Dear Students, Faculty, and most importantly Friends and Family,

As a member of the U.S Army Family I share in your loss. Recently we lost a member of our family to the war in Iraq. As the wife of that soldiers brother whom is also a soldier himself I can deeply say that I know what it is like to lose so many loved ones. I feel so badly for you all and pray that you are all alright. My words of wisdom are only that you dont cry in pain for your loved one but remember and hold those happy memories you have of them close to your heart.  It is sad to know that our soldiers are fighting for freedom over there yet have to also take in the sad reality of what goes on back at their homes. They will forever be in my heart and prayers. I can honestly say SGT Jonathan P.C. Kingman and the other fallen soldiers are being joined by your friends and families in heaven and they are in such a wonderful place. Just remember when our time comes we will be able to join them in eternal happiness.

Virginia Tech is an amazing place, one of the most beautiful on Earth.  God is obviously there and He is will be with all of you in your mourning.  When you think of April 16th, think not of the horrible tragedy, but commemorate the lives of the deceased and be strengthened.  God bless Blacksburg and God Bless VT.

How this reminds us all of how precious and fragile life is ... reminds us how important it is to spend time with our friends and family members and cherish them while they are here. We must remember these memories when they leave us. All of us have a time, it’s just a matter of when. It is easy to forget that as we hustle and bustle through life ... studying for the next test ... getting caught up in our plans for our life. Let us never forget what truly matters in this lifetime. As a college student I also have put so much time and care into earning a degree, but at times like these I remember that long after we are gone, it is not the degree that leaves the lasting impression, but the positive relationships, impact, and love born in the process. Love lives on forever and we must continue to hope and believe it not only still exists, but is even more evident in the wake of tragedy when people draw together for support and rememberance. We saw this when the storm hit this community and we see it in you all.May the Lord bless you all with a peace that surpasses all understanding. Lamentations 3:22-26

This a poem My son wrote that i helped with. We wanted to share it with you.

That Tragic Monday

The Virginia Tech massacre was one awful day. When the students and Professors suffered on that tragic monday. The student who did this made himself pay,by hurting himself on that monday.
The parents were hoping and praying that there children were safe, and that they were not near that awful place.
There were many lives taken and so many mourn, didn’t he realize all those lives he had taken were precious when they were born.
When they knew he was troubled a few weeks ago, couldn’t someone stop him from coming through Virginia techs door.
Right know for Virginia Tech the world has seem to come to an end, however with time and precious memories all hearts will mend.

When I got home from school on monday my grandma came upstairs and told me there was a shooting on the VT campus and I was so scared for every1.
I’m praying every day and night before school and bed for the families and friends of the victim. I’m 12 years old and my best friends cousin goes to VA tech, he didn’t get shot but he’s in the hospital because he’s so shocked. Today I brought in the Washington Post and the bus driver, my friends, and a lot of 7th and 8th graders wanted to read it. We discussed it Our teachers told her that on friday we’re all asked to wear Tech shirts if we have them and 5 so we’re all going to wear the VT colers.

I just can’t believe that someone could be so deranged that he took his own personal problems and killed innocent people. What did he think this would solve?

My condolences to everyone affected by this horrible tragedy.

On April 16, the lives of so many bright and talented students and professors were taken away by a lost soul who had no respect for life.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families and friends who lost loved ones that tragic morning.  Each of their innocent lives will not be forgotten by the loving and proud Hokie Nation.  It is my hope that when my time on earth is done, that I can meet my fellow fallen Hokies in Heaven for I know that all of them are with God right now.  God bless every one of them and their families!

Our prayers and thoughts are with the students, facility and families of VT.  While the pain and sorrow will forever be etched in our minds and our hearts will weight heavy with the tragedy that occured. I ask you to take with you the joy of having known such wonderful, talented, energetic, spirited human beings that lives were cut short and for all those who were injured.

As we have learned from this tragedy and past experiences, our words and actions can have an everlasting impact on individuals with troubled souls.  We need to make sure to treat everyone as we would want to be treated.  With kindness and a smile.  We will continue to meet those who are different than us, in one way or another.  But that doesn’t mean they don’t feel and some carry it to another level that impacts communities and sometimes history.

I wish you peace as the days follow.  Remember to celebrate those lives who are gone and for those people who are healing.

I can’t even start to imagine how you all feel, the shock, the horror of the entire situation that seemed like it lasted forever was over in such a short time, so many innocent lives lost and so many people hurt by this mad man without a conscience, how someone can actually take another life just because. I know I cried and watched every single moment of the day to hear about something so horrible happening to people I don’t even know, but in my heart I hurt for each and every single one of you! I pray that in time healing will be easier, may god be with you all. We are all grieving, we will all grieve for a long time, but remember to look at each other and know that you aren’t to blame, no one is to blame but the man who did all of this and he is gone now.  S.L.

The only words I have to offer you are not my own, but the passage from Isaiah 40:29-31.  “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. THEY WILL SOAR ON WINGS LIKE EAGLES; THEY WILL RUN AND NOT GROW WEARY, THEY WILL WALK AND NOT BE FAINT.” Depend on the Lord and the ones He has blessed you with in the wake of this horrible tregedy.  Rest in the knowledge that you will see your lost loved ones in heaven and the rest of us will get to meet them. My thoughts and prayers are with your entire community. Godspeed.

When news of this tragedy came out on the news, I was in total disbelief.  The most bizarre thing is that I live in Portland, OR and when I left to pick up my daughter from school, the car parked on the street in front of me, had a Virginia Tech sticker on the back window.

I can not even begin to express the depth of sorrow I feel for all of you that have lost friends, sisters, daughters, mothers, sons, fathers, brothers, etc.  May God give you the strength you need to get through, may he truly bless you with the peace that surpasses all understanding…

The sheer loss of life alone is devastating.  What makes this even more inconceivable is the fact that lives from across the country and the world have been taken in just a matter of minutes.

I keep thinking about my 17 year old son and our recent trip to visit several college campuses.  How much pain must we suffer until we finally stop using guns and other weapons of death and destruction?  I pray for all of the families that have suffered the loss of loved of, or injury to, a loved one. I am also struck by the acts of heroism displayed by such young people.  Thank God we still have people like this.

God bless the whole Virginia Tech community.

Love, Dave

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all.  Let this horrific event be a wake up call for the rights (restricting, that is) of the mentally ill.  Folks, lets take this very seriously.  We are loosing to many people from the outcries of the mentally ill.  The mentally ill aren’t thinking on a rational basis and must be hospitalized and/or controlled.  Don’t set them free to take away young, innocent lives.  They need continuous, life long, monitoring, counseling, and medication.  As you well know, there is no cure for mental illness.  Let others know of your concerns of the mentally ill.  Again, our prayers are with you.

In this world of good and evil, many times we experience evil in great magnitude. But our discipline of faith in God which triumphs over ALL evil even when we cannot see or feel it in the mist.

God be with the students and faculty who lost their lives and the ones who remain to never forget but to forgive our sins on one another.

Dear VT Students, Faculty and Parents:
I cannot imagine what you are going through. I have 2 daughters that are my life and as a parent I never want to go through what these parents are going through. Just know you had wonderful children and we have been able to read about them and I know that parents like you made them the children I wish mine would grow up to be like.
The victims were someones friend, sister, brother, student, aunt, uncle, mother, father and spouse. My heart aches for your loss.
