Dear Faculty and Students of Virginia Tech,
History is often defined by terrible tragedies like this. For those of us not directly involved, it is a time to think and pray...We can be vulnerable at times, but watching all of you come together over these past couple days is truly amazing. Stay strong. God be with you.

As I viewed the pictures and read the information about the victims at VA Tech. An Irish saying came to mind, and I am sorry if it is not totally correct.  “Do not cry or mourn for me, but think of me often and smile and remember how much I loved you” God Bless you all and may God hold you all in the hollow of his hand.

Dear Families of these tragedy,

I’m really sorry for what happened and I’d like to share my condolences with all of you.

There is a proverb on the bible Chapter 12 line 25 that says: “Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.”.

Don’t let the angry fill your heart and let’s pray for the souls of the students and to the killer soul to rest in peace.

I am a Hokie. My wife is a Hokie. My brothers-in-law and my sisters-in-law are Hokies. Many of my friends are Hokies. Tech is such a large part of our lives even though I graduated almost ten years ago. I fell in love and met my wife at Virginia Tech! My family has been devastated by this. We are in shock and we have cried. We don’t know how to express our sorrow, but we hope that all Hokies can work through this and Virginia Tech can be remembered for the opportunities, friendship, open exchange of ideas, character building, and warm summers tubing on the New River.

I work at a high school in the UK. I have to admit I did not hear of this very quickly but after an assembly today where I was asked to show your website to half of the school, I had to pick up the trail. What I found out was a horrible story that you are all too familiar with. I would like to share my condolences with all involved and hope that you - as an entire university community - can pull together and move forward. My best wishes are with you all.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have lost a loved one in the April 16th tragedy. We pray that God blesses each and everyone of you and gives you the strength to unite as a University. As fellow students across the country we all feel your loss. We support you and want you all to know that we stand beside you. You are the Hokies.....

It is with deep sympathy and a torn heart, that I send my heartfelt tears to each and everyone of you. To the Families who lost loved ones, and to those of you, who in angony suffered with much fear during these times when evil took over your school. My prayers will continue for you, and my words will reach out, so our government will put things into place, where this may never happen again.

Blaming the University is not the answer, for even if everyone was notified...the shooter would have still been amoung you, and even if a lock down had taken place before this situation...He still would had been locked down with the other students, since He was, lets focus on healing and focus on changing Laws…

I am truly sorry.

Our deepest sympathies go out to all who have been touched by this nightmare.  Please know that the thoughts and prayers of people all over this country and world are with you all now, including ours.  We have never had the privilege of visiting your campus, but your love and support for each other speak volumes to those of us who grieve with you in your loss.  The sense of pride and community shines through all of the darkness of the past few days, and we are positive that the world will continue to see these things in all of you throughout the days, weeks, and months ahead.  We pray that a sense of peace and hope will fill your hearts and the “Hokie Nation” will emerge stronger than ever.

There are no words to describe what happened, and what everyone is going thru, but here is a reaction~ Rev. Joseph Hoodin

Hokie poem

Eyes and ears
Wide open
Your soul remains
You search for
In hope of finding
But how can this
Make sense
A classroom becomes
A makeshift morgue
Calm and reason
We will never
Have the answer
Merely speculation
And theory
All we know
Is we can’t know
The explanation
For this

Life is hard during times such as these and words can’t express the heart ache that we are feeling for the victims, their families, and the campus family. May you find comfort knowing that many are praying and thinking about all during this time. Lean on the Lord to give you strength and courage to hold your head up as you continue on. May we learn from this tragic moment.

How sad, how terrible to think that our children should live in a violent and harsh world. I am deeply sorry for what happened to you and I hope you are able to recover from this tragic event. I know is not easy to forgive but you should so you can go on and smile at life again. Your smiles are the biggest tribute you can give to those who didn´t make it and your memories of them. I pray for you all and hope this never happens again.

I grew up in Roanoke and have visited Tech many times for different events and to see friends. Although I attended Clemson, I always had a sense of pride when it came to Tech because it was my home University. I feel for the Tech community and those that lost friends and loved ones. I was touched by the end of the convocation on Tuesday and believe that your community will be stronger and closer because of this tragic event. After reading about the victims, I am so sadened that their bright futures were cut short. My prayers are for all of you.

Dear Lord, we pray that You will give strength to the families of the students that lost their earthly lives. And also to the students and school staff that got injured, physically or mentally. We are short of words, dear Lord. Please, show us how to accept those things we cannot change.

Dear Lord, give comfort to their souls and all the support they need to get through these difficult times.

It gives comfort to know that You, dear God, are waiting There with open arms for the ones we love.

The world is watching, a community is praying. We’re so sorry.  I have sons in college; K-State and KU, here in the state of Kansas.  I admint, I worry often. As parents our protective sense and love never leaves us; but once our children have left home, our hope, trust and prayer is a good education, their well-being and safety. Be strong, take care of yourselves, and one another.  We’re here, we’re praying, we’ll get through this.

For many years I was a community therapist, working with the most troubled of young people. I saw some of the worst effects these youth had on themselves, families, friends, and society. How blessed I feel to have been witness to the maturity, strength, wisdom, and courage of the students at Va. Tech in the wake of this massacre at their beloved university. What an example of grace you have been.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the student and professor victims.

The consolation goes to all who suffer in the wake of this, yet another American tragedy.

The gunman is dead and is known only as disturbed, a gunman and left behind only questions, answers and remorse at his sorrowful life.

May the ones who mourn be comforted that the young and others who passed away on Monday, April 16, 2007 will be remembered as much, much more.

The world has lost many great minds through the actions of one tormented soul.  His actions and the sorrow he left behind has not only effected the students, staff, families and community of VT, but that of the world.  Yet, from this horrific tragedy comes the amazing human spirit through acts of heroism, compassion and survival.

May the grace of God comfort all those who have suffered and been touched by the events that unfolded on the VT campus April 16th. May God be with each of you now and always.
