Condolences, April 18, 2007

I am so sorry for the tragedy that has fallen upon this great University. My heart goes out to all of the families, students, and faculty who have lost someone dear and witnessed this horrible event. When a tragedy like this happens it is important for us to grieve for those lost but at the same time to stay strong and learn something about the events that happend in order to never have to witness something so terrible again. Lets get together in our communities and pray for these wonderful people lost, lets also pray that our country will get better.

You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers.  As a senior at JMU it saddens me to know that the school, “just up the road,” where my brother attends college had to experience this horrific event.  I can only hope for the best for all of you.

We saw what happened
We, too, are in shock
We are crying
We are hurt
Your pain is ours . . .
But --
In the coming weeks,
You must move on
You must live
You must complete those things you started
for we are counting on you
You must thrive
for the world is watching
Your success is ours
and we see ourselves in you
Take our strength, Take our energy,
Take our courage
Make them your own
Repair your broken spirit
for You are loved, You are ours,
You are us . . .
We are humanity.

I will be brief and just say that we all, by force of circumstance, are now a part of the Hokie nation.  This unspeakable and befuddling act of casual violence will not break us.

To all of those that have lost family and friends, words cannot express what you all must be going through.  We would hope there is some peace in knowing that your loved ones have gone to heaven and are in a much better place than you and I.  Within the last 3 weeks I lost my father and you miss that individual every day and want to pick up the phone to call and say hello. There thoughts and memories will be with you even though they are absent.  Time will heal all wounds, but know that it takes time. Tell those that you love how much you appreciate and care for them because they can be taken away from you in a blink of an eye.  Just as those were taken from you just that fast.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.  May God comfort and keep you in his loving arms.

My heart aches for the entire VT family.  My thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone of you.  To the students of VT, don’t let this tragedy define who you are.  You must carry on.  Your fallen friends would want you too!  Don’t let this individual affect your life anymore than he did on April 16.  Continue with your plans, hopes and dreams for the future.  You were all on the right track before this incident - DON’T LET THIS CHANGE WHO YOU ARE!  Education is one of the most important things you can have.  Stand strong.  Use this to fuel your motivation.  All of you will set examples in the coming days, months and years for the next generations.  I will pray for all of you.

To all those who have lost loved ones, friends and who has been affected by this senseless tragedy, Metro East Illinois have you in their thoughts and prayers. May you find strength and comfort in your fellow man and begin healing.
People say they’re sorry,
And they mean it from the heart,
But to understand your heartache,
They couldn’t even start,
To have a loss like you have had,
Is too much to understand,
We see it and we feel for you,
But it’s only secondhand,
You’re the ones who are suffering,
And we’re the ones who care,
But if there’s anything we can do,
Call us, we’ll be there.

Raise your head,
cry not for me.

Smile as you remember
the faces no longer seen.

Honor their lives,
hold them on high.

This was not your fault,
please no longer cry.

Strong together we are,
bring us closer it does.

From this let us share
with the world our love.

To everyone even remotely affected by ‘the massacre”,
I am a freshman at FIU-South in Miami and all the way down here your pain is being felt. Our school is holding vigils in the honor of the decesed and the students are in shock. Us as a college community are all affected because we live and work in the same environment where this happened and it could have very well been us instead of them. It brought me to tears to see the profiles of the victims especially those who were freshmen, they really didn’t have the chance to enjoy college or even to ‘find themselves’ as we here happens so often. My most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the lost, I am so hurt by it and I was not directly affected. I can’t even begin to imagine your pain.
God is watching
“FIU is with you!”

We cant explain how we feel in words, they are emotions that are their and we dont know how to express them. I am a student of Ctu Online and I want to give my email address to all who want to chat or need someone to talk to. Here in Tennessee we are deeply sorry for your loss. I am truly sorry for the gunman’s family for their loss as well. At least we know that the are safe. My aunt wrote a poem about True Freedom when she was in Prision, but it applies to everyone in this day and age.
God Be With Us all.
Sincerely and God Bless

What has happened has effected me, as well as everyone across the state, country, and world. Being so close to Tech it has really hit our area hard. I wish that the recovery of the injured is quick and painless, and that the memory of those killed lives on forever. I hope that we can remember that the one who took so many lives has a family as well, and that they are not responsible. I hope that we can forgive, because just like us, his family are just people. I hope that we can remember all that has happened, and never forget those that we lost.

I am a native New Yorker, and was living there on 9/11/01.  A good friend of mine decided to go to the lovely little park there in the afternoon of 9/11...had she decided to go in the morning....!

I now live in Colorado, where the Colombine massacre happened. My nephew lives in DC… I think it’s doubly tragic that all these wonderful ‘ordinary’ people died without their talents being widely known, (and celebrated)..years before their deaths.

“Celebrities” are always celebrated.  But I think it’s time we “ordinary” people celebrated each other’s talents and good traits, too.  EVERYONE is important, EVERYONE is Human!

My overwhelming sadness at the loss of talent, kindness, joy and laughter of the victims of the “Virginia Tech Massacre” may never leave me.
My condolences to all those who knew them personally.

All Is Well

Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household world that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It it the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.

Praying for you and yours…
