To all the families, students and teachers at Virginia Tech - I am shocked and saddened by the tragedy you are all coming to terms with.  My thoughts are with you all but the memories of your friends/relatives will be treasured forever.  These students were at the start of their life and their lives should not have been cut short.  You are in my prayers.  May they rest in peace. Lots of love Sally Metcalfe.

Words cannot begin to express the amount of love and support I have in my heart for you.  As a college graduate, I know the nurturing enviornment of a college campus and how you call it home.  For it to be violated in such a devistating way in very unnerving.  Yet, it is that same nurturing atmosphere that will help you heal.  My prayers are with you…

VA Tech, as a “townie” in a Western NY college town I am deeply saddened by what has happened in your quiet town, and will now try to pass along your story to those that don’t care.  If it can happen there it can happen anywhere.  Knowing the rich history of VA you WILL over come adversity much like the forefathers of the American Civil War.  Keep the faith and hold your heads proudly high for the injured and fallen.  GO HOKIES!!!!

It hurts so much to know that a place where I spent so many good times could have such a dark day.  Just know that all the alumni are thinking of you, we are an extended family.  I learned that I not only bleed orange and maroon, my tears are orange and maroon as well.  God Bless!

Dear Virgina Tech students, families and faculty,

I just wanted to express how sorry I am. I know you are probably thinking that sorry won’t do much for you as of now, and please forgive me, since right now that’s all I can do.
I live in Canada, and when I heard about the tragedy, I just went blank. It’s horrible how now schools need to have drills for things like this.
Your school is in my prayers, along with the suffering families and friends.
On Friday, I will be proudly wearing Hokie colours.
God Bless you all.

My son is a senior at VT and will be graduating next month.  I am so grateful and thankful that he was not in the line of fire and I can share “tomorrow” with him.  He knew two of the student fatalities and is very saddened by their deaths, along with the other students and faculty member fatalities.

I task all parents around the world to give more hugs and “I love you” to your children, as we have no promise of tomorrow.

I ask that all surviving students at VT consider the potential future lives of their fallen classmates and strive to make the world a better place in the name of these VT angels.  Think about what they would have done and contributed in this world and include their value contribution in your future goals and objectives.

The sun will continue to rise and set and the seasons will continue to change, but VT will remain immortal in the minds of a caring world, for VT is a caring community.

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff, Family and Friends:

Although I am not “officially” an Alumni at Va Tech, (I had to transfer for reason’s of finding a program that best fit my business desires), I still feel myself a Hokie. (I went there for two years, 1997 through 1999.) It hit home from first time I heard about this at work on Monday morning and I can’t imagine the feelings of those students, faculty and staff who are currently attending the university. I peel my eyes to every news broadcast and every internet site talking about this horrable tragedy.  As a fellow peer I want to send my deepest condolences to all my fellow Hokies. I am a Hokie at heart and know that all of you, no matter how close each individual was to you, was so touched by this event. I want all of you to, friends, peer, faculty, staff, fellow community members, and all others touched by this event, that I have you in my hearts and prayers. Fellow Hokies, I have confidence that you all will pull together and help each other through. Again, I send you my deepest condolences. Stay strong and support each other. Hold true to what makes the community of Hokies renowned for!!!!

Don’t ask how could this happen. Awful things happen to good people everyday. In this case, the awful thing that the 32 victims had to indure was probably the price to pay seeing as now they’re in a better place. Morning is definitely in order, but let it be a lesson to reach out to ones who cross their arms and touch the hearts of ones that shy away. Maybe we can prevent a future tragedy like this one. The shooter seemed like he was lost. He needed help. He needed prayer? Who prayed for him? Probably no one. Well, I am. Because, the ones who take loved ones want love. I’ll be praying for the victims in cluding the gunman and all of the families and students of VT. God Bless yall.

Dear VT and families of VT,

I can not comprehend what happened on Monday as I’m sure you all still can not.  I graduated from college in 2001 and I think back on that time and if it would/could have happened there and can only imagine what those students went through.  I have cried many tears along with VT and I can say with all certainty that on Monday, along with the nation, I became a Hokie as well.  God bless you all, God bless the injured and slain and their families and GOD BLESS VIRGINIA TECH.  You are in my thoughts and Prayers.

This crime was extremely senseless and I want to express my sympathy to both the victim’s and the gunman’s families; they are having to endure so much suffering and pain as they deal with the unfortunate deaths of their loved ones.  My thoughts and prayers also go out to the entire VA Tech family.  I am truly impressed at the manner in which they seem to be pulled together.

Ryan Clark has family in my community and while I did not know him or the family, I was impressed at what an outstanding person he was.

I will keep everyone in prayer.

I am a working mother of three, two teens and one young adult.  I cant imagine if one of my children had been at Va. Tech. on that horrible day.  My heart goes out to everyone, especially the mothers.  I cannot, and will not, imagine losing one of my children, may God be with all of you mothers, and may He comfort you in this time when comfort must seem impossible.  You are all in my prayers.  God be with you all.

Through this horrific tragedy I applaud the students and faculty of Virginia tech for teaching the world about family, love, and unity through their HOKIE Sprit!  It is you, the students and faculty who remind all of us what the focus should be-the victims, the families of the victims, and the enormous spirit of love and unity.  Thank you and God Bless you all!

As the mother of a son @UMD I cannot even fathom the sense of loss.  I pray that these young and promising people did not die in vain.  I hope this tragedy will help our country move forward in reexamining and improving how it deals with emergency responces, mental health crises interventions, and gun laws.  May God comfort the students and families affected by this.

Oh wow. I didn’t hear about this until I got back from school. Even though it is in the United States, for some reason, I felt very close to them. This incident is so heartbreaking and sad. How could this happen?! Why would he do this? He was destroying the people’s dreams and their families! DID HE THINK OF THAT? I’m outraged because why he would do such a thing and sad because so many people died. The story that got to me the most was the professor who stood in front of the gunman and the gunman was shooting at him. The professor was acting like a human shield so the students could get out safely.
