Condolences, April 18, 2007

I wished this would never happen again. Everything you can do is pray and try to be strong. Allow yourself to cry, cry until you can’t cry anymore. Talk about your pain, you have the right to do this.

I wish everyone who is mourning a lot of strenght and God’s help.

To the Students Faculty and Parents of VA Tech,

Hearing about the terrible tragedy that you had to expeience hit close to home for me. I myself is a college student at Columbus State University and this made me realize that anything can happen! I could not help cry when i was the news and pray for all those affect. It is sad that a troubled individual felt that he had to take the lives of so many educated men and women!

My message to you is not to let your pride go, you are still a great institute in the eyes of many americans and people across the world! All across the country have come together and pray in your time of need. I pray that even though this will be a memory that you will have to cherish forever, you will be able to overcome this and continue to be the strong, educated men and women that you are! God Bless you!

Peculiar Person

There are those of us that become loners for various reasons
They avoid company, and they avoid contact seeking peace in that
They live a life of constant silence, a life of constant loneliness
We can not understand for they cut their ties with us before they know us
But they either show us a thing of beauty, a peculiar world that challenges the mind to make sense of it, or take us to the darkest region of their souls

When they die, we wonder about ourselves
We wonder about out lives, our relationships, and our state of minds
And some of us worry that we become that “Peculiar person”
They make us think, they make us question ourselves
And then they make us question just what “Normal” really is….

You don’t know it, and you probably never will
But somewhere deep in your soul, there lays a small place
It plays shelter for that “Peculiar person”
So, embrace them with opens arms and warm hearts
Tell that “Peculiar person” they have a friend in you
For if you don’t, and choose to shun them, they will die
And once they die, they will drag you with them for company
So now BOTH of you fall and fade to oblivion….

It is hard to express all the thoughts and feelings that erupted in me when i heard about this tragedy.  To all that have suffered loss, please humbly accept my condolences.  I can not begin to comprehend how this has affected you, but my prayers ask for forgiveness and healing to all.

I have to believe that out of this tragedy, some greater good will emerge and maybe as members of the community, university and country we can all work together to find that greater good.

Dear Students and Faculty of Virginia Tech, and Parents and Family and Friends of the victims,

I live in Maryland and don’t know any of the victims of the VA Tech tragedy. However, it has deeply affected me.

I just wanted to say that it is a difficult time for everyone, and me sitting here, I may not be able to feel what any of you are feeling. However I want you to know that I am praying for each and every one of you. I pray that God gives you all the strength you need to fight through this.

There are many questions that are unanswered, and most likely will never be answered. But you have to keep in your mind that regardless we all need to stick together and pray for the happiness of those who have passed away, those that are recovering, and those that have lost their loved ones.  I have seen bad days in my life, and the best way to overcome them is to look at tomorrow and make yourself a stronger and better person.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

God Bless.

I grieve for you all. Hearing about all of this brought back bad memories. I am one of the students that goes to Weston High School in Wisconsin. I dont know if you heard about it but on September 29, 2006 my principal was shot & killed. On the very same day just minutes before my principal was shot a kid from my school died in a unrelated car accident. You guys have suffered a much greater loss that I have but it was still the worst day of my life. It has been about 7 months and things have gotten much better but it will still be awhile until things are going to be the same.I was just down the hall from the shooting & I can still remember the gun shots & the screams plain as day.It hurts to know that this year when I am going onto highschool it will not be my principal oh whom I cared about so dearly handing me my certificate, it will be the person who replaced my principal. Things like this should never happen. They just plain aren’t right. Inocent people should not have to die, especially not in the way they did. It will take you guys a long time to heal from all this but trust me things will get better.

Hi, my name is Jessica Jetter and I am a highschool student in Miami. I am extremely shocked and touched by this event even though I have no direct relation with the school. I am so sorry this had to happen.

I am sure the students killed were wonderful students that were special to world. I feel they were individuals with ambition and personality. My condolences go to their families, friends, or anyone who knew them. I wish I could have known them, but I feel like I did by just hearing what their friends say bout them on tv. I cry everytime I hear about these deaths.

I really want to write personally to their friends and families. If anyone knows how, please email me at

And to Cho- I am sorry you didn’t realize what you did. We all need to pray for him and his disturbed soul.

I went down to Virginia Tech twice over the last couple of months: for an engineering career fair and for a technology showcase.  I came away from those two events very impressed with the students I met, but I have to say that after watching how you have handled the events over the last three days, I have never been prouder to have a Virginia Tech diploma.  My heart aches for everyone involved and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

As a fellow educator, I pray for the leadership of the university that you will be blessed with the wisdom to do what you believe is best for the campus and not waiver in what you believe is best.

Students:  please do not be afraid.  Do not lose sight of your hopes, goals and dreams.  Hold on to your faith and believe in a future you will help build.
