Condolences, April 18, 2007

Buddhism says that life is pain, and this is true today. Let us hope to get the balance back - the joy to counterbalance this pain. Let us hope that we can forgive even the most evil and violent of minds. Let us hope that the seed of love will find its way into every human heart. Let us hope that seed can blossom.

Regardless of the final, hopeless words from someone who had given up everything but hate and blame, there is NOTHING that can justify a horrific event like this. The strength within your community is beautiful and amazing, even as the hole in your hearts is still wide and healing.  Bless you all with love and strength in these desolate days. And the deepest of condolences to those who lost someone in this tragedy. They are not gone if you remember why you loved them. Do not give up that hope.

With sincere love across any distance and to every person, emay.

This event has sent shockwaves rolling across university campuses across the country that will surely resonate for some time. To see such an act perpetrated in an environment intended to foster intellectual and personal growth is unthinkable. I feel your pain and words cannot express its depth. I send condolences and the sincerest of sympathies from the Sooner Nation. May the memory of all who passed live on forever.

Dear VT Students, Staff, Families & Friends,

Where do I begin to express my condolences?  Even though I have never met any of the people affected by this horrible tragedy, it saddens my heart to hear that so many innocent men and women lost their lives.  As a parent of two children I could not even to begin to imagine what the families must be feeling.  On Tuesday, April 17, 2007 I sat glued to my TV watching the news.  Each time a victims name was told, I thought about that family and tears began streaming down my face.  Know that you are not feeling this sadness alone.  Everyone is feeling the sadness with you.  The days ahead will be the most trying times for your school as a whole.  But from what I have heard, YOU ARE VIRGINIA TECH and you will survive.  Even though I never knew much about your college until now, I will forever be a “HOAKIE”.  My thoughts and prayers go out to each one affected by the senseless acts.  God Bless you all,

Billie Tichy, Zachary Tichy (13), Caitlin Tichy (6) and Shawn Wilkins

VT students, faculty, and community. I’m truly sorry that you guys have to go through this. I’m a highschool student at Rossview High in Clarksville Tennessee, I can never imagine something this terrible happening at my school. Just to think that you guys had to endure that makes me sick. Cho is nothing but the Devil. He’s gone now. But so are so many inocent lives. The people that lost their lives on Monday were fantstic, honorable, and great people. Even though I didn’t know any of them, I now ya’ll did. I’m so sorry. Remember they are in a better place right now. They are with Jesus in Heaven where they walk streets of gold and feel no pain.

As fantastic lives are lost, those that are being born will live with and through VT students, and faculty that lost their lives that tragic day.

My thoughts and prayers are with every single one of you.

My husband and I are parents of a 20 year old junior at University of Oregon. We are all just sickened by what has happened to you all. We lost a dear family member to a drive-by shooting 3 years ago, he was nearly 21 and had a future in engineering. We have some idea of the trauma and devastation you are going through and our hearts are so with you all.

Our deepest thoughts and sympathies are with each and every one of you and your families.
