What a tragic loss we’ve all suffered, especially the families of the students and faculty of those injured or lost in this senseless crime. We all need to reflect on each day and live it with pride and joy.  Cherish the memories of those lost and hold on to the hopes for a better tomorrow. I will keep you all in my prayers. Although I’ve only been back to Blacksburg once since graduating in 1982, I can’t begin to express my sympathies and sadness upon hearing the continuing story of this week’s horror.  I also represent the Universities of Iowa and Florida and I know every Hawkeye and Gator share our pain and sorrow and give their support.  Va. Tech opened many doors to my future and I’ll always be proud to be a Hokie.  Please know that all of us far and wide are still part of the Hokie family.  Kenneth A. Marx B.S. Psychology, Minor Biology, 1982.

The sun rises

indisputable pain
unquenchable anguish
affliction felt by all

And yet eyes watch as the snow falls silently

lives torn apart
hearts ripped to shreds
eyes swollen with tears

But still the bird flits in the breeze

strong hands now weak
bright smiles now dampened
bubbling laughter now silent cries

And yet they watch as a blossom spreads

when the strong become as the weak
when enemies become companions
when children comfort adults

Still tears tumble to the ground like rain

forlorn eyes in search for hope
trembling hands in search for strength
crushed hearts in search for answers

Yet pain tortures the throbbing soul

lives once lived
people once breathing
now remembered with fervent love

Still reality seems miles away

memories of friends
treasures of the heart
smiles that dance in the mind

And the sun sets

May God bless you and keep you, and may the prayers of the nation comfort you as much as they can. The prayers and thoughts of many here at the University of Indianapolis are with you. God Bless Virginia Tech and its Hokies.

We are so limited by words at a time like this.

Each time Dave and I pray, we find our hearts and words going out to the hurting families and all those who work at VT.

The Hokie pride is very evident on all the news
reports - thank you for standing up and being there for each other.

I have spent a significant amount of time on the Tech campus over the years, and of all the places in the world for such a tragedy to happen, I am truly shocked and in disbelief that this happened in such a serene, supportive, and caring environment. The VA Tech community is in my own thoughts and prayers, as well as those of our community, state, country, and the rest of the world. The Blacksburg community has truly handled this tragedy with remarkable dignity and strength. Hopefully, the world may learn a lesson from this tragedy, as well as the attitude of those affected in its aftermath. Bless you all.

My heart feels broken for your loss and my mind can not comprehend such a senseless act. But, I want you to know that people all over the world are sending their sympathies. A friend from Scotland called Monday to say she was devastated by the news and wanted us to know she was thinking of all the folks at Tech. She only visited Blacksburg once for a couple days while I was in grad school, yet knew how special a place it is from that brief visit. We send our deepest sympathies to all affected by this tragedy.

My fellow Hokies,

A group of us Hokie alumni were returning from a wedding trip Monday when we caught a glance of this nightmare… that same sick and angry feeling I felt as I awoke in my dorm room back on 9/11/01 overcame me.  The five of us huddled around the Atlanta airport TV, I never watched the live video.

Instead I watched the people… some gasping, others crying.  One lady approached us (as usual, we were sporting VT logos), she expressed her grief and regret for what had happened to our university.

Again and again, our hokie family has been recognized for its response, courage, community and it has lifted me.  I thank the millions who have helped me and others who have grieved.  I thank the good nature of this website and the people behind each and every message.

Our Wahoo hearts are breaking. I wish I could take away all the pain everyone affected by the tradgedy is feeling.

I find it amazing that one horrible person is able to bring out all this caring & compassion in millions of other people. People sharing their sorrow, love and prayers, it’s amazing how much more good there is in the world than bad. I think the positive is what we need to focus on here and band together to make the world a safer, better place for the future.

God bless all of you in this tragedy.  Even though jobs have brought us to Georgia, our hearts will always be in Virginia, where my husband, myself and both children were born and raised.  VT will always be our favorite school, and we’re saddened for all of you.  Remember that this is a great place to live and have the chance to study.

Our love and prayers to everyone.

As a parent of two college students, this event has really rattled me. It makes a parent want to get their kids and bring them home. But they do best when with friends to share thoughts, hugs, etc. I have prayed for the entire VT family and for college students and families all over the country. They are all hurting. May God bless all of you and give you the strenth to endure.

I pray the peace and comfort from our Lord Jesus Christ is with the family and friends of all of the students that were killed and injured on April 16. I pray that blessings flood their lives and that they are able cope. There are no words that could ever comfort them, only our Lord.  Let us not forget to pray for the parents and family of the killer. They not only have to deal with the suicide of their son, but also the death of the precious lives that their son took away. They are suffering with unimaginable fear and guilt and need all of our prayers as well.
