To the entire Virginia Tech community,

Not an hour goes by that I don’t think about what happened Monday and become saddened. Being a college student, I know how important school pride and a feeling of togetherness on campus is. As horrific as the shootings were, I know that you Hokies will pull together in hope of moving forward. You all are incredibly brave and inspiring and everyone is praying for you and your lost classmates. No one deserves to die like that. My heart goes out to all of you. May this tragedy only make you stronger and more courageous.

God bless,

What happened on Monday woke the nation up. We realized the reality of life. We realized the truth of the human heart. And we realized the deathly cost of the innocent.

Sons, daughters, friends, and family were taken as a price of one man’s insanity. Souls and futures were ripped out of the hands of those who deserved them most. Tears were shed, and spirits fell. Nightmares were created, and people lost hope.

I pray that those who lost the most are re-paid for this haste awakening.
I pray that those who witness it are able to forget the horrors of those hours.
I pray that words weren’t left unsaid, moments weren’t left undone, and hearts weren’t left untouched.
I pray that those that passed are looking down on thier loved ones with nothing but love in thier eyes.

Rest in Peace. You will never be forgotten.

As a parent of a college-aged child at a major university in NC, I tried to imagine the horror of the parents, faculty, and students at Virginia Tech.  It is so tragic when we lose anyone in our lives.  This is especially true when it is a loss of someone just beginning their life.  May God bless all of those who are grieving and those who are tramatized by this awful event.  I am praying for all of you.

April 18, 2007, 7:29pm • Burlington, NC • #21116

Words cannot express just horrible this event was.  I am so sorry that you had to experience such fear and horror.  As a mother, I would hate to know that my child had to go through something like this without me being there to protect them.

You have all been so very strong.  You have represented your school and the state of Virginia with the utmost class.  I would be proud to send my son to Va Tech!!!!

You have my deepest sympathy and my prayers.

Best wishes for a brighter tomorrow,

To the Virginia Tech Community,

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Like a lot of people i am having a hard time comprehending how a tragedy like this can happen and how one person can have such disregard for human life. I hope you know that people all over this great nation, and around the world are sharing your grief and pain. We stand together united as one. Do not let this one senseless act stand in your way, you all have tremendous opportunities ahead of you. I know that you the virginia tech community can prevail through this terrible time. We will never forget those that were taken away from us so tragically. Peace and Love and Prayers.

Dear Hokies

The pain that I feel at the loss of Virginia Tech faculty and students is a deep one. However, as I watch the reporting from the campus that has meant so much to me; the students of Virginia Tech are my inspiration. Virginia Tech is a very special place. In the days ahead I will find ways to reach out in support of our Virginia Tech Family. For now, please know that you are in our family’s constant thoughts and our prayers.

For all who feel their hearts torn, I cry. Take the most out of your lives for those who didn’t get a chance. Dream and strive for them. I didn’t know any of them, but I know I will. For those because of whom I cry.

I come from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus, the one so often compared to VT because of their feel, atmosphere, people. It could have been us. I thank all of the gods for the life I have and I cry and mourn for those taken away.

Monday was more than a sad day, it was a day where our brightest gems were taken from us, but Monday does not have to become blackened by sorrow, ridden with sadness, or remembered for mayhem, yet it should remind us how precious and tender humanity is.  I don’t know why some greater being takes so many precious children from us? I wish I had the answer to life’s most tremendous mystery—death…and yet maybe death is here to remind us that while living we are all very fragile, very unique and in the hands of something great and wonderful.  And after all that happens something greater than ourselves does not want us to feel that we are to be broken down with out a celebration for life. Hokies you are that celebration. And perhaps a greater being does want us to feel that:

Dark doesn’t mean despair,
You can rise above…

Anger doesn’t mean anguish,
You can rise above.

Remorse doesn’t mean ruin,
You can rise above…

Chaos doesn’t mean hopelessness…
You are Hokies, you will Rise Above!!

I absolutley love Virginia Tech.Ive always thought of it as a really good school. It was a very overwhelming tragedy to see so many innocent people lose their lives. Its just unreal.I feel for all the parents and friends for their unfortionate losses.I dont exactly know the whole story it keeps changing on the news, but i do know that it was wrong.nobody deserves to lose their life for no reason, then he took his own life. This unfortionate time has actually scared me,i am afraid to go to school.I hope that this will teach schools to be a bit more safe and prepared for the unexpected.I will deffanitly pray for all of you.ALL MY LOVE BRITTANY HEDGES.

These are sad times, skies are gray.
Someone took the sun away,
The joyous hearts forever stilled.
Is this the sentence God has willed?

Was it only yesterday
We heard them laugh that special way?
But know the hurt we’re feeling now
Must start to end someway, somehow.

And if they could, they’d say aloud:
Grieve for us but make us proud.
And please don’t stay forever blue,
Don’t let the hatred kill you too.

They made our world a better place
And though we’ll miss that smiling face,
We must get through the hurt and pain
And learn to laugh and love again.

God Bless Virginia Tech
And God Bless America

As a parent, college student, and fellow American: My heart and prayers really go out to you. God has a way to heal hearts when we allow Him into ours. Open your hearts to Him and He’ll heal it. I can’t imagine what you are going thru, but I know you’ll all overcome this. My biggest prayer is the people around the world put more press and interest into the victims than this sick gunman. You are an example of a wonderful community we all can learn from. RISE ABOVE THIS AND SOAR! GOD BLESS YOU VT!!!!!!!!

At the rising of the sun and at its going down,
We remember them.

At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of Winter, We remember them.

At the opening of buds and in the rebirth of Spring,
We remember them.

At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of Summer,
We remember them.

At the rustling of leaves and the beauty of Autumn,
We remember them.

At the beginning of the year and when it ends,
We remember them.

As long as we live, they too will live;
for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.

When we are weary and in need of strength,
We remember them.

When we are lost and sick at heart,
We remember them.

When we have joys we yearn to share,
We remember them.

When we have decisions that are difficult to make,
We remember them

When we have achievements that are based on theirs,
We remember them.

As long as we live, they too shall live,
for they are a part of us, as we remember them

Students, faculty, and family,
I am both saddened and inspired by the recent tragic events. It is not the gunman that remains in my mind, but the numerous heroes who bravely displayed their courage in the face of tragedy and saved lives. It is these people who restore my faith in our country and make me proud to be an American.
God Bless You All,
