I want to donate this to Virginia Tech”
WOW my heart filled.
He got that PEOPLE are more important than money.
Gifts from the HEART are what counts.
I’ve encouraged him to share a personal note to the families and students affected by this tragedy instead. I expect him to write his wishes here soon.
God Bless all of you at VT, families of those victims, and even the parents of Cho - all of you are sufferring - my heart goes out to all of you.

Dear Hokies,

The response that you all have shown after this tragedy has made me believe in God. I have never been religious, but your perseverance through this tragedy has inspired me. Faith comes to mind. You have been hit with this horrible situation, but you all have the overwhelming faith to overcome it. Faith in each other to help one another through the ordeal, and faith in whatever God or power you believe in that He, She, or It will allow you to remember the lost loved ones in happiness instead of eternal sadness. Sorrow grips you all, but you drive through it with the knowledge that happiness will come again, and you move on with your lives. No, you will never forget the fellow students, friends, and family you lost, but you have within you the ultimate willpower to prevent the memories to eat you from the inside and hollow out your soul.

My prayers are with the friends and families of all those lost on that horrible day. I wish I could say more to try to console you, but I know nothing I will say will take away the sadness. Again, I am praying for all of you, and I will never forget how this has touched me.

Love from Thomas Pollack.

All of us have been touched by this senseless tragedy. Words can do little in the face of such sorrow; nevertheless, I offer a few of them: You are not alone in this. We all stand behind you.

Let us work towards peace. So that this never happens again. I pray that this will move us toward cooperation and harmony, embracing all those around us in a gesture of solidarity. Blessed be.

Words do not--and cannot--do any justice when it comes to how we all feel about this terrible tragedy. Nothing we say can make us wake up from the nightmare. Nothing we do can make it go away, or make it wish as if it never even happened.

But one thing is absolutely certain...even though we come from every corner of the Earth, and from all walks of life, right now, as of this moment, we are all Hokies.

Life will go on--it has to.

As a student at the University of Arkansas, we are all deeply saddened by the terrible and senseless act that have taken place at VT. The entire Razorback Nation stands with you in mourning. On Friday we, as Arkansans who though indirectly connected feel so directly affected by the tragedy, will be wearing orange and maroon. Next monday we will be observing a campus wide moment of silence as well as having an 8pm peace vigil in memory of those who were lost.
I know that this message of condolence will be lost among thousands, but I pray for your peace and the end of your sorry- and if it is possible, that the day will come when life there in Virginia returns to some symbalance of normalcy.
Though Hogs, today we are all Hokies. God bless.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families and their love ones. I had a tragedy last July where I almost lost my daughter and I can’t imagine how you are all coping. I cried today when I saw on the TODAY SHOW where one of the DAD’S that lost her daughter was staying strong and not showing his emotions. I want to let everyone know that I feel for you and feel your pain as if you were my family.

My parents have lost two children and we all feel the pain.  Our love to you.

One month ago my 9-year old granddaughter was killed while riding her bicycle.  Words can’t take away the grief and sorrow...but, the following poem has been very comforting to all of us.

Lord, we know You’re always busy,
For You’ve many things to do,
But when sorrow overcomes us,
Well, we need to talk to You.

For we’ve lost someone precious
And they’re with You, there above,
And it’s someone that we needed,
And it’s someone that we love.

We are feeling lost and all alone,
And though we do believe,
We need You, Lord, to hold us up,
To help us while we grieve.

Please give us strength and courage Lord,
To bear what we must bear,
And nudge us when our faith is weak
To remind us You are there.

Give us hope for our tomorrow’s,
Tell us life will still go on,
Show us, Lord, that all this darkness
Will be followed by the dawn.

You have led us through many things,
You’ve pulled us through before,
Hold us up, Lord, till we’re through this
And we are strong once more.

~~ Unknown ~~

May God comfort each and everyone of you...our prayers are with you.

To the President, Faculty,all staff members, each and every student, including our granddaughter Alex, and the family members of the students;

You have our deepest sympathy for what you are going through.  From the bottom of our heart we pray to Jesus Christ for the healing that must take place so that all may go on with their lives.  We feel your pain because we are a “Hokie” family who has walked the campus both as a student, as parents of students and now as grandparents of a student.

We pray that you will not allow this event to take away your feeling of security on that beautiful campus.  Remember that once you are a “Hokie” you are always a “Hokie” and with that comes comfort that you are never alone.

We have never been prouder than when we watched as you met on the Drill field and held hands in large groups and small groups and prayed and prayed and prayed again.  You showed the world that you are not afraid to pray in public.  I hope that after all of this has settled down that you can be seen standing in groups and again praying.  Not because something has happened but just to give God your praise and glory.

Your “Hokie” Family,
Rev. Frank T. Davis class ‘62 and wife Patricia
