As the spouse, mother, sister and sister-in-law of HOKIES, I would like to applaud the courageous leadership of President Steger and the VA TECH police department in this time of great tragedy.

I share the words of poet James Dillet Freeman:
“Let us not be afraid. We are sailors on the sea of eternity, life’s wayfarers, and we are well companioned on this voyage. Let us sail on with faith, with courage in our hearts. Beyond the dark, behold: It is another dawn!”

Me and my family send our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to the VT family and all those families that lost their kids in that senseless incident.  The bible says that we should take our worries and heavey burdens to our Lord, because he cares for us and will make our burdens light.
We might not understand why, but I ask that we all should relay on our faith to take us through this terrible time.  Cry if your feel like, talk it out if you feel like.  Write a poem in remembrance of your love one if it will heal you, but please don’t think of hate, because it will only glorify the killer and not your love one.  Take courage in the Lord or your faith.  You are in my family prayers.  God bless.

As a Texas A&M University family member I recall the heartbreak we suffered when our bonfire fell (1999).My son had been on it earlier that evening .The horror of wondering if he was one of the students that had been injured or even dead ,the feeling will always be there .So I understand the pain and heartbreak that you all must be going through at this time .We are praying that you all find solace in your faith and remember that we all have our purpose in life and that this tradgedy as horrible as it is, will give us a chance to reflect on how we live our lives. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all .God Bless you ....

Virgina Tech,

You are sad, you are hurt, and you are angry.  You have every right to be.  God is just as hurt and angry as you are.  I know that He will show Himself as the just God that He is.  He is the Great Healer and in due season you will experience Him in that way. Each day you will make it!!
Psalm 31:7

my heart has been wounded deeply. i can’t possibly imagine what you must be feeling. i have preyed for you all and will continue to do so. my hope is that all those affected will heal and remember the dear ones that were lost, not by the way they were lost, rather for who they were. and may we all cherish the memories we have and spend our energies making new ones with those who love us most. it is promised that god will wipe every tear from our eyes and death will be no more, and all causes for pain will be eliminated. Dear Faculty and Students at Virginia Tech

My family and I have been deeply disturbed by the awful tragedy and loss of such young lives.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to each and every one of you and may God give the families strength and courage to bear this loss. I can understand and feel the pain, as I lost my brother in a tragic accident a few years ago.  I would like to share with you this poem I wrote for him the year he left us, to try and give my family a little peace and hope to cling onto in their time of sorrow.

I am up there in the stars, in the breezes that blow
Smiling down on you, guiding your steps below
You are never alone, reach out to me
I am there in the rainbows, in the colours you see
Call on me, reach out to me, even deep in the night
I will hold you close, keep you near, till the early morning light
Do not weep, smile for me..I love you that way
For I am with you, I am near you, every single day
