To the Virginia Tech Family,
The sad and tragic events of Monday will never be forgotten. Each person that was on the Campus that day will relive those hours of confusion and fear over and over. Especially those who were in the buildings where the shootings took place. The friends and families of the victims will keep wondering why. Meanwhile, I and most of the world are praying for you, in our own ways. Though I am Christian, I have found a great strength and comfort in this very simple prayer found on the wall of a Jewish prisoner’s cell after WWII, a person going through the absolute worst of times. I hope you also find strength and hope in it.

I believe in the sun, even when it is not shining.
I believe in love, even when I cannot feel it.
I believe in God, even when He is silent.

It must have seemed as if God was silent on Monday, but He wasn’t. He was weeping with you, and still is. May you soon feel His love again and know His love surrounds you.

that was a horrible incident that should have never happned just because some lonely kid had no friends does not mean to go into a school and shoot over 50 people and himself. let us pray for all of those who were lost in this tragic and very sad incident

April 18, 2007, 8:03pm • Maryland • #21767

I am personally deeply saddened. We cannot ask why. But we can ask how. May all those who mourn friends and family receive strength and courage to bear this irreparable colossal loss. May the rest find same to support them. May we all learn something of life and seek more to help hurting people around us.
May this incident never be repeated ever in the great U.S. and on the surface of the earth. Amen.

Here at the University of Florida we are all mourning and praying for your strength during this tragic time.  You are in our thoughts and prayers and though we can in no way understand the pain and sorrow you are experiencing at this time, we are grieving for your losses and thinking about everyone at Virginia Tech.  The University of Florida is having a candlelight vigil tonight in remembrance of those who lost their lives.  Take care. From the home of the Big House to members of the Hokie Nation:

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.  As you find your way through the darkness of the coming days and weeks, seize the moments of light which are already starting to glimmer:  you truly have a remarkable administration and community.  Those who have been lost will forever be a part of that community.  I just watched the video of Nikki Giovanni’s remarks at the convocation yesterday; it brought tears to my eyes. Remember that you ARE Virginia Tech and you WILL prevail!

I cannot imagine your pain that you all feel at this time. You are in my thoughts and prayer. This could have happened anywhere, even at my campus where I work. We may never know why this happened but we can work together to prevent it from happening again and come together to build a better future and remember those no longer here. May time bring you peace and comfort.

To the families and friends who have suffered such great loss let not your hearts be troubled. Your losses are great but greater is he that lives in us than he that lives in the world. These things here on earth will soon pass away but our Lord is forever.

This is why your lives and theirs had to be about more than what we can see and do here on this earth. For if their lives held no worth except for when they breathed life here on earth with the living your grief and pain would be short. You would forget their faces and memories just as quickly as they departed. Their lives and yours would be in vain. But they meant so much more in life and even after death.

Your loved ones are in perfect hands now. And they are sleeping soundly in his care until we should meet them again. So hug your mother tightly, tell your enemy you have cast the last stone because this day is new and your enemy mourns with you. Be bold and have courage to face a new day with the strength to carry on with a promise

that God will never leave nor forsake his people. Have faith my brothers and sisters until I see you in heaven our world and theirs must be apart for just a bit longer and then we will see them again.
but not yet
not yet.
