My heart goes out to family, friends, past and present, and all those “touched” by the recent events in Blacksburg, VA.  This is a close-knit community.

Previously, my closest contact to VT was “sports” related.  Years ago, VPI(as they appeared on the schedule) would come to Lexington, KY to play UK and the Cats would win.  Then the Hokies moved onto bigger and better things. Today, we can’t even compete with the strong Hokie team.

I traveled to ROA and C-ville, and made sales calls in the 90s - but never to Blacksburg, VA.

A tradegy of this magnitude helps put everything in perspective - whether it be sports or business related.  It makes me think, “why did I think winning the game meant so much.” One way or another, we’re all tied to the tragedy.

Today, more than ever, I want to be there. To share the sorrow.

Time will heal. . . and from what I’ve viewed in the media, the Hokie Nation is damn strong.

Today, and for years to come, I am a Hokie Fan.

Condolences to all and in the words of your professor Nikki Giovanni, “We Are Virginia Tech”.

On the 16th, we all became family.  It doesn’t matter how far away we are and who we are.  It doesn’t matter that we have never met any of you.  You are our brother, sister, father, son or daughter.  Please know that we pray for you and
feel such deep sadness our hearts are broken.
May God Bless all of you and help you to continue.

To the families of those slain at VT,

I just saw the pictures the killer sent to the media. Those poor people couldn’t possibly know what was about to hit them. May God comfort you during this profound time of loss and sorrow.

Words cannot express the sorrow we are all feeling as a nation. We have all lost something or someone in this tragedy. Our thoughts, prayers, and hearts are with you all!

As an educator, I can tell you that something like this affects all types of students. My middle-schoolers have had so many questions. So many, that I am looking for ways to answer them. However, I know that talking about it is what we need to do. For, we must realize that we cannot live in fear because of the actions of one.

As a recent college alumni, I know the love, joy, and family that builds on a college campus. Having experienced the Hokie Nation, I can say with confidence that there is no other place like Virginia Tech. I know that the Hokie Nation will be a pillar of strength for all those who grieve and seek answers. However, the Hokie Nation no longer stops in Blacksburg...WE ARE ALL HOKIES! We are all here for you!

May God truly bless each and every one of you. May he help to bring you an inner peace that will help you to cope and rebuild your lives!

We love you all!

As a student at UVA, I, and all fellow Wahoos, send our condolences to you all. We support you all and continue to think about you and pray for you all during this time of great sorrow. As President Casteen put it “For UVA,...Virginia Tech is family”, and you are our family, and we will continue to stand with you, putting aside our rivalry. If there is anything you need us to do, please let us know. God bless you all.

I’ve live about 2 hours from Blacksburg and have visited the campus/town helping a friend. I know a lot of the kids who attend from my hometown community, so I feel very close to what happened monday. I’ve personally dealt with tragedy myself and know the pain and emptiness that follows a sudden blow like this. I just hurt so bad for innocent lives taken. I want the families and the VT community to know that their pain is shared by me and the rest of the country right now. These lives WERE NOT LOST IN VAIN. There is a bigger picture we have to see, to keep us moving foward, to help us heal, to help us forgive.  I know it hurts now, but there is a warm, sunny day waiting us all up ahead. May the peace of the Almighty comfort you and keep your hearts safe in the midst of this storm. I love you all.

I am greatly disheartened by the tragedy that took place at Virginia Tech. My thoughts are with the friends, families, and Hokie (sp?) community in this difficult time. I am a teacher in CA and it’s hard to believe in 2007 that we have to deal with these horrid atrocities. Fortunately, the human heart is strong and will prevail.

To The Hokie Nation,
I am thankful for this website as I now feel I can finally express my grief and sadness to the horror that came into our lives on the 16th. Words cannot express my love for our great University and the people who make it so alive. This spirit can hopefully give some solace to the family and friends of the fallen. Nikki Giovanni said things so well and we are very fortunate to have her in our midst.. As Hokies we will go forward and we will see more wonderful things from the young minds being shaped today. On Monday, our thoughts and prayers will be with you as you continue on the exciting road to the future. I am so impressed by the wonderful support system in place and wish them wisdom and comfort in this time of need.  I, my daughter and son are all Hokies and always will be. See you in the Fall. We had a vigil here in Northern VA tonight, the 18th, in Great Falls at 8:00 PM. It was wonderful and healing. It finished with the cheers of “LET’S GO HOKIES!!! And you know what? WE WILL!!!

Your child, your friend, your brother, your sister, your grandchild, your beloved has been sent to his/her permanent home...and as the hym goes, “there are no tears in heaven.”

No words can express the shock and the sadness we have now, for the young and intelligent people, for the friends and the families of those people, for the world peace, and for the future of our world.  As a mom, and as a Korean, my heart breaks and my shoulders feel tons of weight.  What has gone wrong?  Why, why, why?

Deeply saddened by the loss of precious lives of young people who had the brightest future, I wish to beg for forgiveness and to send out a faint piece of condolence, if I could.

We are saddened to a degree you can’t understand. We do not know anyone at VT nor have we been to your school or even that part of your state. We do however have children that were in an ACC college and grand children that will probably be in that same school eventually, we hope. So we can very well imagine what you and your families are going through at this time. We pray and grieve with each of you without you knowing. Stand together and stay together. Your hurting will not stop for a long time. But all of you can change this world for the better. We should have done a better job in advance of your arrival to this point in time. Others should have also. The future is yours to design for the the next generations. Please do it better than we have. God bless all of you.
