It saddens us to know that these bright minds were not even given a chance.  That those who were teaching them that day, cannot proceed because of one person who felt life was less than what it really is.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims and all of Virginia Tech.  We are all Hokies!  God Bless you all.  The Spencer’s.

I sat at home, glued to the television, in absolute disbelief as the horrendous news of this event unfolded.  The nation is grieving with you, while admiring the strength and courage of The Hokies in the aftermath of this senseless act of violence.  My deepest sympathies go out to the families who lost loved ones on this horrible day.  My prayers are that you will find comfort and strength in God during this time of mourning. May God bless the students, staff, and families affected by this tragedy.

I am proud now more than ever to be a VT alumni.  My heart is saddened by this tragic event, but I have been so touched this week by the goodness of the VT and Blacksburg community. My prayers go up for the families of the victims and all of the Blacksburg community.  You are a wonderful place.  VT is where I made lifelong friends, worked under talented and compassionate faculty, met my husband of 10 years, and had my first of 3 sons.  I will always remember first that Virginia Tech is where some of the happiest memories of my life were made.  Hang in there Virginia Tech.  We love you!  We are Hokies!!

Dear Virginia Tech Factulty, staff, Students, and Parents,

I will not say that I understand what happened or why Mr. Cho reacted the way that he did; but, I want to say that everyone of you and the victims are all heroes to the rest us.  I will pray for everyone around the world that has been effected and affected by this senseless situation.  I will pray for peace and a realization that those that are no longer with us died as heroes and I hope to be able to shake their hands in heaven when I meet them when it is my turn.  God bless all of you.... you are not alone!

It’s absolutely a tragedy. I was completely shocked when I heard about this. I feel so sorry for those that died in the tragedy and those that just lost their beloved ones. I just hope that you’ll hang in there and go through this together. May God bless you!

To all affected by this tragedy:

I am still shocked by what has occurred in your lives. I know there is nothing that could be said to ease your pain and loss. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all in this time of healing, sadness, and renewal. I pray that your school will continue to grow stronger and closer. Please do not let this person win by sending you home and never returning. Life and the pursuit of an education and happiness must prevail or else the evil one will win. So come back to school with your head held high. Graduate and become the doctor, lawyer, teacher, and architect that you first intended. Then you can truly say that you were down but NOT defeated.

A few weeks ago, a young 15 year old girl died who I knew a little bit. It was devastating. And then when this news broke...My brother goes to VT. Luckily, he is ok and so are his close friends. I have been watching CNN and the news for the past 3 days, and now after NBC got the tape from Cho...I can’t even listen anymore. I get chills and start to cry and get scared. My brother might not be here now because of this. Because they did not call a lock down after the first shooting, my brother still went to class because nothing was said. The shooter could have gone into his classroom. I always cry when I think of that.

I am so thankful he is ok and so are his friends and everyone that is alright. I feel horrible for those lives who were taken. It was not right. It wasn’t fair. And I know that, especially after the girl near where I live passed away.

It gives you a chance to appreciate life. It was terrible, and I am so mad at what happened and so saddened.

As I read the background of each individual/victim, I am so proud of their accomplishments - what bright, talented people - what a major loss to society… No words can begin to describe the sorrow and emptiness V Tech families must be living through, but, in the traditional Hokie pride - your courage, class and strength to overcome this horrific tragedy will ultimately be your greatest achievement.  No matter what your religious affiliation, may God embrace each and every one of you, and in time, heal your aching hearts…
God bless all of you,

Mercy Me has a song called Homesick and I wanted to share part of the song with the Virginia Tech Community.
“I close my eyes and I see your face
If home’s where my heart is then I’m out of place
Lord, won’t you give me strength to make it through somehow
I’ve never been more homesick than now
In Christ, there are no goodbyes
And in Christ, there is no end
So I’ll hold onto Jesus with all that I have
To see you again
To see you again
And I close my eyes and I see your face
If home’s where my heart is then I’m out of place
Lord, won’t you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won’t you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won’t you give me strength to make it through somehow
I’ve never been more homesick than now”

May God comfort you in your time of sorrow and give you strength to make it thought somehow. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Giving my condolences is a small thing when compared to the pain that parents, siblings and spouses are feeling after losing their loved ones. But you should know that all over the world people are praying for you as our hearts break with yours. This was an unthinkable horror. We stand beside you as we look to the future together. This was a poem i wrote in memory…

“33 on the 16th”
Dear God in Jesus’name we pray,
please be with those not hear with us today,
yesterday was a great great tragedy,
when ones who were loved became lost to all

People and there anger should dissapear,
when those of innocence are somewhere near,
when things got out of control that one day,
many families lost their once loved forever,

Dear God in Jesus’name we pray,
please be with those not hear with us today,
yesterday was a great great tragedy,
when ones who were loved became lost to all

The letter of 8 pages found time after,
when bodies of 33 victims lay under the rafters,
help showed up a little 2 hours too late,
when the killer was found he was gone,

Dear God in Jesus’name we pray,
please be with those not hear with us today,
yesterday was a great great tragedy,
when ones who were loved became lost to all

...I hope this helps some people get through these hard times…

"Our heart aches, trembles with fear
Our mind is heavy..Speechless are we
Our eyes are blurry, tears do not dry
As we think of the losses from the days gone by”.

I did not know any of you as you did not know me.
But my soul has been saddened by your loss to society, and my heart goes out to your friends and family. I hope one day when the grim reaper crosses my threshold, that i shall have the honour to finally meet my fellow Brothers and Sisters.

I raise a glass to the.

Weary brother, broken daughter,
Little widow mother, you’re not alone
If you’re tired and scared of the madness around you
If you can’t find the strength to carry on

When you call on Jesus,
All things are possible
You can mount on wings like eagles’ and soar
When you call on Jesus,
Mountains are gonna fall
‘Cause He’ll move heaven and earth to come rescue you when you--

Call Him in the mornin’, in the afternoon time
Late in the evenin’ He’ll be there
When your heart is broken,
And you feel discouraged,
You can just remember that He said
He’ll be there

When I call on Jesus,
All things are possible
I can mount on wings like eagles’ and soar
When I call on Jesus,
Mountains are gonna fall
‘Cause He’ll move heaven and earth to come rescue me.
-Nicole C. Mullen - “When I Call on Jesus”

~~Don’t lose your faith, allow God to pull you closer to him.~~

We are just your everyday, ordinary Tech alums.  We fly our Hokie flag proudly on our front porch, drive around with Tech personalized license plates, and our daughter knows her nickname is “Hokie Girl”.  We love attending every home football game and cheered the basketball team this season.  It is so hard to believe that a place like Tech, our home and our heart, could have something like this happen.  We could not be more proud to be a graduate of Virginia Tech on an ordinary day, but now we are especially proud.
