To the President, Staff, Families, & Children:
As a mother of a son in tech school - this tragedy hits my heart in more ways than one. We have lost 32 beautiful lives, a loss that we will likely grieve for many years to come.  My love and prayers go to each family that is mourning the loss of a loved one from this tragedy.

Sometimes allowing yourself to cry is the scariest thing you`ll ever do. And the bravest. It takes a lot of courage to face the facts, stare loss in the face, bare your heart, and let it bleed. But it is the only way to cleanse your wounds and prepare them for healing. God will take care of the rest.
My condolences God Bless each of you

Dear Virginia Tech Faculty and Students.

My heart is heavy for you all for what has happened at your school. As the parent of two college aged girls, I find this violence hard to understand.

You are not alone. This nation grieves with you. I, a college mom, grieve with you all.  Please to President Bush and lawmakers in our country, the time for change is now. Let’s start taking campus violence seriously.

I am moved by your loyalty to each other and I will keep you all in my prayers as you heal and like your charismatic and wonderful poet with her strong and vibrant smile indicated, you will not be undone by this. You will go on and be the great university that you are.

And as you do that, you continue in my prayers, and the prayers of this country. You are not alone Virginia Tech Faculty and Students. Once you were surrounded by this horrible violence. The healing strength that this nation surrounds you with now has that other emotion outdone.

Thank you for teaching us by your example, to hope, and to begin to heal. I admire you all.

This country’s got you in a big bear hug. LOTS of prayers.

Lillian N.

My name is Nick Eccleston. IM 14 and from Chantilly VA ,I wrote this poem in the memory to all who died.

Title: The Hokie Spirit Will Ride On

Why did this happen we’ll never know,
A great travesty now leaves us low.
No one saw it coming
But when it struck it hurt us so.
Many died upon this day,
When a gunman came in and took their lives away.
Others were injured that same awful day,
But live to fight another day.
Virginia Tech is where all of this happened,
Students, Teachers, Parents are all wonder why this had to happen.
A few days have passed and it’s now starting to sink in,
All the wonderful people they’ll never see again.
Yes, this mourning is still going on today,
But everyone is looking to a brighter day.
Keep praying for all those who died on that horrible day, and with everyone’s support the Hokie Spirit will
Ride on day after day.

In Loving Memory to all who Died on April 16, 2007. May you all live in peace with God.

I would like to say i am sorry to everyone there.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the WHOLE COMMUNITY.  As social work student i am deeply sadden by this event and Wish i could come out there and help out.  Even if i could just come out there to let anyone talk to me and just let it all, be there for an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on.  This event has just felt like a knife in my heart.  Its amazing i don’t know anyone who goes there but it has effected me deeply.  Time will heal, maybe not to day , maybe not tomorrow, maybe not in a year, but one day it will heal we will always remeber thhat awful day.  But we must always remeber The lord is always with us, and with our supports systems and the care we have from around the world will help this healing process.Celebrate their lives and mourn for their losses.Gob Bless you all from deep deep down in my heart. You are all in our thoughts and prayers and remeber to keep your chin up. We are all here to help and support you in this time of need.  God bless!  Love Megan

My condolences to all those who lost love ones at Va Tech!

Yesterday all of you were here,
today you are not.
Yesterday we saw your faces,
today they are gone.
Yesterday we heard your voices,
today they are silent.
Yesterday your words touched our minds;
today they leave an indelible imprint in our hearts and souls.
Yesterday we were proud to call you our friends and our mentors;
today we are better people because of it.
Yesterday we blossomed in the bask of your benevolent spirits;
today, even death cannot diminish your invaluable loving vitalities.
Yesterday I was disheartened by the news of your untimely deaths,
today I believe that time bows to all of you, as a gallantry to your everlasting graciousness.
Yesterday we laughed together and today we cry;
tomorrow all of you will be gone, but none of you will ever be forgotten.
Today and always let our love for all of you shine like a beacon of hope to guide us through our difficult journey of mourning.

Im a Hokie living in Texas. My heart is sad for all the pain the families of the slain and the students, faculty and alumni are suffering. I was a charter member of the Virgina Tech Rescue Squad and 3rd Captain in 1972-73 and am proud to see 34 years later that the squad did a heroic job that terrible day treating the wounded and saving lives. I was also a member of the Corps of Cadets and was equally proud of how they quickly signed up to stand guard on the memorial at the War Memorial Chapel. The conduct of the students and staff at VT is truly inspiring. My tears are with yours.

As a woman who was lucky enough to marry a Hokie- 8years total at VT- undergr. and Vet school- I know what being a Hokie means.  It is not just his alma-mater, it is in his soul.  On his days off- it has always been tech shirts, the flag of VT flies over our yard in Minnesota- his watch has the VT symbol on the face- Most people go to college and get a degree, make some new friends, and set off on a career- when you go to Tech- you get all that, but you get a new family 25,000 strong- and family does not forget-

I know that most of us can never understand what all of you went through.  As someone who went to college and works in the schools, I realize that your school did the very best that it could do.  We can all second guess ourselves but that won’t change what happened.  Stand strong and stand together and you will get through this.  You will always have those people who lost their have them in your memories and heart, and they won’t be forgotten!  If there was ever a time that you needed someone, we are all here for you.

Many of us can’t imagine what would drive someone to do something so horrific and to ruin his own family’s lives.  In my mind only 32 people were killed that day.  It was 32 people and a suicide.  To include him in the count with those other great people is horrible, especially since he was the cause for this destruction.

We are all praying for all of you and we won’t forget.  You will forever be in our hearts!
