Condolences, April 18, 2007

my heart mourns for your losses.
somewhere in between birth and beautiful and broken, they lived to their fullest.  weep, in memory, and love the memories made.
peace to you all, may God grant you comfort.
if only our tears could bring them back to life.

My prayers go out to everyone at Virginia Tech, the victims, and the families. I lost my home, practically my life in Hurricane Katrina. I know how it feels to be completely caught off guard and have your life turned around. Today, here at Southeastern Louisiana University, we had a vigil for y’all. As our President stated, “Remain strong, Hokies.” We love you, and our prayers are with you all. God bless.

The ability to articulate all that I feel is unfortunately a task that is too challenging for me.

I cannot imagine what the families and loved ones of the people who are going through such personal tragedy must be feeling.

You have my condolences and my family’s.

God be with you, as I am sure that he is with the victims who have passed away so tragically.

In Remembrance Of…

I shed a tear for you today mainly for the way you died
I shared a smile also for God is on your side
So young, so innocent, so full of life
All cut to short by a man so full of strife
We remember your smile as big as your heart
Sitting quietly as you study your art
Dance, Music and Biology to
Although you’re at rest, we’ll never forget you
So proudly wave your wings little angel of the sky
For you remain the sparkle and the apple of my eye

There are no words to express the sadness we feel. Virginia is my home state, my sister is a Hokie grad and stood on that very drill field holding a candle on 9/11. Our entire family adopted VT as our own during her time there and has never let it go. I may be a Tarheel now, but first and forever a Hokie.

We stand with you and have never been more proud. Stay strong.

I am shocked and saddened by the tragedy that struck VA Tech campus on Monday.  Watching the convocation ceremony and the vigil brought tears as well as solace that the VT community across the nation is sharing the grief. My heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones.  They are in my thoughts and prayers.

I know the VA Tech community has the fortitude to come through these difficult times and come out even stronger and more resolute to be true to our motto - Ut Prosim.  After all, we are the Hokies!

I have been reading and sitting here wondering what to say. There is nothing to say to bring them back. If there was, it would be expressed a million times over. I try to imagine your pain, but yet I cannot. I have never had this kind of violent sorrow in my life. I am sending a daughter off to college this fall, my fear is extreme at this moment for her, but we cannot let this deter our children from living. From what I have seen and read all of these children and aldults loved life. It needs to be lived to the fullest for all of those lost. Monday I called her at work, just to make sure she was ok. I am so sorry for your loss and your pain. LB
