I remember Columbine, and Taber, when I was in high school....and feeling personally invaded by the idea that a place dedicated to education could be so compromised by the acts of a few individuals.
And now I’m in University, and I feel as vulnerable and unsafe as I did as a teenager roaming the halls of high school.
Let’s take this tragedy and use it to our advantage, as we should have done so many years ago. Let’s watch out for each other, let’s take heed of the warning signals these troubled people exhibit. Let’s make sure it doesn’t happen again…

Please know that my heart and thoughts are with everyone who lost someone they loved, and know that you’re not alone.
Your country mourns for you.
My country mourns for you.
The whole world mourns.

Dear VT students, faculties, and families, we pray for you and share with you the metta sutra:

May everyone be happy and safe, and may their hearts be filled with joy.

May all living beings live in security and peace—beings who are frail or strong, tall or short, big or small, visible or not visible, near or far away, already born, or yet to be born.

May all of them dwell in perfect tranquillity.

Let no one do harm to anyone. Let no one put the life of anyone in danger. Let no one, out of anger or ill will, wish anyone any harm.

Just as a mother loves and protects her only child at the risk of her own life, let us cultivate boundless love to offer to all beings in the entire cosmos.

Let our boundless love pervade the whole universe, above, below and across.

Our love will know no obstacles, our heart will be absolutely free from hatred and enmity.

Whether standing or walking, sitting or lying, as long as we are awake, let us maintain this mindfulness of love in our heart.

I am deeply sorry for the events that occured on monday. I know there are no words to say that will make things better. Just know this because of the bravery of your fellow classmates and teachers the rest of us have learned, because of how strong of a community you have become due to this we have come to see the good in everyone. Although i dont know any of you, just know you are always in my heart and i will always think of you.

Dear Students, Friends, and Family Members: I know not one of you, you all are just faces to me, but my heart is saddened and painful to look into eyes of sorrow and full of tears. Alot of eyes are empty, I see fear and uncertainity. Let us remember as we go through one tragic event after another in this lifetime, whether it be a friend, family member, or a person you see on TV, this is the day the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. Let not you heart be saddened, but be ready in your hearts, when that day comes, whether we are 18 or 47, to meet our Lord and Savior. The world is full of evil and wickedness, we can’t escape, but we can be ready by putting on our armor of God. My heart hurts for all you young adults. I have a daughter age 20. She is the light of my life. I saw my daugther in each eye. Please if nothing else, examine your heart and life and live for Jesus every day from this day forward. If evil goes in, Evil will come out. May God Bless and keep you all.

I am very sorry for what happend at Virginia Tech.
No one saw it coming. But we must remeber that this world is filled with cruel, heartless people. Sometimes we can not recognize their intentions, or their insanity. Therefore, we must not blame ourselves.
This was a very tragic incident.
I pray for the families whom lost cousins, nieces, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, and friends. I tell these families and poeple:

They are in a much better place.
A place where evil cannot harm or rest among them. The Lord has put his hand upon them, and is teaching them how to fly in Heaven above. There, they shall be angels.

Also, each victim is a hero; recognize that.

Here’s some quotes:

“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow” - Anon

“Forget regret, or life is yours to miss.” - Jonathan Larson

“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seamed with scars; martyrs have puton their coronation robes glittering with fire, and through their tears have the sorrowful first seen the gates of Heaven.” -Edwin Hubbell Chapin

“A hero is no bravier than any other man, but he is bravier five minutes longer.”

“Everyone is a hero in their life.”

My deepest condolences don’t seem to be nearly enough. For the hundreds - nay thousands - of lives that were scarred by this, I can only say, “I’m sorry for your loss.”

VT has joined a sad fraternity. It is not a membership they have sought, yet regrettably they have become members. I hope those touched by this can find the means to heal.

To paraphrase David Crosby of Crosby, Stills & Nash, “Thirty-two! Why? How many more!”

Virginia Tech and Blacksburg,
You are in our family’s hearts and prayers constantly!  We spent a year getting to know the people of Blacksburg and Virginia Tech when we worked with your horse vaulting team “Mt. Tabor” a few years ago.  We were so impressed with your community and VT. The school was beautiful and you always made us feel welcome like we were part of your family because you shared your Hokie Pride with us. We are praying that your community can find peace again and please know that the whole country is feeling your pain with you. May God give you comfort.

I would like to tell all of you at Virginia Tech that I was deeply saddened by the tragedy that occurred on Monday morning. I myself am a college student and would like to reach out to all of you and let you know you are all in my prayers, not only mine, but our entire campus has been praying for you. I watched the convocation on television and was deeply moved by the unity everyone showed. I pray that these tough times will pass and that all of you would be drawn closer to God in the wake of this tragedy.
As I walked on campus today there were a few people wearing the VT colors, me being one of them...people were inquiring about it and many more have expressed interest in sporting the colors in the days to come!
You are all in our prayers...take care and God bless you all!! We love you and support you!!

Know that there are those of us here in West Michigan who are praying for you and for the spirits of the students who lost their lives in this tragic event.  Life is short enough as it is, but when our young people are taken from us in the prime of their lives in a place of learning and somewhere that you feel safe......that is what makes this event so troubling.  May whatever form of the DIVINE you worship bring you comfort in this time of loss.  Candles are lit for all of you this night.  My heartfelt blessings upon you all.

"Today we are all Hokies”,

To the precious heroes who have fallen: we lift up your names, lives and spirits in praise.  You are now angels; safe, free, happy and deeply celebrated, for all of eternity.  We, on this side of Heaven, thank you for the innocent lives you have lived, and vow to celebrate your spirits in good nature.

To the families & friends of the angels: this world sends nothing but prayers your way.  You may feel as if your pain will never end, in dealing with your precious loss, but know that your hurt and sorrow is the nation’s hurt and sorrow as well.  Our prayers will be sent unto you everlastingly.

To the VTech community: YOU ARE HOKIES! And, “Hokies” now carry a new and profound definition.  Hokies are- strong, courageous, loving, close-knit, intelligent, giving, supportive, powerful, prideful, caring, and above all ToGeTheR.  YOU ARE HOKIES! And, Hokies will rise, they will rise, they will rise!! God Bless you all.
