Dear students,families,faculty of Virginia Tech,
My heart aches for the people who were killed, injured, and the people who witnessed the violent acts that took place on Monday. I have a daughter who is a freshman at Millersville University and as a parent I just can’t imagine the pain that you are know going thru. Remember the lost as they were, not as symbols of loss and the horror of that day. Pray for the family of the shooter, I don’t know how I could handle the fact that my child did such a unspeakable act.I wish I could hug each and everyone one of you,I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers, and pray that you find the strength to move on and heal.God Bless, Cindy Arnold

From one university student to the whole population at Virgina Tech, my heart is with you.  Innocent people should not be subject such violence.  And a school should be a place of sanction.  My thoughts are with you and I know that you are all strong enough to overcome this tragedy.

To all Students, Faculty, Alumni and Friends of Virgina Tech.

Words of course cannot express the sorrow we all feel throughout the country. I was near the North Tower of the WTC on 9-11 and literally ran for my life that day. Please know all of New York City is praying for you. When all of the media leaves and life get’s back ot “normal” I urge you to please do not be afraid to reach out and seek guidance, support and help from the emotional supporting foundation that is being built for you as a result of this unspeakable tragedy.

We would like to take all of you in our arms and with a loving hug ease the pain you and your community and so many families across the nation are enduring as a result of Monday’s tragedy.  So many talented individuals were taken at one time but our heavens are all the richer.  God needed help in bringing peace back to this world of ours, now in so much turmoil.  He picked from the very best...there’s a phrase in Spanish that states..."Dios se sirve de lo bueno para ayudar en su mission” “God takes the good ones to help in his mission.” He now has an awesome team to help with his mission.  To the family of the Professor who protected his students with his own body and life...that is what being an “educator” is all proudly for he died honorably and has set an example for many educators to come.
May God wrap you in his warm embrace and give you comfort throughout this time.

As a fellow student, mother, and teacher, I would like to send my deepest condolences to all those touched by this event. Unless we have experienced it first hand, there is no way we can understand the loss and despair felt by the family and friends of the victims. I pray that through it all there may be a glimmer of light in the darkness. I pray that glimmer can be seen through the faith and the love that stretches literally around the world, as people everywhere in every land, grieve with those left behind. May God’s comfort and grace sustain you in this time.
I pray too for the family of the gunman.  This was not the dream they upheld for their young son. Their devistation must be so incredibly difficult to bear as well.
God’s peace to you all.

To the students, teachers and staff at VT.
Hold your heads up high, come together and be strong. You all share something that not alot of people will understand, use this and benefit from it. Smile and laugh. Live your lives to the fullest on the behalf of those who have missed their oppurtunity. They would much rather you continued their memory in love, laughter and fun as they would of done.
Once again, be strong the worlds thoughts and prayers are with you. But only you can continue in their memory

We are all very shocked here in the UK to hear about the tragic events in your campus. Although it is difficult to imagine what you must be going through, we would like you to know that our thoughts are with you all. Never Alone
by Rodney Belcher
I feel you in the morning
When at first I awake
Your thought is with me
With each decision I make

You’d been around forever
Since the first breath I took
Now I have to go on alone
But for love, I need not look

Cause by what you bestowed
In our short time together
Will last in my heart
Forever and ever

Although you’ve left
And now walk above
I’m never alone
I’m wrapped in your love

Enjoy now your long waited reward
Feel peace that your love continues on
What was taught to me, will be taught to mine
Cause you live on in me even after you’ve gone

To all those families and friends that lost a love one…our prayers are with you…hold on…I know it’s hard when one losses a love one…keep it strong and remember all the good memories…we are all with you guys…to all the families and friends that are affected terribly by the tradgedy that occurred on April 16th we will always remember.
This poem is for all the ones that passed on to a better life! KEEP STRONG!
Keep the faith
May God Bless All
You guys will always be in my prayers may God help us all!

This tragedy has scarred the lives of so many people.  Very like so many who endure other tragedies, described so eloquently by Nikki Giovanni.  [Thanks for posting the transcript; I was looking for it!]

She spoke of how pain can be resolved and/or accepted, creating new wisdom and energy and increasing the capacity for productivity.  I was quite moved when I watched the live telecast.

A significant feature of this event is its unexpectedness.  Nevertheless, I thought of how our servicemen [I am a US citizen living in New Zealand] and innocent civilians in Iraq and elsewhere are terrorized and hideously murdered every day.  The families of these victims are as sorrowful as those of VT victims.  Likewise those who survive & who witnessed the carnage.

I thought of the perpetrator and others like him.  These kinds of events perpetuate themselves because the horror seared into the psyche of victims warps personalities, values, perceptions.  I wonder what happened to the gunman in his life that surely made him suffer too.  Are there other sons and daughters in that family?  What are the parents like?  What happened to all of them in Korea?

April 18, 2007, 7:14pm • Wellington, New Zealand • #20837

Please know that you are in my prayers and those of my family.

I traveled to your beautiful campus many times to visit Hokie friends while I was in college at UNC-CH. Just as you, I never believed that such a horrible event could occur there.

God bless you all as you try to move forward from this.

We will keep all victims in our thoughts and prayers.  This was a very senseless and horrendous
act.  In times like this, keep your family and friends close and your children even closer.  May time heal and God’s speed.

In hard times we must not lose our faith and forget our purpose in life. We must be strong and not fall victim to the evil that may arise out of an event such as this. This is the time to stand together. Not only as an affected community, but a nation that refuses to let this tragedy be forgotten or repeated. I send my prayer and condolences to all those affected by this horrific tragedy. We must keep our faith in God and look onto him for reassurance.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the students and faculty of Virginia Tech and their family and friends. It is in times like these that we as Americans must join together in support of our fellows brothers and sisters in Christ. It is with a very heavy heart that I write these words to you.  I would like to share some word with you that have helped me through many trials.  They are the words of Joshua 1:9 which says, “Be strong and take courage. Do not fear or be dismayed for the Lord will go before you and His light will show the way.” May we all be a light for you in the coming months as you begin to assemble the pieced of your lives back together.  May God bless you all.
