To everyone who lost a friend, daughter, son, sister, brother, mother, father, or loved one in this tragedy, my heart is with you. I have experienced loss like this firsthand. My boyfriend’s father was taken April 2004 by an act of violence and there is no reason, no meaning and no answer for losing someone you love and admire this way. I am a student at a community college in Louisville. I have attended many campuses throughout Kentucky. I am deeply saddened for each and everyone of you feeling loss at this time. Virginia Tech seems to have the unity, pride, love and devotion that it will take to overcome this tragedy in the future and as days pass, I will be praying for you and hope that you find peace.

Dear Hokies,

There is a song that my church sings when someone passes. I hope that this brings a little peace to you as it did me when my best friend died.

When it’s time to leave
this dimention here
help me to be brave
please remind me not to fear
my life is in your hands
as it is today
passing is so brief
together each step of the way

I love you
you love me
my soul lives in thee

Just remember many of the students who left this world had their souls living in God. God has them now and is taking care of each one of them just as he is taking care of you during your time of grief. Lots of peace, and faith and mercy to each and everyone of you. I know it doesn’t make sense why people do things they do, but where evil abounds God abounds much more. Just remember to put your faith in God during this time and he will hold you in his hands just as he held those who lost their lives in this terrible tragedy. May God give you the peace and the strength to move foward.

Our prayers and thoughts are with the families and victims of this tragedy. Time will heal all wounds, this too shall pass, yet never will it be forgotten. May all who are affected continue to stay strong. Remember evil has no race, no gender, nor nationality, there is only one to blame. J. & M. H.

I have spent most of my career in education and I have watched as time has changed the landscape of our institutions through incomprehensible violence.  I find my heart heavier and heavier with each bit of news about this senseless tragedy.  If there are enough thoughts and prayers to help the students and families of Virginia Tech, I send those to you now.

No words can express the saddness and shock of this entire country.  I cannot believe such a tragedy has happened at a campus similar to my own, it makes me sick to my stomach.  My thoughts and prayers will be with you everyday.  Stay strong, God would never give us something he doesn’t think we can handle.  This will only make us stronger as a country and a community.

If we the Nation and World could capitalize on the Love, Compassion and unity that VA Tech has shown. A mixing bowl of all cultures, races, creeds and colors: students, faculty and persons from all across the world. This is a very positive of the tragedy. It would be neat to see it grow and grow not wilt, it would givve meaning for those who lost their lives. We admire ALL of you and our hearts are heavy for you. May GOD Bless each and every one of you!

I wish I could come up with some magic word’s to make all your pain go away, but there are none! I can tell you all that even here in Alabama, you are being thought of and prayed for! Everywhere I look I see flags lowered, stores putting signs of condolences out, school’s and homes taking moments to pray and think of all of you! And to think of all the people who want to take GOD out of school’s! I pray that in the days to come that you know you are remembered, and being lifted up, for the families and friend’s of those lost, and for student’s as you have to go back in the classroom’s. I’m a huge BAMA fan, but I think I now have a little HOKIE in me!! May GOD be with each of you!!! Pam Carr

We wish to express our sorrow regarding the tragic events at Virginia Tech.

God, you sacrificed your son so that we and our children would transcend physical death. We know that you grieved when he was crucified and that you grieve over all the atrocities done by men—especially in your name. You know and understand grief as you know and understand all. You know best how to comfort these parents. Lift their hearts up to you and fill them with your peace. Your understanding is beyond our human comprehension, but give them the knowledge and faith to endure even that which they can’t understand. Let them be aware of you always God, and help them to remember that your Love is Life that can never really be taken away.

Dear VirginiaTech Family,

Our hearts and prayers are with you throughout this difficult time.  My heart aches just like so many others.  Please continue to stand together as the strong family that you are and hug one another often.  Share your hearts and prayers and look out for each other.  You must know by now that you will have all the support and help you will need to get through this year and beyond.  But most importantly, God is with you and He will see you through.  Trust in Him.

My heartfelt sympathy and prayers are with the Tech “family”.
Mental illness strikes every gender and race ~ such a tragedy can not be explained nor understood, and though our hearts are heavy with grief we must move forward and realize it was the illness that caused the trigger to be pulled, not a specific race.
Please pray for the shooter’s family also, because of the enormous burden they now carry.  As a parent you feel sadness and shame when your child does something that is against society’s values, and the utter disbelief that your child could do such a thing strikes to the core of your being.
Please remember ~ no matter what he said on the video, ONLY THE SHOOTER WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS ACTIONS ~ NO ONE ELSE !  I refuse to even use his name, the sooner his name is forgotten the sooner healing can begin.
May God comfort you all.
