Although you all feel weakened and burdened by this tradegy in the immediate moment, there is an impending strength that is clear to be seen in you all, even now, in the wake of this sudden event. To see all of you stand together evokes strong human emotion on many levels and reminds us all of what is truly important. Even after such a terrible thing has happened, it is truly a miracle to see so much love and compassion for each other come out of it. May all of God’s blessings be rushed to you, and his love emitted through you.

Everyone at VT is a victim reguardless of wheather or not they were injured or died.  God be with all of you now and forever.  God keep you under his wings as you continue your education during this time of sorrow.  No man or woman deserves to have this done to them.  However we now know that this young man was sick and needed help.  It is such a shame that so many lives were lost because this young man didn’t want the help he was offered.  Continue to pray for your friends and their families as they will be for you.

April 18, 2007, 11:53pm • Hampton, Va • #25521

Dear Virginia Tech community,

President Bush was correct in telling you yesterday that there are people all over the world thinking about you and asking God to give you comfort. I hope you can sense the love and support as we weep with you and remember you in our prayers. You are not alone.

As you recover from the shock and begin healing, may God give you…

Beauty for ashes
Strength for fear
Gladness for mourning
Peace for despair

Sitting in my Chemistry class today, I kept looking around me and then looking towards the door. I spent close to the whole time thinking of how it would feel to have someone burst in and start shooting. The terror and shock the victims must have felt is unimaginable.

I would like to send my condolences to those that escaped this tragedy with their life and for the families left behind of those who didn’t. May you find the strength to overcome your sorrow.

VT was such a beautiful campus, from the first time i saw it on collegeboard. The beauty in the world makes me question how someone can have such a vivid hate for the world, and human life itself. Its just so unfair how people do good deeds, and suffer from selfish moves such as this. I think this event shows how Envy and Hatred can lead to violence. I am truly sorry for those who were effected, and i hope that life will progress back to normal, and that you gain power within eachother to rebuild the hokie pride.

April 18, 2007, 11:54pm • Camarillo, Ca. • #25532

To VA Tech faculty, staff, students, family & friends:
I am deeply saddened by the tragedy that took place April 16. I’m a 20-year-old college student, and while I live far away, my heart breaks for everyone injured and the innocent lives taken. I’ve heard stories of courage and stories of loss. While I did not know the victims (nor anyone else at VA Tech), by hearing and reading their stories, I FEEL like I’ve come to know them in these last few days. What an amazing group of young people your college has. Please know that all of y’all are in (and will continue to be) in my thoughts and prayers every day. May God comfort and heal you as only He can. May He give you strength in the coming days and calm your fears when school resumes. I pray that you all feel a sense of healing and peace and understand that the nation mourns with you. May God Bless each and every one of you. Stay strong--we’re all behind you 100%.

As a college student that is miles away from Virginia tech, this shocking event has hit close to home.

As a student teacher with a class full of her own students, I learn what putting the safety of students first.

As a person, I hurt for the families, speechless at a time that creates anger, and hopefully that some good can come from this.

Hokies, we’ll all be thinking about you.

April 18, 2007, 11:54pm • Sacramento, CA • #25535

Having gone to school at Radford, I frequented the Virginia Tech campus and know it very well, particularly Amber Johnston. My brother is a Hokie Alum, my cousin is a Hokie Alum, and I have many friends who are Hokie Alum. Each have been affected by what has happened, even after many years being away from the campus, going back for the occasional football game. My brother remains associated with his fraternity (after being out of school for nearly 20 years) as well as is actively involved with his local Va Tech Alumni Association in Austin. They are Hokies through and through, and although I’m a Highlander, I’m a Hokie by association.

Undoubtedly the strength and pride of Virginia Tech Alum is not only a reflection of the foundation of the Institute, but an undying source of strength for all current faculty, staff, students, and their families in this time of tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with each and every proud Virginia Tech Hokie. Stay strong, stay proud, together you will rise above this. Go Hokies.

I live a couple miles from the Amish School at Nickle Mines, PA, where just a few months ago another such tragedy occurred.  As a counselor to children I tried to help families to trust, hope and love again...and today it’s still very hard.  But there is a new school close by and those that remain recently celebrated a new day as they joined one another in the classroom again.  These families have found the strength they needed to continue in the Lord.  As such I share this blessing with the families, friends, staff and fellow students of VT and in the Blacksburg community… “The Lord bless you, and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” God’s Speed.

To Whom it may concern:
I would first like to offer my greatest sympathies to those effected by the recent events and to all those connected to the school. In January there was a similar but no where as drastic situation at my own school and I know the feeling in the pit of stomach like everything you had come to hold as sacred has been ripped away and the world seems cold and unforgiving. But it gets better, every day you start to cry a little less, you smile a little more, and you learn a little something else. The scar it has left on the school will never disappear entirely, but the strength of the school will continually deepen. Overall, I would like to offer the support of my community to that of Virginia Tech. You are in out prayers and thoughts.

no one ever really dies, they’re just at another place chillin’, probably doing what they love best, with their favorite drink at hand, while their favorite song is playing in the background. some people call it heaven. those who left before their time more than likely are right there. they’re in heaven i’d like to think. even the tortured soul who felt he had to kill, he’s there too, he’s been forgiven i think. his comrades forgave him and he’s with the crew, also just relaxin’ and enjoying heaven. in heaven, i picture it as a perpetual study lounge complete with wi-fi, the most comfortable chairs, people are harmoniously having intelligent conversations, some are writing poetry, some are painting, some taking naps. like a sort of higher education heaven. i think all 33 souls who left this existence prematurely are right there. all i have to say is; see you when i get there.

To all of the Family, Friends, Students, & Faculty Members of Virginia Tech:
I would like to express my heartfelt prayers & condolences to each of you.  At times such as this, it becomes imperative to not only remember, but also focus on & meditate on the Lord’s words / promises: “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths” (Proverbs 3: 5-6) and in John 10:10 Jesus says: “The thief does not come except to steal, kill, & destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” God Bless each of you!
