As a proud Wahoo, I’ve long responded to those who said they attended Tech or had family members there, “I’m sorry.” For the first time in my life, I really mean it.  May the healing that clearly began at the Tuesday convocation continue and reach to all corners of the Hokie community.

There are no words to express the deep sense of sorrow in such a time of overwhelmingly senseless loss. God be with all the loved ones of the victims- the entire nation is grieving with you. You are in our prayers.

Footprints in the Sand
by Mary Stevenson

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was
walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the
sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. “Lord, You said that once I decided to follow you, You’d walk with me all
the way. But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.” The Lord replied, “My son, My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I Carried You.”

To the Hokie community:
People say time heals all wounds. This is true of physical wounds. The love around you all will help the emotional wounds. Wounds leave scars that serve as a reminder. These emotional and physical scars will ensure that no one forget. I know there is no amount of words that can ever make things right but just maybe they will help ease the pain you all feel. I hope you all know that you are not alone. The entire world is sending you their thoughts and prayers. Live each day to it’s fullest and tell everyone around you how much they mean to you today because we don’t know what the next day may hold for us. I hope that this tragedy does not affect anyone’s decision to go to Tech because it is a wonderful school and I plan to join you all in the fall of ‘08 at the vet school. God bless you all and may this tragedy bring you all closer together.

If I Had Only Known

If I had only known
It was our last walk in the rain
I’d keep you out for hours in the storm
I would hold your hand
Like a lifeline to my heart
Underneath the thunder we’d be warm
If I had only known
It was our last walk in the rain

If I had only known
I’d never hear your voice again
I’d memorize each thing you ever said
And on those lonely nights
I could think of them once more
Keep your words alive inside my head
If I had only known
I’d never hear your voice again

You were the treasure in my hand
You were the one who always stood beside me
So unaware I foolishly believed
That you would always be there
But then there came a day
And I turned my head and you slipped away

If I had only known
It was my last night by your side
I’d pray a miracle would stop the dawn
And when you’d smile at me
I would look into your eyes
And make sure you knew my love
For you goes on and on
If I had only known

It is easy to see that Virginia Tech and that the students are indeed a Virginia Tech family.
What a tragedy that those students were killed needlessly. Our prayers and prayers from all over the world are with the students, parents and faculty. Hopefully we will have laws which will help prevent future incidents like this throughout our communities.  GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

What can someone really say at a time like this? How can someone who has lost a child or a brother or a sister or a friend be comforted? The entire nation—the whole world, in fact—has seen Hokie spirit in the stories of those who lost their lives and in the community that mourns them. Hope lies in the realization that even though we have lost 32 wonderful people who can never be replaced, thousands of bright and talented young people remain to carry on their memory and to make not just Virginia Tech, but our entire state and nation proud. God bless you all.

From a mom of a college student in MD. My family and I send our thoughts and prayers to all those affected by the tragic event at Va. Tech.
Although you may not see them,
you are always in their sight.

They bring the gift of love and guidance,
it is called the “Angel Light”.

You know they always hear you,
to them your voice is dear.

With the comfort that they bring to you,
You need not ever fear.

So here’s a place for (For all those lost)to come,
to do with angels what must be done!

To make our world whole and bright
and share with all, the (Angel Light)

May the lord be with each and everyone of you.
