While I can not possibly understand what everyone there is feeling - both students & family - my heart hurts for you all.

The interviews that I have seen with surviving students & professors give me hope.  What an amazing & upstanding group of people you all are!!  While one person did this horrible damage to your school, and to all the human race, not only the survivors give us hope, but the incredible stories of heroics that took place - both by students and teachers during those terrifying moments.

I am so proud of everyone at Virginia Tech - and wish to extend my deepest, and most heartfelt sympathies to those who have lost friends, family, and professors they cared about, as well as to the families who lost loved ones.  You all have a right to hold your heads high, you behaved & continue to behave with class, dignity and honour in a most un-honourable, undignified and completely classless situation!

May you continue to succeed, and have hope, and do all you can to honour the fallen.

Dear Faculty and Students at Virginia Tech,
As a very recent alumna (Spring 2006) of Virginia Tech, I am shocked that anything of this magnitude of crime could ever happen in the quiet and darling country town that I called my home for 4 years, through undergraduate and graduate school. No words could truly express all of the feelings of grief and sorrow that all of us Hokies are feeling at this moment. In the words of our professor and reknowned poet Nikki Giovanni, “We are strong enough to know when to cry and sad enough to know we must laugh again.” These words ring true to us today, as we know that the path to recovery and normalcy will be a long one, but we know that we have friends, family, and fellow Hokies there to hold our hands along the way.
As a native resident of northern Virginia and a teacher at Centreville High School, it has also been a challenge conveying the grief that I feel with my students, especially upon learning that some of them were well-acquainted with some of the victims at Virginia Tech. You will never be forgotten.

Once a Hokie, always a Hokie.
My heart is in Blacksburg.

Sending my most profound thoughts and hopes for healing and wellness....  I’m from the other side of the country, but I hurt for you, with you over your loss.  I so deeply wish I could offer words of wisdom or a healing hug...but I know, that at this moment, it won’t help a lot.  As a person who has gone through a tragic loss of some size (10 funerals in 2 days), I am here to say that this will pass. You will never forget, never be the same, but you all are experiencing the love and support of the world.  Embrace it, this is a rare opportunity.  Someday, you will look back and feel blessed to have known those that were lost and honored to have been part of a strong community built on love and support.  I now feel fond of that experience and it is a part of my everyday life now...and I’m a better person for it.  You will survive and you will rise above this, I promise.

I am orginally form Va and when i heard the news I rushed to the phone to contact all my friends to make sure they were ok.  I just hope that now schools (open campuses) will take into accout the dangers that campus do face.  I am not suggesting to put up a berlin wall around campus, but i am hopeing that staff will look closer at the sign of troubled students and follow up on their progress.  Parents send their kids to school thinking they will be safe, and now schools need to make the extra effort to ensure that they will be.

I don’t have clever words or even soothing ones. I’m not even convinced the right words exist. I know, however, that if a tragedy happened at any campus where I worked, I would want to hear others give what words of comfort they could.

The entire Virginia Tech community is in my thoughts and prayers for strength and hope during these trying times.

It’s devastating to hear and see such a horrific tragedy like this happen.  American’s then see how life is so special in living and breathing.  My heart goes out to the family, freinds, students, and faculty at your University. I feel the sorrow you guys feel and have to live through; and the bad part of it is that when a year and years go by we will remember what we were doing when it all happened that moment.

to the victims, friends and family of the tragedy of Virginia Tech.
As a student of Dawson College, i understand your fear, your feeling of loss and despair. Please have hope,
and all i can say is that with time it will be better.
My heart goes out to everyone, and i have pity the foolish perpetrator. There is no reason why we have to resort to this kind of violence.  It is so wrong and i believe in stricter gun control, and the same way Dawson College reacted after our school shooting, i know virginia tech students will help each other out.
Dont be afraid to seek help.
Sunny days will come, and i pray for everyone involved in this tragedy. Please don’t despair.

Most people will not be able to bear the emotional trauma until days, weeks, or months pass; as our bodies try to react normally to abnormal distress we remember.

While you’re praying, think about petitioning your Congressman to ban handguns and strictly control possession and sale of all firearms.

dear Faculty, staff, and Students,

I am very horrified at the increase of violence in our schools. I go to a public middle school in Williamsburg. Today we had a lock-down. A week ago, another middle school in our district received two bomb threats. A gun was seized from a local High school student two weeks ago. The violence in schools has got to stop. We may not understand things like this, but they always happen for a reason. Their is a God out there who cares and its not always him that causes these things.

God Bless,
Kiana C.
